  • A TRUE GENTLEMAN....COURTNEY WALSH......A RARE SPECIES NOWADAYS....

  • absolute thrill no wonder still world remembered old legends

  • they were real heros not today who sell their country jst for money

  • it was his last match against westindies.......!

  • the man looked like zardari at the end of video

  • I still remember this match and I was just 6 at that time, but did not knew that it was it was a world cup match.

  • Unintelligent bowling by Walsh, he kept pitching at the same spot! He should have bowled wide yorkers which would've made it difficult for Abdul Qadir to hit the ball because he was moving backward on every ball!

But I am happy that Pakistan won, because I am a Pakistani!

  • If Walsh ran out Salim Jaffer, West Indies would have gone to the Semis instead of England, and beaten India, and probably beaten Australia in the finals.

So Walsh's gesture cost the West Indies a semis berth for sure, and probably much more.

  • yeah i remember it was his last game and he had tears in his eyes. that was great win and courtney walsh showed incredible sportsman spirit

  • I know - Richards, during the award ceremony, was still standing in the field, seething in anger.

Remember that Richards was part of two WC wins and one runner's up. It had NEVER even occured to him (or anyone else) that he might not qualify for the semis.

  • Why are there only men in this group, is this a male-ist formation ?

  • yeah !!

  • You hypocrite SOB if this is a dumb sport than what the fuck were you doing in here. Im amaze at peoples stupidity.

  • you are talking about cross country?

Yes, I certainly agree with you...

  • shitty sport. skid marks

  • Walsh lost them the match by not fielding the ball properly and giving Qadir the strike.

  • well this video does nt shows the great sports man ship walsh displayed

  • trust me i watched that match great sportsmanship by walsh, a true example for today's cricketers

  • The Diamond of Pakistan cricket.

  • bigger the better :) (meetyourfling) c o m

    bonny

  • Qadir... DA MAN... symble of temprament, toughness, clever, .... unbelivable to play Walsh in such kind of conditions,, wonderful asset for PAK.

  • Sure does bring back memories. Still remember watching the match in the stadium. The six by qadir landed in front of us :)

Thx a lot for the upload!

  • this is mindblowing bro

  • Abdul Qadir was a good showman and a very good spinner. Perhaps not as great as Shane Warne or Kumble, but both built on Qadir's legacy.

As for his son, being the best at the U-16 or U-19 competitions is nice but really doesn't mean anything. Any selector will tell you that the level of cricket in the junior competitions is substantially lower than first class cricket.

Pakistan needs a new star badly as the interest in cricket has been steadily declining for some time now.

  • Awesome - what a legend Qadir was. Heard his son, usman is also a fine spinner & came 2nd in the recent under 16 competition.

Btw, this finish was better than the Javed Miandad last ball siz

  • Abdul qadir rocks. I can see some spirit in this pakistani team which is missing nowadays...

  • This is from 87 world cup. What is missing in this video is that Courtney Walsh had a chance in the last ball to run out Salim Jaffer (and win the match) in the non striker's end. Instead Walsh issued a warning to Jaffer.

  • yes... me came to this link only to see Walsh last ball warning stuff... but itz missing...

  • @kalyaniyer yeh that was a great sportsmanship by him.

  • @kalyaniyer That is what made Walsh known in most respectable cricketers of the world while and on the other hand that type of outs made Kapil Dev known in most cheap natured players in cricket history :P

  • Hi this is sheraz1977...

    Why have i been banned

Atleast contact me once.....Atleast tell me the reason of my ban....PLEASE ...this is a request.....Everybody should be given a chance to explain himself

The ban on me is without any reason and is totally unfair

I appeal to the mods at pak passion to review the decision

  • wow, i still remember watching this match, qadir, what a legend, revival of leg spin, dickie bird,

9former best umpire), used to call him 'wizard', he used to say that he hasnt seen anyone like him stabding behind the stumps

  • Walsh warned Salim Jaffer, Pakistani fast bowler and now selector. Walsh won a lot of praise for his sportsmanship

  • i beleive walsh was quite fresh that time and qadir was quite experienced.

  • so what? what will u say if Kumble win against Mohd Asif or shane warne win against Ishant sharma.

  • What are you talking about? Walsh warned Jafer as he was trying to leave his crease and run before the ball was bowled (in those days you could be run out for leaving your crease as a batsman). If Walsh wanted, he could have run out Jaffer and won the match. That won him a lot of praise for demonstrating sportsmanship. What does that have to do with Kumble , Mohd. Asif Ishant etc??

  • How can not the non-striker stray out of his crease, if he does and keeps moving towards the striker, then he draws a definite advantage in completing the run, that is why that rule is there and Kail was completely justifiied in knocking the bails off.

  • Yes,great sportsmanship from Walsh. No one will do it know a days.

  • 87 world cup in Lahore! Qadir chaa gaya!

  • one thing is missing courtney walsh giving warning to the pakistani keeper as he started to run even before the ball was bowled.

  • so atleast he is better than your kapil dev in sportsmanship. do u remember!!!! what he did with P. Kirstern of SA?

  • Kapil, before he toook the bails off Kirsten's wicket had warned him at least twice, when Kirsten did not heed, he did waht the rule books allow him to do, he ran him out, what is wrong in it, the rule books allow that run-out. You could have blamed Kapil for not being sportsmanlike if he had not warned Kirsten but he had and that too more than once, so where is he wrong?

  • Nothing is wrong. If it is within the rules, nothing is 'unsportsmanlike' about it.

Walsh should have ran out Jaffer, in which case WI would have gone to the semis (and probably further).

  • gaddafi stadium 1987 world cup group stage.i was there

  • can u please upload abdul qadir and sachin tendulkar incident where sachin hit him 4 sixes in one over after qadir challenged him.............

  • awesome!

  • the world cup was in 87. What boggles my mind is how the six he hit went over long off, when his entire body and head positioning was towards deep midwicket. Absolutely astonishing.

  • There was never a world cup in 86.

  • when it happened

  • 1986 worldcup in lahore. First match between Pakistan and Westindies
