@Anitasa2z - Actually tomatillos are related to both the gooseberry and tomato. They are all part of the Solanaceae family, as are peppers, potatoes and egg plant.
I have not cooked tomatillos before using them in salsa, I have just used them raw. I bet they would be good the way you made them. I just pulled some from my garden, I think I will try your method.
Can I put them in a soup? If so what kind of soup?
