  • 0:48 Jimmy fell in love with Clark at first sight

  • He WISHES Lois "Used him all the time"

So Jimmie Olsen is your average kiss ass fanboy

  • He WISHES Lois "Used him all the time"

  • "It's James" No, it's "Henry" If Jimmy really being "Henry" and his brother being the real Jimmy was the plan all along, then how could they write it in so bad?

  • When they revealed Smallville's Jimmy Olsen of being the REAL Jimmy Olsen's older brother, it felt like the biggest slap in the face.

  • LOL, we've been arguing about this for years, but as the series winds down Lois becomes more like her iconic self; Chloe is reduced to 5 episodes, is removed from the credits, declares her undying love for Oliver and slowly disappears from the show entirely; and all of the producers/writers/show runners etc. et al's comments about Chloe NOT being Lois Lane prove to be true there's still going to be some who refuse to accept that "Chlois" never was except in their imaginations.

  • wow jimmy is short

  • @WhatAboutThemApples ALL excellent and extremely spot on points. Chloe is an amalgamation of many comic book character. She is a made up character for the show therefor she can be conveniently squeezed into many roles for plot movement, which I guess can make people feel unsure as to their characters "place" in the television show because she has worn so many hats. My personal take on the chlois theory is that it's been debunked - and as of the end of season 10, permanently debunked.

  • Is Jimmy Olsen in "Smallville" the same actor who played Iceman in X2 or is that his twin brother?

  • @extraleague01 Aaron, the twin brother plays Jimmy Olsen - Shawn played Iceman and Eric in two early Smallville episodes (the lightening leech that took Clark's powers!) - they never addressed the similarities between the two of them, did they?

  • This is crazy. Fans of Chloe do not know how to invent

  • wow... even with the REAL Lois Lane in the show you still think Chloe is somehow Lois? Wtf

  • Wtf is this argument about i hate chloe first of all cuz she is not a real character she is a stupid one made by the tv and not dc they shuld have killed her not jimmy and what does this prove that chloe is lois wtf no she is not lois is lois and chloe and well weird

  • The Chlois theory isn't that Chloe becomes somebody else. It's that she's been written as a young Lois Lane from the very beginning of the series. In the pilot, her name is only mentioned once and not in her presence. Unlike everyone else. And AlMiles originally pitched a young Lois and Clark series but were barred from doing so. Nois was forced on to them in the fourth season by an network executive (money reasons). Nois on the series is written more like Cat Grant from the comics.

  • Chlois doesn't make sense. There is many obvious points that Chloe is Chloe and EDLois is the Lois Lane of media but Chlois fans always ignore to find some poinfs that they think prove Chloe is Lois. Chloe is like Rachel Dawes, Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane, Pete Ross, Lana Lang and the Kents rolled in one and she is her own character

  • Chlois is illogical and insulting.

  • We think it has lots of logic to it, starting from season 1 even up through last season. It was even acknowledged as a possibility in "Legion".

I can see where some might find it insulting (although, in the same sense there are those of us who find Durance's version of "Lois" insulting, but to each his own, right?), but in its basic sense, it's just a theory that people like to discuss. If the show didn't give any evidence for it, people would never have started talking about it.

  • The thing is, that this theory is so insulting to Erica's interpretation of Lois Lane and that's what upsets fans. Even Allison Mack, who plays Chloe, finds this theory ridiculous. Did you see her most recent interview from Comic Con?

How creepy would it be for Chloe to take her cousin's name.... if anything how can CHLOE be the iconic LL if she's known Clark for a decade as Chloe. Short of memory loss from all the characters, this doesn't hold up.

  • AM lied in interviews that took place between the third and fourth seasons. She stated that Chloe was indeed dead even though she knew she was coming back. So, it's possible that she could know that Chlois is in the cards and isn't saying anything because it's supposed to be a secret twist. We probably won't know until the end of the series.

Anyway, one possibility is that Chloe uses "Lois Lane" as a by-line to honor her dead cousin.

  • I think they've debunked this theory enough but no matter how much its proven that Erica is playing Lois Lane and Allison is playing Chloe Sullivan fans will always believe otherwise. It's sad really. Chloe Sullivan isn't good enough to really exist to her fans...

Chlois is about as real as the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus

  • Hasn't been debunked. Fired in 'Descent'? Fired by the VILLAIN for an illegitimate reason. Deciding to give something else other than reporting a chance in early season 8? Possessed by Brainiac. 'Hex'? The final scene can't be trusted. Oliver and Chloe are both wearing black. And in SV, when good characters are not themselves/making a mistake/doing something bad, they wear black.

And the idea behind Chlois is that Chloe is Lois Lane in all but name, not that she's not good enough to exist.

  • I think this is still hopeful wishing on fans who don't like Erica Durance's version of Lois Lane. Which is sad because she does an amazing job. A lot of people agree with that statement, NOT just her fans.

  • But when Chlois theorists start attacking Erica then you lose all credibility. Well, you say that we'll find out by the series end... good to know. Because this is Allison's last season and it looks like Smallville is coming back for a 10th and final season according to tv experts... I'd love to see your theory hold up then...

  • There are Chloisers and non-Chlois who have attacked ED because she's a poor actress.

I've already covered this in an oblique way: AM has lied in interviews before to keep a twists secret. She could know about Chlois already. And I remember that another actress from "Battlestar Galactica" lied a few years ago about it being her final season because the producers needed people to be shocked.

And it might get cancelled. The number of people DVRing didn't increase despite the move to Friday.

  • Actually the numbers did increase. By 50% and they're getting better. Itunes and Amazon downloads have also gone up. People are still interested. IF Dawn Ostroff was smart she'd give it one more season to end correctly. And Allison won't be returning, meaning Erica is likely to finally have 22 episodes. IF Chlois was going to happen, it would have already. This late in the series, it'd be ridiculous and complete retcon of the entire series. Surely enough to piss off majority of dedicated fans.

  • As I understand it, the ratings steadily went down until they had an increase last week. But last week's featured the Oliver/Toyman rematch. Last year, "Bloodline" showed a ratings increase because it featured the Phantom Zone and the return of Kara.

DO doesn't like SV. It draws in a male demo and she wants the CW to focus on young, white females.

Chlois is supposed to be a twist, so it would probably happen at the end to surprise those who aren't aware of Chlois. And they do exist.

  • Well, if you look back at the promo for Bloodline, they focused more on Lois and Clark getting stuck in the Phantom Zone rather than Kara returning. And the Echo promos focused more on Clark's new ability than Toyman, so I don't think that the reasons you gave are the reasons their ratings went up. People happen to like Clois on this show. Obviously, not everyone does, but a lot of the show's fans happen to like Clark and Lois together. And that's the direction they're going this season, sooo...

  • But she doesn't do an amazing job. She's best at comedy (mediocre at that) and overacting as Faora (I kind of enjoyed that).

Fans of the actual comics tend to say that ED's Nois falls far short of who Lois Lane is supposed to be. I tend to trust their word over others. Besides, Nois wasn't actually supposed to be part of the show. A new network exec at the time forced AlMiles to include her to save money (long story).

  • Erica makes a lot of people happy doing what she does. She's done a great job as Lois from the get-go. You have to realize Smallville characters are modeled most after the 1980's reboot of the Superman tale in the comics, and not the original comic books by Shuster and Siegel. So obviously there are going to be people who are upset. But she is well recieved by a lot of people in the world of Superman. She's got a lot of praise too. I think its unfair to degrade her work because you dont like her

  • Not exactly correct. And that's the source of the confusion. When they created the series, they didn't base it strictly on the reboot. They borrowed what they wanted from the comics (Golden, Silver, Modern, and Iron Ages), the movies, and the various television incarnations and left the rest.

Chloe's first editor at the DP (the one who was murdererd in season three)? George "Max" Taylor. George Taylor was Lois Lanes' first editor at the Daily Star/Daily Planet in the Golden Age comics.

  • This version of Lois Lane is modeled after the 1980s reboot. An army brat, tough as nails, falls for Clark first, etc etc. All vital part of Lois Lane in Smallville. Erica has a lot of fans. She's liked by a lot of people. She's an over all sweet person. If you want to bait her acting, you can do the same for every actor on this show including Mack and Welling. Most of the experience they've recieved is from Smallville, with the exception of a movie every now and then.

  • Chlois is unfair to Erica who's been Lois Lane for the last 5 years. IF the producers seriously want to piss off fans, letting Chlois come into fruition would be the #1 way to do it. Look at how people reacted to the Sageeth and Jimmy retcons last year. That's nothing compared to the wrath they'll get from Lois fans. And they know this. But it doesn't matter. Convincing a Chloiser otherwise is like convincing Darwin there is a God. Endless and pointless. I'm done arguing. Goodbye.

  • She wasn't actually part AlMiles' plan. A network exec didn't want to pay for using Pete. The call for casting went out on a Friday. ED was hired a couple of days later. A week before the "Crusade" started shooting.

I don't care if ED is sweet. Her acting is what I'm concerned with. AM is still one of the best on SV. TW isn't, but he usually bring his A game when paired with more experienced cast members or is invested in the story. (Pretty sure he's a Chlarker.)

  • I'm sorry. But that's pure opinion. I happen to know Welling loves working with Durance. He speaks wonders of her. They have great chemistry off and on camera. But he seems to be easy to work with. Everyone he's ever worked with says so. For you to say he's a "Chlarker" is wishful thinking on your part. He's never once said so or even inclined to feel that way. In fact, he's said some pretty amazing things about Clois to show he likes this new direction. Especially in his latest interview.

  • It was something I first noticed when I listened to the "Spell" commentary and how TW plays against AM even in scenes that supposedly aren't romantic. Others have noticed it too. And some of them brought up past interviews.

I think I know the interview and it's weird. Several people noted that even though we were told that Clark had been staring at Nois with puppydog eyes last year, it never came across that way on screen. TW could do that with Clana and it looks like he disliked Clana.

  • I watched that same commentary on Spell and the girls just praised Tom for his great acting in that episode. Not because he was opposite anyone in particular. And I never heard he disliked Clana. I'm sure he was sick of the endless seasaw aspect of it. But he never came out and said he hated it. Kristin and Tom had some great chemistry onscreen, and I don't happen to like Clana. As for that loving look, seriously?? He gives her these looks like that you melt. If you re-watch s8 you'd see it.

  • Season 9 just gave it a little more umph! Between Savior and Echo, the Clois has been full tilt and really exciting. Especially in Rabid. That rain scene was iconic and epic. Rabid also happens to be a fan favorite that deals a lot with, surprise surprise, Clois and zombies. I'm sure the zombies plays a part in that, but you can't count out Clois in that episode. Look, I'm not going try and convince you and I hope you've realized by now that you can't convince me. I've heard your points and

  • agree with none of them, but that's my right. Just like its your right to disagree with all I've said. So this is where I draw the line, and we agree to disagree... capiche? I'm kinda sick of seeing this in email box over and over. Thanks.

  • " there are those of us who find Durance's version of "Lois" insulting"

I didn't care for Bosworth's take of Lois in SR, but I didn't find it "insulting".

I think the insulting part of the theory is since they have little to show how Chloe=ILL at this point, they will instantly start attacking Lois, and even worse it becomes personal and they attack ED as a person.

Proving an apple isn't an orange doesn't instantly make a banana be an orange, it's another case of faulty logic.

  • Beyond that the theory is also insulting to AM who put 8 years into her character of Chloe Sullivan, only to have a group of people who claim to be her fans want her to be somebody else because heaven forbid Chloe Sullivan isn't good enough for them.

Nois on the series is written more like Cat Grant from the comics.

  • Actually the Chloisers have a lot to show for it. The intelligence, the drive, the ambition, the automatic triggering of Clark's superhearing, the heartbeat. She's even been called rude.

Nois is insulting because she only has faults. They aren't balanced by positive qualities. House from "House" is a jerk but he's also a genius and has a functional friendship with Wilson.

And if I attack ED, it's because she's poor actress. She's best at comedy (mediocre at that) and overacting as Faora.

  • Problem is there is many ways you can line up Chloe to Lana from the comics(I would argue even more then Chloe to Lois). Why isn't there a Chlana theory?

  • There probably was a Chlana theory at some point. There was even a Lionex (?) theory.

Anyway, in the pilot commentary, one half of AlMiles mentioned that they did put aspects of Lois and Lana into Chloe and made her a proto-Lois Lane. But then the other laughed in the way you do when you have a private joke. As in, she's supposed to be Lois Lane.

What's more important to is that Chloe was given major ICONIC Lois Lane moments. And these didn't stop when Nois was introduced.

  • SVLana has alot of ILL moments does that make her Lois?

Chloe has alot of shared moments with comic Lana does that make her comic Lana?

In the comics Lana was basically a protoLois, just like Chloe was on SV.

Problem with the whole Chlois theory is take away journalism, I just don't see much similarity to Chloe and ILL. Chloe's character is way to passive and mild tempered. Comic!Lana would be a better compairons from the comics although I think Chloe is different from her as well.

  • If I showed you these points who would you think I am talking about?

    -Clark's first Kiss

    -Clark's first date

-has a crush on Clark in post crisis revamp but Clark only like her platonically

-worked at DP for a short stint in the 60s

-new paper editor in later years(ie torch)

-Pete Ross secretly has a crush on her

-finds out secret on graduation day

-wrote Clark a juvenile love leter

If you say Chloe or the comic book Lana, you would be correct on both accounts

  • For shits and giggles other characteristics Chloe takes from other mythos characters

    Pete - BFF

    Perry White - Clark's editor

Infected by Brianiac - Lex Luthor(JLU)

Martian Manhunter, Mr Terrific - Watchtower

The Kents - somebody for Clark to talk to about personal life

Jimmy Olsen - helps Clark search for answers on occasion(especially the show L&C), Superman's Pal

    Krypto - Clark's sidekick

  • Wasn't Jimmy.

    Suck it Chlois.

  • So, that whole "Chloe can't be Lois because Lois would never have had sex or married Jimmy Olsen" argument can go out the window? :)

  • So where does your theory stand on the fact that now SV is claiming that AA's Jimmy Olsen was never the ICONIC Jimmy Olsen.....?

  • Actually, we think the Jenry twist emphasizes the Chlois Theory. The "Iconic" name didn't save him from death and his little brother is going to take his name and his place in the story.

Sounds a lot like EDLois dying and Chloe taking her cousin's name and fulfill that destiny in the story to us.

Jenry just proves that Chlois was/is a real possibility and never as crazy as some made it out to be.

  • This has no weight. What has MORE weight is that fact that Chloe sleeps with, dates, gets engaged to, and eventually marries Jimmy Olsen. No Lois Lane in any incarnation (thank god) has ever done that. So again, this proves NOTHING. I'm sure you I spent nearly as long as you obviously do in finding these connections to support Chlois, I could support other theories with zero substance too (like Chloe actually being Lana, or even Clark himself). Point is, it's just speculation.

  • And, no "Lois Lane" would have done that, now that AA's Jimmy is not the REAL Jimmy Olsen.

Right. It's speculation. A theory. That's all we propose that it is. We just like discussing it.

  • Is this Iceman?

  • Jimmy Olsen on Smallville is played by Aaron Ashmore. His twin brother, Shawn, played Iceman.

  • HA love those guys! they play awesome characters.... iceman has to be my favorite!

  • Just a minor criticism: this isn't one of the more convincing parallels. Chloe's attitude in this vid isn't anything like Lois's. But it is interesting to see how jealous Clark looks. :) And I love most of the videos you've posted.

  • We appreciate the feedback, but the parallel isn't in the attitude, it's in the fact that Lois Lane is present when Jimmy and Clark meet and actually is the one to introduce them.

In other version, like in LnC and in the films, Lois is always present when Clark meets Jimmy Olsen, but doesn't introduce them.

We believe that the scene from "Zod" was Iconic in the fact that it's the first time Clark Kent meets Jimmy Olsen and Chloe is there, which is usually the Lois Lane position to be in.

  • Is Jimmy usually Lois' booty call when it happens though? "Chlois" dating Jimmy should be a huge strike against the theory. That being said it is a great arguing point for a CHLucy(Chloe=Lucy Lane) theory.

  • So, Chloe can be Lucy Lane without the name, even though a Lucy has already shown up on the show?

Seems like if that's possible, it's possible for Chloe = Lois Lane :)

  • Chloe also possesses many traits of iconic Lana Lang as well as some traits or iconic Pete Ross, Iconic Johnathon and Martha Kent to go with her traits she shares with the iconic Lane sisters.

You can say Chloe is the most unoriginal original character on Smallville. Of coarse the Chlois fanbase seems to overlook all the ways she lines up to other characters(i would say her personality is 90% Lana) and focuses on how she lines up to Lois because that is the desired outcome you want for Chloe

  • As for the "attitude" Lois shows in the cartoon clip not being important, that would be another strike in the Chlois theory. Chloe has never had an in your face type attitude like other Lois Lanes throughout history. It is great to see Lois and Clark though start off there relationship in an adversarial manner, reminds me of one other relationship on Smallville

  • True, I just think that it's more important for Chloe to act like ILL than for her to just be put in the same situations. But there are many examples of her doing this and it's not like this video takes away from that. It's still an interesting parallel, just not one of the strongest IMO.

  • Is Lois Lane not also present when Clark Kent starts working at the Daily Planet?

  • Nothing like that iconic Jimmy and Chlois relationship.

  • So cute. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Hee, that was cute. Oh Season 6, back before I loathed Jimmy.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • yay there are so many "chlois" scenes that it would completely retarded if chloe wasn't lois! =P

  • At the very least, it's very fascinating.

  • you rock!

    i luv all the clips!!

there most be a Chlois Theory!

  • Glad you like them!

  • LOL The look on his face at the end...geez. Can you say jealous much? Loved the connection between both scenes! :)

  • Jealous is definitely the right word for it :)

Glad you liked the connection between the scenes and thanks for watching!

  • You guys are awesome for doing these!

  • You're awesome for watching!

  • Aww, thanks for posting this, I think it's so cool how Chloe introduced Jimmy to Clark!!

  • Welcome!

    It's pretty cool, isn't it?

  • LOL. AHH this was really cute! Loving the comparisons ;]

  • Isn't it? Glad you liked the comparisons and thanks for watching!

  • Awesome. I really liked the comparison.

  • Yes, we do, too!

    Thanks for watching!

  • Love it :D, thanks!!!

  • Welcome!
