  • duran duran have stolen many ideas from japan...

the bassline sounds like john taylor...the entire song sounds like duran

    japan rules !!

  • Great song and great album. Lucky those that saw them live! Lovely production on the album.

  • bassline is unreal

  • Please LOL at korkycat. Is it not irionic that a character with this kinda label could have a large ginger cat crawil in and back out his arse while, miraculously, masterbating to davy sylvian in the quiet life video?

Duran duran had and still do have a huge and successful career with virtually no simillarity to the now dead japan. duran duran = success, global, respected, millions of sales. huge concerts, dozens of well known songs and Japan = erm, they died, and nothing else!

  • @gregingram1970 Are you really 41 yrs old ????? if the answer is yes then fuckin grow up and act it !

  • @korkeycat hey grow up? you mean you have nothing in your locker to discuss, argue and insult or your implying by saying grow up that you are somehow above this? LOL

    You are a pussy.

  • @gregingram1970 Spot on genius u got i right first time, i left the school ground many years ago got married, had children and matured enough not to have agruments over the internet !!! grow up n try it, or are "U" above that ??????

  • @korkeycat Hey korkeycat...first of all, that is such a mature label to associate yourself with. Normally labels are used within the sphere of young adults and kids circle? LOL at that point. It is also my duty as an adult to address people who spout bullshit on posts on youtube. I, as a member of the online community, would like to uphold truth, honesty and freedom to say as you please, as long as its true! You failed to be truthful and so will be penalised accordingly.

  • What no name calling this time ?????? i am disappointed. oh yes i nearly forgot, can i ask why u put "LOL" did u imagine u had done or said something remotely funny ? or do u think u r 14 yrs old LOL ! LOL ! LOL ! LOL ! LOL ! LOL !!!! please read back what u have written. quote "I, as a member of the online community, would like to uphold truth, honesty and freedom" and hopefully u will realise just how pathetic u really are.........Jog on !

  • @korkeycat HI Korykycockhead...LOL you are super-funny! I enjoy this chat with you. in fact, LOL

I have to LOL because i want to communicate at your level. I want you to understand me. I think i have i write other than simple sentences then the meaning gets lost for you. and i wouldnt want that. i enjoy anatagonising you. LOL.

you are a thick cunt. LOL .

  • @korkeycat Jog on? my 12 year old niece says that phrase a lot. Jog on...what she means is - " i cant be bothered talking to you coz im stupid and i cannot think like an adult" but thats ok coz hes only 12. You, in contrast, are chronologically an adult, but with the mental evolution of an angry teenager. THat is you! your a boy trapped in a mans body !!! LOL LOL LOL>...

    Peter - korkycock-Pan!! LOL...LOL >>>>>LOL

  • @gregingram1970 What ?????? u have a "niece" and "he" is only 12yrs old ??? How the fuck does that work ?? well he/she obviously takes after you !!!!!!!!!! Jog on tough guy !

  • @korkeycat should have been 'she', I would have thought you would gather that you can have either a niece or nephew - a she or a he. You can nitpick all you like. I own you korky.

  • @gregingram1970 It seems to me that all you do is abuse people over the internet, otherwise known as "bullying". It would be interesting to know what you are really like when your not hiding behind your computer !!!! ; )

  • @korkeycat It would be interesting? LOL Peter pan.

I tell you this much judging by your manly physique in your video i think it would be a liberty to be agressive with you as you look defensless

  • @gregingram1970 You have just confirmed all i thought cheers "tough man" XXX

  • @korkeycat HI Korky...Im tough and your small. I take it the xxx's are kisses and this confirms what i thought - your bi sexual.

oh well a thick cunt who cant sing and a fairy.

  • @korkeycat Pet Pan!!! LOL LOL LOL

get this - Peter Pan Loves Japan!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!!

  • I could be considered one of the VERY VERY few Pakistni's to love Japan. This is one of my favorite songs from Quiet Life. I discovered them back in 1993 when I was 13 and I still love them.

  • @sirmoog ha ha great comment i love it !

  • Instead of "candy" for "Halloween" tonight put David Sylvain and Peter Murphy in my "bag" as a the BEST TREAT in the UNIVERSE so that I can take both home and DEVOUR those two GODS like CANDY!!!...

  • All treat - no trick!

  • Love Japan, like a dark Duran Duran, which is a very good combo! And yes I know they were around before DD, blah blah blah

  • @johnlovesbridge please dont compare Japan to Duran Duran, ther is no similarity watsoever

  • @korkeycat thats soooo super true wide ass - think duran duran (a Porche) and japan (a skate board).

    you thick cunt

  • @korkeycat You are so accurate there.at last you write facts!!

Duran duran have had 15 albums. Japan had 2 of note and most of these tracks were utter pish. Duran duran are a million miles more gifted creativley than pish poor and limp japan...

  • One thing I will say - and this relates to the uploader's comments about Japan playing live. There was a programme on the BBC fairly recently called 'Synth Britannia' (excellent programme) which showed live performances from a wide variety of post-punk bands between 1976 - 1986. Out of all the performers - including Ultravox, Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, New Order and The Human League, it was Japan's live performance of 'Ghosts' which stood out. It was absolutely exceptional.

  • ahead of its time..... excelllant..

  • "Artist: Japan

    Playing at Stealth,

    Nottingham on 25/06/2011"

    Advertising Fail....

  • Omg . Was there ever anything as good as this ?

  • Mick Kahn was a genius on bass, great rhythm, great song!!!

  • Okay, here is the skinny...Japan were way more original in sound, look, and feel than DD. Double D has some great songs, but Japan are on a level higher. Doesn't mean DD is a poor band (they aren't and I will excitedly be seeing them for the first time at Coachella in a month's time). I've listened to both of their entire catalogues and am an expert.

  • @loosemeatbeef That's a very fair statement and to be honest I think it's spot on :-)

  • I'd like to think they wrote this song for my birthday, but that would be downright narcisscissors. R.I.P. Mick Karn; an artist among thieves.

  • i love this track it has an upbeat sound with an eeerrriiee backdrop ,its just fucking great thanks to david and the rest of the band for doing what you did and not all that commercial shit like aaalll the other electro shit groups on the radio .jj7

  • I love Duran Duran and Japan and I happily accept the view that Duran were influenced by Japan. However, at the same time, I acknowledge that Japan themselves were influenced by T. Rex, Roxy Music, The New York Dolls and Giorgio Moroder. Duran Duran were influenced by Chic, Japan, Roxy Music and Bowie. BOTH bands have made amazing music, but Duran will always get more flack because they were "pretty boys" back in the day. If they were pig ugly, they'd be musical gods right now, mark my words.

  • @DuranFan09 hmm...Japan were pretty good looking too if not better looking than Duran Duran.

  • @sscrystal10 Vastly more :-)

  • @DuranFan09 hmm...Japan were pretty good looking too if not better looking than Duran Duran. Please DO LOOK AT THE PICTURE ABOVE

  • @DuranFan09 Much as I liked their 1st records as a kid, I strongly disagree that Duran Duran would be "musical gods" had they been "pig ugly". Japan were equally "pretty", yet their 'god-like' status has been assured since they were still together and that's simply down to the quality and originality of the work.

  • @blackmore4 duran duran were only similiar on one album to japan - that being Duran Duran. I think duran duran improved with Rio...and of course, put them into the commerical arena Japan couldnt get to (although it was cool to say they did not want that then and of course, to say Japan were not essentially a capitalised enterprise housed in pop music would be a lie).

  • @gregingram1970 wtf ?

  • Why all the Japan/Duran comparisons. I like both bands for different reasons. I like Duran because I think they made some fantastic records. I think they're album "Rio" is one of the best albums of the 80s. I don't think Japan have ever done an album as good as that but I love Japan especially The Art Of Parties (Not the version on Tin Drum, the verson on Exorcising Ghosts), Life In Tokyo, Halloween, Visions of China, Still Life In Mobile Homes, Methods Of Dance, Quiet Life, European Son etc etc

  • Mick's death is an absolute tragedy. A rare talent has left us behind begging for more.

  • R.I.P Mick Karn...One and only !

  • R.I.P MICK! sadly missed

  • R.I.P. Mick

  • rest in peace Mick. there will never be another bassist like you.

  • no Really! this is the coolest song EVER!!!

  • Whats with the duran duran similarities!

Oil on canvas....................Japan went into the stratosphere with a truly original atmospheric genre that was all their own.

    duran who!!!!

  • Mick karn is my hero!

  • Great song, whose lyrics are very apt for the "zeitgeist" of today?????????

  • Both Japan and Duran own quite a lot to Roxy Music and David Bowie not least Japan having new producer in John Punter who had worked with Roxy for this album. Bowie and Roxy (along Kraftwerk) were played in the clubs where the whole new romantic movement started before it had own bands. Japan revised their style for this album from previous two which were more guitar driven.

  • @konked And Colin Thurston, who used to be a studio engineer for Bowie, produced Duran Duran's first two albums (which was without doubt their finest work).

  • @DuranFan09 This proves that bands & their styles and things affecting it don't come out from a vacuum. Instead there are some who come close to the style with the elements and then something that summarises influences up appears. Now thinking of it all the bands mentioned here more or less existed when punk still was spitting around.E.g Duran Duran had the idea on mixing punk's energy with dance rhytms. And imo too true, Duran Duran took misguided steps after Rio allthough had hits.

  • maybe my fave Japan song. maybe, ever!

  • Surely is it not better to think that Japan had a positive effect on Duran Duran and not think it was anything other than taking the image and as Simon Napier Bell said ( Ex-Japan Manager) make good old fashioned foot to the floor music made up as pretty boys and conquered the world... i applaud them for that that as a major Japan/Sylvian fan and don't look upon the comparison as valid because of the different values and outlooks of both bands at the time.

  • Wow. A big stir about Duran Duran vs. Japan? I never heard of Japan til recently via David Sylvian but I can hear the similarities in the tracks I've sampled so far. I still like Duran Duran been taking crap for liking DD for 26 years. Egads. :-/ I look forward to checking out some more JAPAN.

  • Rhodes when back stage looking for Barbieris settings.. add that + JT said if he played fretless ( Karnesk ) they would be japan...

  • @greginggram, ah, I see, you are tone deaf, PO'd by that fact, and think a band is good because they sold gobs of records to teenie bopping idiots who liked their hair and clothes more than that of Japan because they're easier to find at the mall! So by your logic I guess that Springsteen is more artistic than Duran or Japan because he sold more records than either and "Born to Run" is easier to hum ? I got it, you think Bananarama is better because you would rather date the lead singer? LOL !!!

  • One of there best songs, timeless*

sometimes i wonder; are there people (in Holland) listening to this stuff those days??

  • AWSOME....

  • I always find this the album that showed where they were going with there style....and they did grow with every album

  • It easily can be a song for some Scooby Doo film, show, cartoon.....

  • Excellent band remember listening to them in my teens and nobody will ever sound like they did never got the recognition they deserved and im 44 now still love their unique sound love them to bits

  • Stop the pointless poncey catfighting. Japan was the quality art band and Duran Draino decided to sell out and be commercialites. If you can't get that by just listening to the music and figuring that out then you are brain dead. LOL !!! Having said that, Duran Draino was still a fun band and I really like "Ordinary World", the one tune they did that was artistically valid. Duran Draino was like Adam Ant, fun and gay before gay meant ... you know. LOL !

  • @videocanone artistically valid? what shite you talk. japan are not some kind of wonderful artisic musical art form??? they wrote pop songs and wore make up and tried very hard to sell records. they were not clever enough to maximise their appeal. perhaps that why there aint a day goes by when i dont hear duran duran on the radio and i think it must be 1987 the last time i heard japan on the radio...food for thought eh?

  • thx gregingram1970 for your always very interesting factual and real informations on those bands (it is changing compared to some others fanatics, yep). :) |just to irritate a little more Japan durans haters hehe ;). ps; well, at least Rhodes had more tastes in his ties! too ;):) ].

  • A blast from the past!!

  • japan fans are delusional and like to believe any affirmitive story out there regardless how tenuous the link to fact.

  • @shockmastershocksu what exaclty does tell anyone? I dont see the link here? as for bass playing, all duran duran fans know that bernard edwards was the man behind john taylors bass. as for repeating myself, well funny coz you fairires keep spewing the same lies/storeis/weirdness about how japan are basically the formative influences of duran duran and not only that bascially copied their ablums that were good and not a single other musician or band counts.

  • @shockmastershocksu i dont hate japan. i like some of their stuff but some of it is shite.

  • @shockmastershocksu of course it is...its based on evidence. i aint heard duran duran cite japan ever - quiet life and planet earth - the prized piece of evdience from japan fans eh? well, if you listen to planet earth and blondies - atomic you will hear where planet earth came from. in fact, quiet life sounds like blondie too?jkey influences are roxy/bowie/krautrock/t rex/sex pistols/chic/velvet undeground/joni mitchell - as have been cited by duran duran dozens of times.

  • @shockmastershocksu having an opinion is nothin to do with growing up. its intoxixating to read comments by retards making phoney claims about japan and how duran duran ripped them off...as i said in past, what elements of a view to a kill was it that duran duran stole off japan? exactly - there arent any

  • @gregingram1970 LOL dude, youre a fuggin idiot. What are you even doing here? If you dont like Japan, then why are you commenting on a page with their song on it? LOL As far as their originality, THEY ARE very original, you dumbass.

  • @gregingram1970 EVERYBODY is influenced by somebody. I dont care who youre talking about. BOWIE, ROXY, NEW YORK DOLLS, ETC dont sound a thing like these guys. You can definitely see the influence that the earlier bands had on them, but Sylvian and the rest of the guys definitely made this sound their own. How about you go leave a comment somewhere where you actually know what youre talking about MORON. rofl

  • @crazyinjun022207 you know nothing...and you are in denial. its you who dont know what you on about thck cunt

  • @crazyinjun022207 oh yes they do. japan had influences im afraid to inform you just like oasis did of the bealtes and japan and...?

  • love it....

  • colin thruston produced durans firs 2 albums-he produced david bowie roxy music in past-duran duran have cited literally hundreds of times that roxy music david bowie new york dolls velvet underground and lou reed chic as their formative inlfunces...i have yet to read japan and duran duran in the same sentence except on youtube in my 20 odd years as a fan of mainly duran and of japan. i think duran would have been happier with thurston than a japan guy who copied the same bands as duran duran.

  • Check out my channel for both Duran Duran and especially Japan/Sylvian/YMO/Sakamoto et al.

  • september she knows.loved this band so much

  • i would imagine it would depend on your musical tastes..and this is a great album...but i can t but think that there are many greater live bands than these guys...no offence intended

  • they were really good live actually, what have you heard? There are several live recordings around actually and Oil On Canvas isn't even the best representation.

  • @paintedship do they have a Be Bop Deluxe connection?

  • no not that I'm aware of

  • MIKCURIE- You talk Bullshit pure and simple! TeeHee!

  • I was in Tescos last month and they were playing this track by the halloween costume display! Made my day!

  • I was there! Do you remember all the DS lookalikes in the lobby of Hammersmith Odeon? I also saw them in Brighton later on, I think Blancmange opened for them. I have everything they've ever done on vinyl or mp3. This song was one of the best ever tracks, the intro drum roll start is amazing, always gets me. That and quiet life...just massive stream of talent. Imagine being an 18 year old kid and getting home with the LP under your arm, relishing the moment the needle hit the vinyl. Thanks!

  • @87oceans Total agreement! I bought the Assemblage Compilation on cassette (it wasn't available on vinyl if my memory serves me rightly)? I played it so much the tape snapped and I managed to find another one after some searching cos this was back in '82. The level of musicianship on this track is exceptional, particularly Steve Jansen and Mick Karn. I think that me constantly rewinding the drum intro was the reason the first tape snapped lol.

  • lol! Yeah, the digital revolution has been great for musicians and listeners alike. No more rewinding tape! I still kept all my albums on cassette tape and vinyl though, and I hear vinyl is making a comeback now that people are realizing there is a difference between good old analogue sounding gear like record players, and clinically clean digital mp3 and CD media.

  • i was there also, sorted gig.!!!!!

  • yeah but when those young dudes got together they sounded so incredible they blew all their peers, before and after, out the water..

  • you do realize this was 30 years ago? You sound totally jealous of this band. DD did copy Japan but I don't think Sylvian really gives a hell anyway.

  • Japan fans aren't jealous of the success DD had at all first off. How can you pigeon hole a whole group of fans of a band? Many Japan fans are in fact fans of DD as well you realize? DD themselves are FANS of this band and to say they didn't influence them at all is INSANE. They've publicly admitted to being influenced by this band and they are fans of them. Your views are really, really biased.

  • they're not solely responsible but its hard to deny they aren't an influence what about these facts-

-duran duran members approaching Japan to produce their first album

-Nick Rhodes saying Visions of China is his favorite song by them and playing their video

-Rhodes and Taylor saying they waited on line the day Quiet Life album came out

-Roger Taylor mentions being a fan in a recent tour book

-the similarities between planet earth and quiet life

    is that enough for you?

  • I'm nauseating because you don't like facts t I posted in a discussion? you're the troll posting all this shit bashing Japan. I never said anything about you personally, pretty low shot.

  • @fiendwithoutaface66 im not a troll. im discussing your statements that, to me, sound, basically, stupid and biased. so, as i wander through videos and being attacked by such foolish and non-factual biased value judegments from yourself i feel obligated to respond to your comments. im happy to lock swords. bring it on.

  • @fiendwithoutaface66 i dont see that as indicative of anything really? what do you want me to believe after those statements? duran duran dont really sound like japan. planet earth only has one simlialriy with quiet life - jupiter 8 synth loop that is the back bone of planet earth and quiet life yet planet earth as much more bass and lead guitar and is more in a roxy muisc/blondie/sex pistols vein. im sorry, but the are not that alike. duran duran are just better than japan. end of.

  • @fiendwithoutaface66 playing a video by a band is indicative of modelling a career of another band? thats not logical really is it? im waisting time responding to people of your calibre and who are unable to break free from their chains of nostaligia and hero worship over japan. no matter what - duran duran have much more better material by a long long and very long way than japan.

  • @fiendwithoutaface66 Yeah, you're right...Duran Duran were blatantly influenced by Japan, it's so obvious...in my opinion, Japan had more charm, more class, dare I say....Duran Duran were a bit too poppy for me, I mean, I like some of their songs, but their videos were crass

  • @oogie11 I like early DD, including the videos. I could understand someone saying they're crass for sure though- they were to sell and push the records and they definitely worked. I think as the fame got to their heads and they got lazy though. Their third album is really lacking compared to the first two. They also had a huge stage show (Arena- the backup singers, band, etc.) It all just lost me there. I like Japan much more but it was because of DD that I even started listening.

  • @fiendwithoutaface66 i own the same bass as john taylor and im a bass player 37 years old.. I loved duran duran they were huge in the states..but once i heard japan saw them duran duran dropped way down in my book..nick looks like david doesnt he? You know nick produced kajagoogoo's white feathers? I dunno I love japan and im very sad that mick karn is dying...I own everything they ever did solo david and mick, those guys were my idols.

  • @fiendwithoutaface66 I wish I had this back in high school when friends mocked me for listening to "Japan Duran"

  • @fiendwithoutaface66 wow i never knew that and im a huge duran fan. is there much else u know about thwe facts of duran and japan? is that all true. and did japan reject duran??

  • @fiendwithoutaface66 ...small point but there was no "....on line" for Rhodes and Taylor to be waiting on when the Quiet Life LP came out.

  • @077glenn He meant in line u dolt. ;)

  • Sorry think I got the dates wrong there, Hammy Odeon was probably also 1981 and Drury Lane 1982. It was a while ago anyway :)

  • if you go to NIGHTPORTER d o t CO d o t UK you can find a list and information about their tours. I would've liked to have seen any but I wasn't born yet! I'm having a hard enough time finding the live recordings that are out there.

  • Saw them three times, The sell out gig at the Lyceum in 1981, then Hammy Odeon in 1982 and Drury Lane in 1983 (I think). Lyceum was the best with Barbara Thompson on sax. This is probably the song that first hooked me. Anyone know what the hell its about? I've never been able to figure it out. Something to do with the Berlin wall but I don't see what that has to do with Halloween.

  • GOD!!!!!!!!

I love this song, so creepy, so brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!

    ¡¡¡¡¡JAPAN THE BEST!!!!!

  • My biggest regret is not seeing Japan live, I did catch David Sylvian a couple of years back but to see these songs live is a dream sadly gone...

  • Ok, this is the song that Duran Duran made a career out of....Le Bon phoned Steve Nye (Japans Manager) asked to speak to Sylvian, Sylvian said ok, spoke to him....Le Bon, produce our new album.....Sylvian, ok, but why produce something we have already done?..

  • Comment removed

  • Best song in the world!!!!

  • So...fucking...brilliant.

Why didn't they achieve to the levels of Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, etc?! They were BRILLIANT!

  • They were ahead of their time, when people are ahead of their time they get overlooked and, eventually, plagiarised.

  • True, unfortunately :(

  • I totally agree with you zzzsjp because I attended

that last series of concerts in 1982. It was in Paris at " le Palace" if I remember it well and the concert

was absolutely FAN-TAS-TIC! I really miss that band a lot and I think it was a VERY big mistake to split up!

  • and lets not forget heaven 17 or holly johnsons solo material after he left japan before forming frankie goes to holllywood.

  • You're thinking of the group Big In Japan sir - Totally differant acts.

  • Why doesn't anyone mention Ultravox! (with Foxx)? They were innovators too. Along with Japan's ' Obscure Alternatives' and ' Quiet Life', Ultravox!'s 'System of Romance' marked the beginnings of the New Romantic-era. Though in my opinion Bowie's 'Low' was the very first and best New-Romantic album.

  • If you listen to despair and the other side of life from quiet life i think that Sylvian must have been listening to Low at that time, Japan just brought it all together in such a different and unique way. A lot of avant gaurde and poisturing but behind it was a very talented band who never got the acclaim they deserved. Ultravox and Duran Duran have their place but there is no debate Japan where and will be forever a truly original band ahead of its time. Intelligent post by the way.

  • Thanks for the comment mate. I'll continue by listening the tracks you suggested from Quiet Life.

  • yes ultravox is forgotten, but you also need to mention roxy music. low was in 77. roxy started in 72 and japan obviously borrows from them more than ultravox or bowie.

  • It's OK to carry an influence (Bowie 'stole' from many sources, Lou Reed, Iggy Stooge, Anthony Newly etc etc) it's all about being able to carry it off along with being inventive in the process... Duran Duran just didn't cut the mustard in that regard, whereas Japan, in the end DID ... and look at Sylvian now - a true artist , an evolution, he just keeps getting better... Duran Duran just do not. They made more money though, which was the aim I suppose.

"By their fruits ye shall know them"

  • @BloggStandard lets not forget that duran duran made more than japan coz they sold more material and of course were morse successful in selling their music than japan were...japan were just poorly sold to the public. of course, they were not as good as duran duran either and thast esstntially why they made less money...but both bands had a good stab at the commerical music scene...

  • Listen to "Last Chance on the Stairway" by Duran Duran, then tell me that they didn't take any cues from Japan.

  • Mick Karn's bass is the best ive ever heard, in fact the whole band are brilliant, such craft, remember this was 1979, didnt get the acclaim they deserved. Apart from those in the know.

  • you are so right . i love them too bits

  • NEVERMIND !!!! I love Japan and Duran Duran !!

the most important is music !!!

    Japan was unique !!!

  • top track.

  • Never mind this Japan/DD debate both bands owe their existence to Bowie and especially Roxy Music. However Japan brought a lot to the show.

  • Yes, it's obvious that Japan did influence DD. This album was out in '79 and DD's first album was '80. As far as underrated, I think they're one of the MOST underrated bands there is. Though I like both bands, I still like Japan more.

  • This album was so ahead of its time. I can understand the comparison with Duran Duran. But Japan came first.

  • one of the greatest bands i know!!

  • Ja he! Ben ook een echte, diehard fan... kijk maar op mijn favorieten of playlists. Ben zelfs om de hoek van de 4 Japan leden gaan wonen in 1983.. How dedicated can you get? Benieuwd naar jouw ervaringen.

  • You have to be a musician to really hear it. Not sure if you are or not, but there is a similarity between the two songs.

  • Love this album...

  • Thats cos its class n was totally different to everything around at the time, one of the most underated bands of there time.....

  • So great still! Such a shame that there will never be a Japan reunion !!

  • 懐かしい・・・

    Japanは本国イギリスより日本での評価の方が高かったですよね

  • Saw them at the Lyceum in early '81 with a female guest sax player who's name escapes me. Best gig I've ever been to. Saw them twice after that but it was never the same. They were a brilliant band though. Never quite matched by Sylvian's solo stuff. Barbieri's good in Porcupine Tree though.

  • Comment removed

  • This is the track that got me into Japan. A girlfriend was really into them and kept playing this all the time. I was a punk and not really interested until this caught my attention and I was hooked. Love those Barbieri wafting keyboards. Anyone know what its about? Something about dividing Germany but no idea what that has to do with Halloween!

  • This is truly one of Japan's best tracks. What's funny is that it sounds like Duran Duran's Rio, that came out just a couple of years later, especially during the opening bass line. Makes one think...

  • I saw them live at the Hammersmith in the early 80's... they were absolutely brilliant!

  • I saw them at Liverpool Empire about 81/82 i think, Sylvian in a shiny lilac suit i was blown away never forget it....

  • it kinda looks like a movie poster of The Dark Knight with The Joker smearing blood on a glass wall.

  • Absolutely brilliant !

I was there at Hammersmith when the curtain came down.........Loved them then......Still do.
