  • he was a Hungarian...his real name is Kubala László which is a Hungarian name and he was born in Budapest just he had to leave Hungary.....that's all...

  • His both parents been part of slovak minority (mom slovak/hungary and dad slovak/polish) at hungary even he was able to speak slovak language and married to slovak woman so even many of you doesn't want to agree he has been half slovak half hungary but because he born and grow up at hungary make him more likely to be hungarian and I agree with it but is funny to discuss about it especially if almost everyone of hungary history is not proper hungarian

  • @okyorik unfortunately thank to Magyarisation we would never be able know real names of many people who made a history of hungary empire

  • he played 3 national team, but he said he's from hungary and slovaki, maybe you are jeaolus to you don1t have famous footballer, and where he was born that was an old hungarian area, but after 1st worldwar.......... you've have been gifted with that.

  • Kubala - Greatest player in Slovak history

  • Might I add that unlike the Hungarian minoity in Slovakia who mostly are in touch with their Hungarian heritage, People in Hungary with Slovak/Slavic ancestors do not.

  • My Slovak Friends - He was Hungarian end of. Just like me, My mothers maiden name and my Grandfathers is Kollar, but we are not Slovak. Only the name. Get over it with this everyone who is born in Hungary must be Slovak because they have a slavic/Slovak name. I have news for all the Slovaks, most Hungarian people with Slovak names do not feel Slovak culturally or via language. We are Hungarian.

  • @274norbi He run from Budapest to Slovakia in 1945.His frend in Barcelona J.Mitosinka always said that he said about himself he was a Slovak.

  • @274norbi He run from Hungary during Benes decrets to Slovakia in 1945.He played for Slovan Bratislava a 7x for national team of Czecho-slovakia.He run from Slovakia in 1948 before comunists back to Hungary,in 1949 from comunists to Spain. His wife was Viola Daucik, slovak women, name of his son is Branko.Viola was a daugter of coach Slovan Bratislava F.Daucik.Daucik run with him to Spain.

  • @Hermann3635

It is logical both of them run into Spain. Viola is a typical Hungarian female name. :)

Because of to being magyars they had to leave fascist Czechslovakia.

  • @VoIdernort :-))Benes decrets were since 1945.And they run from Hungary to Slovakia just in 1945. They lived Slovakia before the communist, just like then Hungary.Viola was daugter of F.Daucik. He was a Hungarian?

  • .........Hungría hubiese ganado el campeonato del mundo del año 1954, si es que Kubala hubiese participado de aquel mundial....y en aquella época, ya era figura....KUKALA - PUSKAS....QUE DUPLA....se salvaron los alemanes....

  • No. His father was Slovakian and his mother was Hungarian. He was born in Budapest, Hungary. Having ONE of the parents Hungarian and BORN in Hungary make him a Hungarian. st . He spent the first 19 years of his life in Hungary. Only left to avoid military service. Returned 2 years later to Hungary. How does all this make him Slovak ?

  • So it is fair to say: 50 % Hungarian, 50% Slovakian.. :-)

  • No, 70 % Hungarian, 20 % katalan, 10 % slovakian

  • Amint angolul mar emlitettem, Kubala magyar volt. Apja Slovak, anyja magyar volt. Budapesten szuletett es az elso 19-evet magyarorszagon toltotte. Katonai szolgalat alol meglepett es ket evig Czechoslovakia-ban volt. Ket ev mulva hogy kikerulje a Cseszlovak katonai szolgalatot, visszatert magyarorszagra. Hogy lett ebbol Szlovak ? Nem ertem..Egyik szulo magyar, magyarorszagon elt elso 21 evet.. utana Spanyol, etc...

  • Es muy importante recordarse de los grandes jugadores, y mucho mas importante cuando han creado la historia del futbol con loro juego y loro corazon. Kubala no te olvidamos.
