Second: Wild rabbits are among the worst pests on the planet. They have caused localized extinctions. Third: You're equating a wild animal to a human being. Do I enjoy watching things like this? No. But people like you will cause other people to watch and enjoy it, just to get your goat.
I absolutely hate ermine/stouts. it seems unnatural to me that they kill rabbits. They are so small and it takes them hours to kill rabbits. HOURS. often they will start to eat the rabbits eyes while they are still alive because their teeth are only large enough to send the rabbit into shock, but they cannot sever the spinal chord. often rabbits die of shock or blood loss. it seems like a really cruel way to die. I would have stopped it immediatelly and taken the rabbit to a Vet.
I agree, and they also destroy the bird life, killing one is not enough, as many as they can, cats dont do like that what I have seen. Where I live hemelins are not naturally in our fana, but a group of people let them loose in farms and they survives in the freedom and grow strong and kill what ever they can get.
And as you say, they cant kill fast, it is a horrofying death for their preys.

I agree. Any animal that eats meat can do whatever they please to a rabbit. Even animals way smaller like a stoat can kill them pretty much without the rabbit making any resistance.
Rabbits seemingly only exist to become food to other animals in the wild.

@Tiniuc You might be wrong. More than for a meat, weasels kill for blood, which is easier and faster to consume. They cut the aorta, thats why they attack the neck. Bigger predators try to crush the neck, or to strangle the prey. But ermine are to small for that. I think it was a fast death.
they eat meat, not blood. blood is lost and consumed with meat, but is not the prize of the hunt. a few mouthfuls might be that is taken. sometimes food is stashed. sometimes consumed latter if there is no disturbance.

@jadu1857 There are numerous problems here. First off: The rabbit is at least twice the size of the stoat. The stoat proved itself an able and in fact astonishingly GOOD predator by making this kill. Second: Wild rabbits are among the worst pests on the planet. They have caused localized extinctions. Third: You're equating a wild animal to a human being. Do I enjoy watching things like this? No. But people like you will cause other people to watch and enjoy it, just to get your goat.

I absolutely hate ermine/stouts. it seems unnatural to me that they kill rabbits. They are so small and it takes them hours to kill rabbits. HOURS. often they will start to eat the rabbits eyes while they are still alive because their teeth are only large enough to send the rabbit into shock, but they cannot sever the spinal chord. often rabbits die of shock or blood loss. it seems like a really cruel way to die. I would have stopped it immediatelly and taken the rabbit to a Vet.

I agree, and they also destroy the bird life, killing one is not enough, as many as they can, cats dont do like that what I have seen. Where I live hemelins are not naturally in our fana, but a group of people let them loose in farms and they survives in the freedom and grow strong and kill what ever they can get.
And as you say, they cant kill fast, it is a horrofying death for their preys.
Is it really possible that some people likes this ? Have they no feeling in their body?

@CalderaXII Yes, I do like rabbits. They are nice people, who don't hurt anybody. I hate predators. I had a nice ruffed grouse that was my best friend, and a fucking red-tail hawk killed it. The hawk also killed a rabbit that lived behind my barn. I hate coyotes too. I kill and trap them, whenever I can. If I ever get the hawk, I'm 'gonna break his fucking wings, and wring his neck, until it snaps, then beat the shit out of it with an old axe handle that I have in the barn. Fuckers.

@hammer555551 Maybe you don't understand, but that's the way nature works. Rabbit eats grass, ermine eats rabbit, fox (or whatever) eats ermine, wolf eats fox, and so on. If you take away the predators, the prey don't need to be strong or healthy, and can become a weaker species. You may not like it, but that's how the world works.

Id say that was a half grown Hare the Stoat kiled, Looking at the shape of the body, ears, back legs and fur colour. The squeal its making is the same as a Hare, a rabbit squeal is a lot higher pitched that the sound its making in the video. Good Vid though.

I agree. Any animal that eats meat can do whatever they please to a rabbit. Even animals way smaller like a stoat can kill them pretty much without the rabbit making any resistance.
Rabbits seemingly only exist to become food to other animals in the wild.

@Tiniuc it's probably just muscle reflexes, rabbits usually die from shock in such a situation - ask someone who caught a wild rabbit in his barn, they start breathing really quickly, then faint, sometimes euthanizing themselves.

@Tiniuc You might be wrong. More than for a meat, weasels kill for blood, which is easier and faster to consume. They cut the aorta, thats why they attack the neck. Bigger predators try to crush the neck, or to strangle the prey. But ermine are to small for that. I think it was a fast death.

they eat meat, not blood. blood is lost and consumed with meat, but is not the prize of the hunt. a few mouthfuls might be that is taken. sometimes food is stashed. sometimes consumed latter if there is no disturbance.
