What you mean "not refined at all"? You associate "refined" with insipid, delimited, standard?
This playing is like whole grain compared with white bread. Full of musical vitamins. How satisfying it is to hear a such unconventional version that does not sound weird, artificial. Instead one reflects on how differently a performer can correctly play a given score, in his own right. And how enjoyable it is to get variety.

Simply brilliante. His phrasing is the most accurate I've heard in any interpretation. The sostenuto section is divine. Martha was right about this man.
Dang Thai Son does play this one more to my taste, but still doesn't hold a candle to Mr. José Iturbi's rendition in "Song to Remember", a hollywoodized version of the Life of Chopin.
ok i don't disagree that it sounds great i'm a big fan of pogorelich and the way he plays my self but,in that specific one it sounded kind of i don't know, out of the spirit.
yeh sounded like he was trying to hard to be a bit edgy and different with his approach to the piece rather than just feeling the mood of the piece...in my opinion

This is a pretty good rendition. if I'm not mistaken, that looks like a rather military shirt he's wearing, any reason behind this?
