Making Hello Dolly Bars

I've made these with just lemon j,condensed milk,dry oatmeal,butter and brown sugar,they're fantasic and an old recipe.They're also called Hello Dollies but I recipe is really called other names like 7 layer bars etc.

that's because it's condensed milk, is very sweet.

don't use regular milk :)

Because it is a very sweet cream.

Why its called milk is beyound me.. but do not use regular milk. It would be HORRIBLE.

Hey does anyone know if tin foil could be used in place of the parchment paper? I was going to try this recipe on Christmas but never got around to it, but thought what the heck, I'll go ahead and give it a try and see if it's a good recipe anyhow. So again, does anybody know who has tried this recipe if tin foil could be used instead of parchment to line my pan with? Thanks for any help you might be able to offer me :-)

It's actually sweetened condensed milk, which is nothing like evaporated milk. Evaporated milk would just ruin it.

@sh97 The real Hello Dollies is an old recipe like this from way back.These bars are also called 7 layer bars which is the better title.Hello Dollies from the old days are made with lemon j,condensed milk, butter,brown sugar and dry oatmeal.
