no disrespect to Michelle Branch but THIS is the version that should have been the hit this song was. saw Carlos Santana on a talk show promoting the cd this came out on saying when he originally turned in this version to the record label they HATED it (???). so it was re-recorded (using same arrangement) with Branch. wonder if whoever rejected Tina's version is still in the music biz? THIS IS TINA'S SONG!!!!
Gotta drop in for mah girl. This is Branch's song. Sorry guys, and I mean this with all respect, but this isn't Turner's music. Santana's guitar is like a vocal in itself, and Tina is singing to a diffrent tune. Branch's version connects to the lyrics. It's all about hopelessly falling in love but being easy and content with it. It's like a girl getting out of bed in the morning with that slightly messed up hair. Branch captures that in her vocals. It's what one this song a Grammy.
I like the Michelle Branch version a lot...but this version makes me GET the song. The Michelle Branch version is a pleasing piece of ear candy...but this version has passion and is actually ABOUT something.

I love this song with Tina Turrner, but WTF is with this video??? This is Cose della Vita with Tina Turner and Eros Ramazotti. Can't believe that this song was originally released with that white chick and her lame ass voice when Tina Turner sings it so much better.
Tina puts a lot of heart and soul into this... I can't say which I like better... But they chose Michelle Branch maybe because of her smooth mellow voice. Tina's strong voice conflicts with the guitar playing.
This song me reminds me of walking down the street of Madrid, Spain and listening to my Mp3 player. They played this all the time over there. Best 3 yrs of my life!
This song was actually written by Gregg Alexander from the New Radicals...listen to his song You Get What You Give, then listen to this, so many similarities and stylistically they are very much the same
Yes, Tina was the first to sing this. Santana's record company didn't want Tina on the album. What's her face was popular at the time, so they went with who could get better sales. (I'm thinking the sales person has since been fired.)
got that right! My thoughts exactly! And she cuoldn't look better, and I'm not gay, I love gay, but I'm not gay, just love the hell out of this woman!
In this latest work of Santana he rewrite some hits with famous artists there he called the Tina Turner to sing Game Of Love. Tina returned in October tour this year with a new album that contains 2 tracks unpublished.
This story was denied that Tina is totally fake. This version was recorded in 2007 with Tina singing.
I have been a fan of this woman's since 1984 when she came out with the album Private Dancer and can say that she is a God in the music world of whom i dearly love.
I was never crazy about this song before but listening to TINA sang the shiz out of it makes me love it!!! Just goes to show you what a PHENOMENAL singer can really do!!!
apparently Santana wanted Tina from the start but there were problems between Santana's record company and Tina's so Tina's version was recorded later. It's frickin' amazing though.
Incorrect info. Tina's version was recorded first and the record company told Carlos they wanted a younger sound than Tina's. And that's when Michelle was tapped and they released her version. Great single with Michelle but our nation was robbed when this wasn't released as a single and video. I think sometimes in the past Tina has avoided releasing singles inbetween albums to avoid promotion and touring so often.
The author is Gregg Alexander, not Santana

@RoughBastard808: I don't think Michelle Branch's version is wack.
This is the first time I heard Tina's version & I have to admit that Tina did put a more refreshing twist on the song. I like it.

The record company was stupid not to release this version instead. Santana was also stupid to not fight to release THIS version.
