Mestre Bandeira he is a great master, and a very dangerous player when he wants, or needs to be. His kicks is not beautiful ? does not matter because his aim is not to play as a dancer, but as a FIGHTER, and in this way the more important thing is not to have a beatifull kick, but efficient kick. But he is a traditional capoeira master in santos, and all over of the world.
those who think that he's not a mestre, don't understand much. if he's kicks seem like they don't look good it's because he spent i dont know how many years, proving to his mestre, corisco, that he can attack with intent. now that his getting older he does have to preserve his body, so he can go throwing wild kicks as often as he use to. this is true with all mestre of he's age and up. but that doesnt mean they cant "fuck yo shit up"
Dance and fight in capoeira are not two different things. Those who claim they prefer one over the other may be missing the point of what capoeira is. I have encountered ASCAB capoeira and do not think it is effective at all.
I don't want to argue, because i was in the roda, and i sow haw M. Bandeira kick ass of (22old)prof. from UNICAr group and Bandeira has more than 50, and he do it without nay problems, and about the hands - if you are fast and v, good fighter u can put your hands even behind your back :), try to look closer to M. ginga - it is very low and close.
But its your way of thinking about effectiveness, spend some time and look on others M. Bandeira movies, form me hes a True Master

It is quite hard to fight with such an opened jinga ( I mean that his hands are low and do not let him defend his face properly). No?
