On normal, I was able to use the knife to slash his eye at the opening. Make sure you slash at an angle (it takes some patience to get it right, you'll know you did it right when blood shoots from the eye). On normal though, I just used the rocket launcher when Salazar was exposed...
another good strategy is to stand way on one side of the area because only one of salazars arms can get you can he cant perform his one hit kill move and you have a clear shot at his head.
a good stargety that i know is when the battle starts go to the far right ledge and camp there, and shoot his eye, his tentacles cant get you except for one which can be easly disabled.
Actually, you can knife the Regens and the Iron Maidens, it just takes forever for them to die and you have to get lucky knifing the leg off before you follow up with the rest of the body. Just a pointer in case you are going to do that, KaiWii.

Nope, it's impossible to knife Salazar here. Also impossible to beat the game without projectiles of some sort.

getting chomped by salazar's middle arm (with the eye) is an instant kill... so he definitely didn't want that to open up and chomp him :)
