  • I learned perfect pitch, check the video on my account to see you can learn this ability. Perfect Pitch is as beautiful as it appears to be.

  • He is so amazinn no matter what he does.<333

  • Lol it's in C major too, the white keys on the piano.

  • pahaha, leehommm.

    so adorable. xDD

  • well he never said that it was Bb C D and F. so he may not have perfect pitch, but it was tuned very corectly :D

  • she was speaking cantonese to him and he was replying in chinese????? huh???

  • @purdyredfoxy ...she was speaking cantonese and he was speaking mandarin... theyre both dialects of chinese XD

  • 太好了!!!

    我爱王力宏

  • doood amazin!!!! :D that is so cooool! :D leehom is awesome!!! <3

  • haha Lee Hom and his juice. love the treble clef bling when he plays the drum. :P

  • even using only juice and glass, he can produce music. leehom is the most talented person in music, i think.

  • that's not demonstrating perfect pitch..

  • sure it is, he was able to "tune" the notes to the key of C without reference.

  • how not

  • lol it`ll be awsome spending a day with leehom even if there`s nothing to do he`ll think of something xD he even makes banging glasses look like so much fun lol

  • thts amazing

  • he is too genius LOL;

  • Perfect pitch, as science suggests, seems to be learned. But it most likely can only be learned from an early age like the way you learn a first language.

  • haha she asked in cantonese but he answered in mandarin....so cute^^

  • that's called relative pitch.... not perfect pitch. but still pretty cool!

  • my favourite word,

    AWESOME

  • what does he say from 1:09 to 1:12

  • "He will invite his friends". Trying to get around the question about asking his 'rumoured girlfriends' to attend his shows.

  • he's speaking in mandarin.... its actually the only part i understand... lol

  • Lol. The only part I understood was "Mary had a little lamb."

(Yes. I know this is very old.)

  • me too..:P i don't understand cantonese, i didnt even know that it's cantonese :D

  • he misses one repetition! hehe the E (third glass) hehe

  • omg. he's absolutely really good. talented ^^

  • what does tai ouu chou mean? or whatever he was saying about the funky looking glass of liquid??

  • "Too dirty"

  • He's saying it's "too dirty."

  • that means it's too dirty

but i dont know why he would say that instead of saying there's too much

  • cos dirty means theres particles so its also too much, in a way. lol.

he said the same about the orange juice saying theres seeds or something

  • i think he means the sound is dirty--meaning its not right.

  • I think he meant it's too dirty

  • leehom's musical skill is just amazing. but by having pitch perfect doesn't mean being good singers or musicians, but leehom is a definitely a great singer and musician. actually this video doesn't really show how amazing leehom is. the video of leehom playing 10 instruments one is really amazing.

  • so cute when he spoke canto!!!

  • BAHA i love th e "no guarantee? doesnt matter."

  • freaking cool!

  • So why is Takashi Kaneshiro in this video for like 3 seconds?

  • 不坏。但是我知道他将能更好地当他是老年人

  • so lonely tonight on cam have msn!!! msg me jane22fall J

  • OMMMMMMMMMMMG, that was so awesomeee.

  • lee hom so clever in music...

hope he can do my type of music in his every new album....gambatte..

  • There they go again with Shu Qi. 氣死了! But he always knows how to keep his cool, which is why he rocks.

  • what's shu qi have to do with lee hom?? what's their relationship???

  • Here we go again with Shu Qi. 很八卦啊, 她. 氣死了. But he always knows how to keep his cool, which is why he rocks.

  • how quick you can hear a chord progression, the type of chords:sus4,M13,dim etc...all this is relative pitch.Perfect pitch wouldnt make you be able this, but have an adavntage.

  • relative pitch is the major toosl for any musician. While perfect pitch is a blessing to have, but it will never make anyone a better musician, and no way. Both thins is completely different, and realtvie pitch is the one which helps you a better player,composer........

  • haah..that's pretty darn good!!

    <3 leehom!!

  • ok, that just amazed me XDD~~ but dont know if it would be the same if it wasnt leehom~~ haha~~

yea, ho sai lai ar~~ XDD~~

  • Relative pitch is a learned and aquired skill. It's knowing where the notes are by reason of use like this guy. Classically trained professional singers and musicians tend more to this because of sight singing and playing. This type of person could be given a peice of sheet music and work out what to sing - because of practise and past experince. One isn't nessecarily better than the other - theyre just differrent ways of processing information.

But hey, I'm no expert or anything!

  • Okay so....perfect pitch isn't learned, it is something you either have or haven't got (in my experience as a vocal tutor, alot of the very good professional backing singers are pitch perfect. They may not be able to say this is B or C but they can immedietly sing/ play the key of any song.) People who play by ear tend to be pitch perfect. It's natural. That type of person could sing a song that they learned two weeks ago in exactly the same key without prompting from a musician.

  • No, you can learn absolute pitch by using trigger tunes. Go ahead and google it and actually try it like I did before arguing with me.

  • Hey, question. I've been wondering if I have perfect pitch. My friends like to test me by making me turn around and asking me to guess the chords they play and I always get them right. Also, they can play notes on the guitar and I can play them also without looking at them. I am not a singer but I can sing any pitch without slurring into it, I can always tell 3 part harmonies by ear, and I recognize chords with upper extensions...like lets say an A7b9 or A7#11. Do I have perfect pitch?

  • My friends like to test me by making me turn around and asking me to guess the chords they play and I always get them right. -> yes

  • meh lay ga.. ha ha ha.. I love his mando accent. Nice demonstration as always.

  • hao saii leeeii

  • wait, the lady is interviewing her in canto and he's answering in mandarin. does he understand canto as well? hes amazing, i love him

  • I dont care whether perfect pitch is naturally born or can be learned, but one thing sure is having a perfect pitch does not make you a better musician/singer AT ALL. So I think trying to learn perfect pitch is simply waste of time, it's better spend more time to train in techniques and musicianships.

  • Of course AP can make you a better musician, even though it's far from essential. For example, when you're jamming with someone you can tell what key to join in just by listening. And if a piece modulates to a non-related key, you'd have a hard time following along with just relative pitch. Plus you can just start singing a piece without reference. Also, being able to hear the tone colors increases musical enjoyment.

  • I dont care whether perfect pitch is naturally born or can be learned, but one thing sure is having a perfect pitch does not make you a better musician/singer AT ALL. So I think trying to learn perfect pitch is simply waste of time, it's better spend more time to train in techniques and musicianships.

  • I think being born with perfect pitch is a myth. My proof is that no one can be born and KNOW whether such an such note is an E or Eb becuase you learn to associate such pitches to what is arbitrarly chosen as A 440hz.

  • Your "proof" is invalid. Wether you call 440Hz an A or an F is irrelevant - absolute pitch is being able to associate musical tones with labels and remember them at will without reference. Currently, the majority of research indicates that some people have a genetic predisposition to be able to associate absolute pitches with labels. Such people can learn AP at an early age without specifically trying.

  • OMG! i luv this guy! he's so awesomly talented!!! :]

  • I hate people with perfect pitch who say im naturally better then you so im just plain better than you.

I could beat someone shitless over that

  • um you couldn't be more off. I have it and I'm one of the nicest people you will ever meet. My brother has it as well and he isn't arrogant what so ever.

  • leehon is freakin awesome. i love how he can listen and tell if it's on tune or not, and what to do to make it the right note. lol, he's so cute~~

  • perfect pitch is aquirable, anyone who thinks otherwise doesnt know what they're talking about. the only reason why children can learn perfect pitch quicker is the fact that their ear hasn't been conditioned as much

  • That's pretty cool, but I don't see how that proves he has perfect pitch?

  • My piano teacher thinks I may have perfect pitch. She will play random notes on the piano and make me tell her what they are, but I have to do it fast. I still have trouble with E and F but other than that, it's good. I find it a curse really, you hear something and you have to go run and find a piano to see if it's right : (

  • AHAHA i do that xD

  • Haha I do that.

But for E, I just think of the starting note of the Tetris theme in original key :D

  • I don't have perfect pitch. But I could do this using relative pitch. I could also get very close to being in the key of C if I tried humming it first, since I'm familiar with my vocal range.

  • is this in english??

  • no.. its in mandarin and a little bit of cantonese. x

  • LEEHOM<3

  • i wish i had perfect pitch. i have the worst sense of pitch ever... i have no clue how i would tune my violin without a tunner. its so sad

  • OMG, leehom is so talented...cool...i love him....

  • That's impressive! He's so talented!

  • i think i have flawed pitch >.> lol. like i can listen to songs and learn them by ear, but it takes a long time.

  • I've got perfect pitch. It is useful when it comes to learning and playing songs without having the chords available. It is also useful when learning mathematics, as I do. So it is just to practice, or be born with it to really get the advantage :D

  • How is it useful for learning math? I have perfect pitch but I'm just wondering...

  • If you train to the insane, you can eventually obtain perfect pitch, its just really...hard...

  • how do you know, have you done it?

  • im not sure if i have perfect pitch. my band teacher says i do, my dad says i do.

  • if you recognize a note by just hearing it, then you have perfect pitch. listen to a classical piece or any song with clear melody and see if you can place them in the music sheet as you hear them.

  • does anybody know the name of this show? and the hosts name would be helpful as well, i need it for an essay as i'm writing a report on Wang Lee Hom and i though it would be interesting to refer to this.

  • WOWW HES BRILLIANT!!

    LEE HOM<3

  • only like 1-10,000 (or 1000 i forgot) people are born with perfect pitch not everyone

  • He is hot!!!!

  • Actually everyone is born with perfect pitch, just that its lost if it isn't maintained starting from a young age.

  • interesting theory. believable. and if anyone cares, yes, you can re-develop perfect pitch through training. it's like seeing, tasting, etc. it's cool to have perfect pitch. music has more flavor!

  • Everyone is born with the potential but not everyone is born with the skill. The only way I can see it is "learnable" is when at a young age and your brain is still developing you can learn new skills extremely fast. Exposure to tonal reference at a extremely young age can trigger perfect pitch. That is why so many Asian children have perfect pitch because their native languages are based tonal references. Especially Cantonese and Vietnamese.

  • First off, I have perfect pitch. Developed by age 15. I am 17 now and I believe that anyone at any age could learn it. I'm thinking of posting a YouTube video really soon on how to develop perfect pitch with 2 easy steps.

Oh and I'm not full of it either.

  • I don't understand what's supposed to be so special about it. I'm not even much of a music fan and never sing, only recently started playing an instrument but I've been told I have perfect pitch.

  • by whom and for what reason?

  • interesting.

  • its cuz he plays violin..string players need good ears :)

  • i luv lee hom i evn got an free poster from lee hom (The Heroes Of The Earth)with his signature on it...nice video too

  • If you don't have perfect pitch, you can learn to develop relative pitch. However, you cannot learn to develop perfect pitch...you have to be born with that.

  • I beg to differ, there are courses that you can take to develop perfect pitch. Many musicians benefit from it since they can appreciate the different tones of music.

  • But I think those trained "perfect pitch" musicians will never reach the level of the born ones. Perfect pitch, in my opinion, is when you can instantly recognize a note. I feel like you can't train to that point... I may be wrong, though. University of California has done studies that show that perfect pitch is a genetic thing.

  • i kinda agree with you, but i think trained perfect pitch people rely on Relative pitch, on the other hand the born perfect pitch people can name the pitch of anything and can get a perfectly tuned pitch without relative tuning.

  • there's nothing he can't do!

  • I was born with perfect pitch. it's more of a curse than a gift. my brain goes absolutely crazy when someone is out of tune, or if an original song is performed in the wrong key. Sometimes I wish I didn't have it.

  • oh shit mhsmep123 u got perfect pitch? so do i homie no joke im just like u but i see it somewhat like an advantage to my musical ability but it irritates the hell outta me when something is not in tune... i think im like the only black dude wit perfect pitch tho lol i kno that leehom dude played the mary had a lamb song in c major

  • oh shit mhsmep123 you got perfect pitch? so do i homie but i think i'm like the only black dude wit it lol... that Asian dude is playin mary had a lamb in the key of c major on the glass and it also irritates the hell outta me when somethin isn't played in tune but it's cool cause it helps me musically

  • oh shit mhsmep123 you got perfect pitch? so do i homie but i think h'm like the only black dude wit it lol... that Asian dude is playing Mary had a lamb in the key of c major on the glass and it also irritates the hell outta me when something isn't played in tune but it's cool cause it helps me musically

  • oh shizzle mhsmep123 you got perfect pitch? so do i homie but i think i'm like the only black dude wit it lol... that Asian dude is playin mary had a lamb in the key of c major on the glass and it also irritates the heck outta me when somethin isn't played in tune but it's cool cause it helps me musically

  • Me too. I HATED playing in orchestra. The bass or the cello players would drive me nuts. Even when I play guitar, I have to constantly tune. Sometimes I wish I didn't have it but it is VERY beneficial.

  • I need perfect pitch!

  • I'm not born with perfect pitch but i was born with good relative pitch. What Leehom did here, a perfect pitch is not needed, but rather a good relative pitch is essential. But what he did is still amazing.

  • same comment here @airchina23

  • and yeah I'm gonna practise this lol!

  • The glasses are C, D, E and G I think. He did very well to be that close on pitch on the spot like that.

  • I've been trying to develop perfect pitch for about 9 or 10 months now (technically a year). Anyways I can always sing just about on pitch, but I'm still never 100% on what note I'm singing yet but it's coming along quickly.

  • of course you can develop it i did

  • you cant develope perfect pitch, you can only develope relative pitch

  • Lies. I've developed perfect pitch as well. it just takes practice, is all. You need to spend a great deal of time playing music and getting familiar with the different individual tones.

  • It is not possible to "learn" perfect pitch. You're either born with it or you're not. You can learn to memorize notes but that is not perfect pitch. The best way to test if you have the ability is to identify notes in a song you have never heard before or in everyday sounds like a car horn.

  • Yes it is its something we are all born with but most lose due to underuse, I had it and lost it cuz i never plaed instruments but i know have the ability limitedl and im trying to expand it

  • That's bullshit. You can acquire perfect pitch through practice. Obviously you'll have to know how to get there. If you do, all that stands in your way is a lot of practice and determination.

  • Sooooo untrue. Perfect pitch, also called absolute pitch, is something you are born with and can later learn to identify. The point about perfect pitch is there is no reference pitch needed to give the pitch requested. However, anyone can develope good relative pitch, which may seem like perfect pitch but not quite, because with relative pitch you use a reference pitch, often a tuning note of the instrument you play, like

A440, that is constantly on your mind. There is a difference.

  • THEN ITS FUCKING HARD TO GET IT RIGHT?

  • Are you retarded?

  • I agree completely. It's a myth that needs to die. I acquired perfect pitch at age 19.

I also agree with Blazey20. Some people with natural perfect pitch do come off as a little arrogant, which is especially annoying since it isn't as great as everyone thinks. Relative pitch is all you need.

  • Actually some studies shows that you can't aquire perfect pitch through training. You are born with perfect pitch but it dissapears if you don't maintain it. But you can aquire a relative pitch. Myself, I know C and G and can find my notes from there

  • actually psychology says otherwise... we all have the potential to have perfect pitch but other cognitive processes such as language inhibit our ability to have it unless we were exposed to music at a young age. to learn it after 1 year of age is next to impossible.

  • Also, you must be able to identify notes instantly, without having to think about it. Another characteristic of true perfect pitch ability.

  • Well what if you have no knowledge of music theory?

  • How?

  • Considering I am now taking AP Music Theory,I am fairly sure perfect pitch CAN indeed be developed. Maybe not everyone can achieve the same level of perfect pitch as those born with it, but SOME people can! My music teacher is an example!

  • Song is in C, I have pitch.

    I either got it/learned when I was 18.....

I'm the #1 PPP on Prolobe.

    some insight huh?

the note scale IS A MAN MADE INVENTION.

Thus, you have to learn the names of the notes. Keep that in mind when people spout born/with/it again.

  • I have perfect pitch, in fact I learned to play guitar at 10 years old, and in 6 months I could recognize notes, I never practiced I borned with that ability, my father (R.I.P) was musician, I think is something about genes, I can sing the exactly note, recognize one note, two or three notes played at the same time, like a wrong chord Ex;f,b,a at the same time, but practicings helps a lot

  • WTH thats just pro..

  • I have perfect pitch too. It's an ability you must be born with, then develop it with exercises and practice.

  • lee hom...you make pittsford proud!

  • first of all you cant develope perfect pitch. You can develop good relative pitch but not perfect. It wont be even close to what people who are born with it have. My gf was born with it and she says that she sees different pitches as different colors in her head and shes dead on every time. And shes pretty hot too.

  • not only does she have perfect pitch but she has Synesthesia as well.

  • he's such a total kid at heart!

    adorableeee!

  • is he the most perfect human being or wat..

  • how cute

  • I've got perfect pitch as well.. (:

    YAY FOR LEEHOM. (:

  • Holy Sugar Honey Iced Tea his english is hawt...

  • you don't actually need to have perfect pitch to do things like this. but I think he does have perfect pitch...cause check it out on the piano

  • leehom is so smart, with the perfect pitch and the usage of the straw to add the juice,,no wonder he got accepted to top notch univs like havard yale

  • You could do the same thing with relative pitch. But I thing this guy is playing with perfect. ie his A is spot on not sharp or flat. Kudos to him! Im working on getting perfect pitch, hopefully it pays off.

  • How do you practice perfect pitch? I need to know, lol. Like I know relative pitch but perfect pitch... ><

  • you dont practice it you have to be born with it or you develop a really strong relative pitch

  • you cant get it you have to be born with it it is a natural gift.

  • everyone is capable of doing this with training so everyone is born with it

  • It is a mere 10% that are born with perfect pitch. You have to be BORN with perfect pitch... you can't train your brain to reprogram it's sensitivity to pitch. It's a fact.

  • 1 out of 10,000 actually

  • bistor39 has done the research. it's around 1 to 10,000. we all have the potential to have perfect pitch, but after a year of development under language we are inhibited to develop it. it you didn't learn it then, it's impossible to learn it now.

  • pro

  • Shit

  • Um he's not demonstrating perfert pitch - he's just demostrating how to play music with cups of juice -__-;; that's how perfect pitch is demonstrated.

  • Perfect Pitch is ability to hear and identify a note without any other musical support. Here Leehom is able to recognize each note that results from the depth of liquid in the cups and is able to adjust the pitch to match the correct note that should be played. Granted it's a simple demonstration.

  • that was so cute

  • in case anyone cares, anyone can learn this.

I learned perfect pitch, its hard, and takes along time but its well worth it. You hear things differently, its kewl.

  • How do you learn it? Please tell me!

  • I swear to god I can do that- why does it impress people so?

  • Ok, do it and post a video and we'll be impressed with you :)

  • he is amazing!!

  • Geez. What Chinese dialect do they speak anyways...

    Good besides that dialect thing.

  • The woman is speaking in Cantonese. Leehom is speaking in Mandarin. o_O So it's like... listening to two different languages at once, lol.

  • i dont think hes got perfect pitch... the song is in between c and b major and is nearer to b i think so he's just able to tell tones well, just that he is very in tune

  • Pitches not to A=440? Could be so, but please take into account that the video might be played a little faster or slower which affects the pitch.

  • Awesome!

  • now dat was kl

  • Dude, I'm serious. Lee Hom Wang is not human!! He's too perfect!

  • nice perform

  • awesome

  • awesome!!! i just can say that LEEHOM IS PERFECT FOREVER!!!

  • awesome

  • i can make this with my voice ....welcome to the perfect club!!!!hahahaha
