I love the way this is played, most versions I've heard sound stilted and forced but this recording is full of so much emotion! Great Job, and great conducting!
well it was probably done by a grad student in conducting. we get students to guest conduct like that all the time and he was probably really nervous considering it would be one of his first times conducting for an important shindig like this!
i heard this on the radio for the first time tonight. lol i ran straight to my computer to find it on youtube so i wouldn't forget it. great job to the orchestra, one of the better university orchestras i've heard on youtube.
lol got him lookin like an old school composer huh

UWO ?? University of Western Ontario? University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh?
Conductor's name? Brief bio? He was not helped by his shirfront rolling up, so that his hand incessantly worried at it.
But this was a worthy performance, well-conducted.

The conductor went to my current high school. :)
Glad to see someone from our school continuing so strongly in music. ^^

For a student, he is doing a marvelous job at conducting, especially cue's !
This piece describes the play perfectly aswell.

a part of the piece reminded me of a piece that was used in the movie 'the santa clause'.
anyways, the maestro looks young! and in a way his conducting appears that way too, but did a great job. i think i heard couple mistakes though.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
i'd say they suck for a university orchestra=.= decent for a youth orchestra maybe.

Not really; certainly there are things that could use work, but for your typical university orchestra, they handle this difficult piece well.

Mendelssohn's masterpiece of classical music for the humanity. This is the most lovely piece of art ever made.
