I've known Haggai for more than 20 years -- he told me that they did NOT have an internet connection there in the room at his house in Ann Arbor where they were gathered. Neither Haggai nor any of the quiz bowl team members there knew the answer, but his housemate Nina did because of a play about Paddington Bear that Nina's sister had been in back in grade school which mentioned Peru several times. The clicking sound is from the landline phone cord as Haggai confirmed that Peru was the answer.
