Because the Oscars are lazy, and they give it to Renee Zellweger, who did nothing in Cold Mountain but talk in a terrible southern accent. The Oscars sometimes have no idea what the hell they are doing. But yeah, Jen did deserve a nominee for HoSaF. That meltdown scene in the car... classic Hollywood acting. Love her to death.
