Hope IRB look the Rugby program in the USA. We will never take over American Football, but we can grow the game. Not every athlete in NCAA football, basketball, wrestling, hockey, will be a pro. This is who rugby should recruit. Strength in numbers and watch it take off.
Could we all just sit back and imagine how amazing the USA would be if more americans knew about rugby and gave it a shot. The top teams might have a serious foe. Good luck to Miles , he seems like the kind of ambassador american rugby needs.
@imortalsappy with Sevens in the 2016 Olympics coming up, one can only imagine the sport getting bigger there in the US. Would be awesome if they could develop it alongside football
This is why the US would be the best in the world. Once we decide to play we will be the best in the world. All those NCAA Div 1 football hopefuls who dont make it would be the best people to star on our team
I really like rugby and especially 7s, but the pompous attitude of some rugby fans and their foolish objections to the NFL like wearing helmets or timeouts turns me off to the sport. Aside from France the only countries that contend in rugby are the British Commonwealth Nations and the Home Nations(Wales, Scotland etc.). Fine if some fans here think that's a true world championship don't go attacking the Superbowl enjoyed by 300 million Americans and played by the USA's most elite athletes.
@USAHistory1 they dont understand what the protective gear in NFL is for, it enables bigger tackles and such. In rugby our tackles are all head on and 80% below the waist, while i notice in gridiron alot are blindside high tackles, so of course it makes sense to have the equipment. Not all of us rugby players/fans think low of the sport at all, ud be suprised how many would give it a go. - new zealander from a rugby mad country
@USAHistory1 No offense, but there's BILLIONS of rugby fans around the world. Of course, a bunch of them are going to be idiots and make fun of other sports they don't understand (gridiron). Americans don't really know anything about rugby, so they don't say anything about... I'm sure if gridiron had billions of fans, a lot o them would be jerks too. POINT IS the fans shouldn't turn you off a sport, there are a lot more fans (like me) who don't go around bashing different sports.
Billions???? LOL LOL - most people on the planet have never watched or played rugby. Get past the Commonwealth and a couple other places and it is non-existent. And I used to play rugby at a pretty high level and like the game (both codes) but lets not fantasise about its world wide appeal.
@newshamg Whilst I agree with you for the most part, I think you should look a the statistics on the growth of rugby around the world, particularly in South America and Russia. It's quite amazing to see how fast it's expanding.
@USAHistory1 don't be put off too much. i think the 'pompous attitude' is basically just youtube. nobody who actually bothers to try and get into american football can think that.
I dont understand why am football players are constantly refered to as pussies, simply because they wear pads. I dont seem this guy hurting without them, just got passed the conditioning part and hes good to go. Doesnt look like a pussy to me.
Let me enlighten a lot of you u.s. citizens who have little knowledge about this world sport of rugby. Unlike the NFL superbowl of which the winning team claims to be champion of the world by playing who? Pittsburg steelers? Greenbay packers? New York giants? Etc.
Rugby "World" Cup is where they crown the true world champion. 20 nations, 1 trophy. 80 minutes non stop, timeouts don't even exist.
@fsufan850 the pool your in all u got to do is beat ireland the other two should be easy no offence to them but when it comes to australia i dont think u got a chance but would love to see usa bet them so they dont even get out of there pool
@UHtiger Did you ever find out what happened to the other NFL converts peters and brazzer? I am watching the conversion closely. I wonder if they left the game(?) or if they had to quit to make a living(?) or if they were injured(?)

Just like the NCAA Collegiate Wrestling program means that America completely dominates Wrestling internationally?
How many medals did America win at last year's World Championship? That's right, ZERO.

Nice to see an athlete so enthused about the sport he's playing, it makes a nice change from all those dull interviews with major stars.
