I remember having to learn this for my Black Belt graduation. It took a lot more training than I ever thought it would to get the synchronization just right.
Work on the coordination of the Hyung and the music. If Grandmaster Rhee or Master Michael Coles were there during your pre-test evaluation, you would have had to wait to test for your Black Belt! Other JRI students know what I mean! This form represents leaving under belt into Black Belt. Those who tested under the Grandmaster Rhee and Master Coles , who was his head instructor, would concur that you would not passed on to your Black Belt test:)
Nice. Looked u almost pulled a 1 legged on your first tornado kick there. My only recommendations are fold your leg in more, before throwing your sidekicks, and bring your leg ALL the way back in after. And bring your hand all the way back before and after your throw your punches. Your punch should thrown from your shoulder not your chest. That's what we call "LAZY". You just need a little fine tuning.
Hey Abdul! This looks amazing. I went by the TT location last summer... sad to see it go. So many good memories there. Great job on this form (as always)! Jessica
This is my favorite form in the whole wide world and then its bethoveen!!! The secret to doing this form is to be dramatic with the music. Sharp moves are not everything with this form if you are not on beat that is why they call it a musical. Make the form sing with the music!
I have a 2nd Dan under Santa Maria from Killeen Texas.
One thing I always valued as a Jhoon Rhee student, was that he did everything with class.
No silly shit, he is ultra aggressive in his teachings, and is no nonsense.
I always appreciated that growing up taking "TKD".
But then when I grew up, entered other fighting systems, you put into perspective things that you learned as a kid "Doing TKD", vs. kickboxing, etc. as an adult.
Great vid. I saw Master Rhee do this form when he was 71.
This is Bill Heimberger's Jhoon Rhee Institute in Tampa Florida. Bill Heimberger was my instructor. The form was invented and put to the music by Grand Master Jhoon Rhee. My name is Louis DeMarco, Head Instructor at the Jhoon Rhee schools in Temple Terrace and Carrolwood Florida for ten years. Before Jhoon Rhee there was no music combined with forms allowed in tournaments.
The form itself with the music is beautiful, however the execution left much to be desired. The sidekicks were downright terrible, you were just doing a gymnastic move and sliding your leg up there, there was no chamber or rechamber, and the pattern itself, had it's points in grace, but also could have used more power as well as more graceful movements. But all the kicks were just ugly, not fluid at all, looked more like you were stretching than kicking.
Grandmaster Choi Kee Young created this form and he performs it a lot slower and smoother but nice performace i love this form and like to do it for shows and stuff =]
im gona be an asshole for a couple minutes... lol..good ol memories, i knew this form since i was an orange belt. while everyone was doing the form to the korean national anthem i was doing exodus cuz i was so dedicated. now to correct him....his guard isnt too good, especially at the front kick-round kick-sidekick, at 1:25 after the front stance nd blocks..yeah
hmmm memories...I got my black belt in Jhoon Rhee tkd in 1998 in the Naples Fl school,I also trained in Master Perez and Master Baez in Miami.Love Exodus but my fav form will always be Granada..
Dude, this takes me back in the day. I used to taske karate back when i was 5 until like 15 and got my 1st degree black belt at age 9. dude this was one of my favorite forms. My instuctor was master coles and mister baxter at the institute in Marlow Heights, Maryland.
hey dude your form isnt bad but you gotta be way more explosive. Who is your teacher by the way? Mine is Grandmaster Perez and Master Perez (his wife) maybe your instructor knows mine.
lol grandmaster perez. In Miami? I was became a black belt the LAST year that jhoon rhee was graduating from there. He said he was not going to graduate anymore black belts from there becuase they were passing people that shouldnt be passed (after master Rhee said that they were not ready). That school is a joke now.
I learned karate at Master Glazier's Karate Center, and the teachers would do this martial ballet (to Exodus), but it wasn't until my son started taking Tae Kwon Do that I learned that this was actually invented by Grandmaster Jhoon Rhee. Weird.
jhoon rhee is one of the best. he started the karate school ive been going to all my life. hes about 75 now but on his 61 birthday he did 1000 push ups a day pretty impressive for a 60yr old
Where was this at and when? Was Grand Master Rhee there? Definitely looks different then what the JRI schools are doing here in the DC area. Good job.
