Kamikaze attacks was just a waste. 27 ships sunk for a loss of over 3,000. planes and men. Works out at over a 100 planes per ship but in truth, more suicide pilots were killed in the air rather than crashing into ships. Kamikaze tactics was adopted because the Japanese military had lost so many experienced pilots,and the replacements were too poorly trained due to a speeded up training program, so it was decided to use them as human guided bombs. Not much honour there, just expediency.
