I remember when I beat this game with only TWO energy tanks! Oh, and I died hundreds of times, I can't do that now but somehow I was hardcore enough to accomplish that! Sadly I don't have visual proof, and lord knows the cameras couldn't catch that much detail on that small screen, but it's still a huge accomplishment! :)

You can beat it with missiles, you need 180. The method he's using here makes it much faster.

I never knew you could be swallowed by it, I was told 300 missiles to kill it, I was one of those non stop shooters.

There was a fan remake being made (although it looked very professional), they made it Super Metroid styled, but something happened with the project and I'm not sure what they're planning to do with it.

i would always cram in as many missiles and damage as i could. i would pump it's mouth full of missiles until just before it came un-stunned. then i'd do the morph ball bomb thing, and beat it in under 60 sec =p

It looks like you've played this on an emulator and set the frame rate very low. Generally when I do this on an emulator, I see the disappearing or flickering elements like this video shows. There's nothing wrong with showing a tool-assisted thing like this, but I'd like some kind of clarification if this was the case so I can put it in perspective.

Actually, the frame rate of the emulator was perfectly smooth, there was no frame-skip.

There is definitely something going on in the emulator. The flicker is noticeable on the video, where it wouldn't be on the Gameboy itself. What it could be is the emulator's video capture, though. I assume you used the emulator's video capture and not another tool?

There weren't really any emulator problems except for the flickering at the boss, It might be because of the colour patch. I either used CaptureWiz or Camtasia Studio 4, I don't know why it happens, every time I record from the screen it's really laggy.

Sometimes you have to walk back one way then go back again for a Metroid to show up, read an FAQ.

It itn't much of a boss battle, since there's energy and missile recharge stations down that hole.

It's easy once you are able to time the missiles into it's mouth then make your way inside and bomb away... It's an awesome boss XD.

Yeah, Nintendo were actually making a colour version called Metroid 2 DX but it was never released, but you can download a patch for the Rom to make it colour and it will play on the emulator.
