  • I grew up in beith in the seventies and eighties. it was a great place. moved away in the mid nineties. come back now and again to visit family. any sunday you care to pick the town is dead and the saracen front door is mobbed. my eight year old thinks every body in beith is an alkie.

  • I have strong family connections to Beith, my ancestors named Douglas were blacksmiths my grandfather born at Greenhills Beith. I visited Beith 2008 from Australia and felt that the village had seen better days but was charming in it's own way

  • Moved away in the 90's as many others did before and after, could stand the negativity no longer, I return very occasionally to see family and friends and always see the same wasters ( the ones that haven't drank or drugged themselves to death ) staggering about the place.

Seems to be a lot of very bitter people around the place now.

My only surprise is the suicide rate is not higher.

  • Social scene ? well if you want to go to a pub and watch a single mother of 5 spunk her giro getting pished while screaming into a Karaoke mic as her eldest ned has a square go with some other ned ( he doesn't know is actually his half brother) then be my guest.

  • Plenty of teeny slaggs breeding more teeny slags to live off the state, a never ending cycle of inbred halfwit Jeremy Kyle show candidates. The only business that seems to be doing well is the one dishing out methadone every morning to the every increasing Que of smack heads.

  • I grew up in Beith in the 70' and 80's and have great memories of many topics covered in this film, the Boys Brigade, Morrishill boys club etc - all great institutions that kept us busy.

Unfortunately the place is now a ned and junkie infested shytehole full of boarded up shops alkies and assorted detritus and scum that other councils have managed dump on Beith

  • Very good m8.Visited town a couple o times for Scottish cup games v Linlithgow n Airdrie.

  • hi there guys,i remember a wee fkr called chinky,,thinkinging now he was a coward +a chib m,erchant like many so called hard men from those times,

  • i live in beith now, im 16 !

i've been trying to find out the truth about Mary's pool, but there isnt any info anywhere about it.

i've heard that its haunted , and i know some of you will find that an amusing and dumb thing to believe but me and my friends have constantly been scared shitless many times, a was just wanderin if anyone knew what the deal with the place is anywho pretty kl vid :)

  • I lived in Beith at the time of mary's pool, basically a guy took a young girl up there and kicked her head in till she died, very sad,he then went to the picture hoose and watched a movie,I was in there at the time the police came in and arrested him.

  • aww :( that is sad !

beith rox and dont you ever furget it!!!

    fellow beith-yins

  • I was brought up in Beith and left in 1978. It was an awesome place to grow up in, although I didn't necessarily think that at the time.

There were some real eejits and some really questionable behaviour but it was a place of it's time, and I wouldn't change a thing.

Sadly, that time has gone forever. It is a very poor shadow of it's former self. It's dying.

  • is beith a nice place to live ,.was looking at a house there,.thanks

  • all that pomp and it`s still a shithole, too much breeding with the kilbunty ones and too much scum being placed there from glasgow by the council,

im very VERY glad to be out of it

its shame how the place has declined

  • You sound like a bitter man

  • yip,the wall, kirk brandons the pack, patrik fitzgerald,I remember the toaffee,we used to get it on the way to the Beith picture hoose and throw the toaffee at the screen if the film was pish

  • wee jeanie used to make awesome toffee and tablet...she used to scare the crap oot of us...depeneding on wot mood she was in...but it was worth it...i remember people chucking things..but for as long as i remember there was a tear that had been repaired on the lower corner of the screen, i heard someone did that with a bottle...

  • wiz that no' a sanny johnson/kilpeee episode with the bottle? kilpee on the speedway. the plastic factory on fire. the disgusting treatment of the so called jimmy bang bang. bainy's park the famous boattom scheme families: the johnsons the jacksons the duncans the broons the robertsons the mcgonnigles other names tae conjur: crowgie netzer pie jammy fatboy stanley tosser scrubber

  • the song is My Town by Glass Tiger...Alan Frew the lead singer comes from Glasgow and moved here (canada) when he was 16. Rod Stewart actually sings on the single release. Incidentally, Frew still has as broad an accent and lives down in Nova Scotia..
