  • I'm a meat eater who is wondering why meat eaters must be so obnoxious. As if it's our birthright to eat animals.

  • "outside the realm of my expertise..."

    This lady is whack!

  • More idiot celebrities...

  • It's obvious that CNN has no interest in considering the idea that a plant based diet is better than one with animal products. Instead Larry keeps probing for support that meat is ok if it's "prepared correctly".

  • Anthony Bourdain is an idiot.

  • Here they are advertising to increase meat sales.........Nation Representatives of America seems to be smarter while eating meat... Totally insane.

  • @Daideepya Thank you and *insane* is an understatement.

Eating FLESH from any living being is not natural. I truly believe that cancer, heart disease, diabetes and even obesity (to name a few) are the | Animals Ultimate Revenge from their Graves

We should not be eating anything with a FACE or a MOTHER.... a plant based whole foods diet is most natural and healthy ---- but don`t let corporate America know this - you might get arrested!

  • "Meat taste good" says the Chef. One of the most silly arguments in history. I never tried but i bet Cocaine might be fun or give you a great ride...now is Cocaine healthy? i don't think so.

  • cancer, alzhiemers, heart disease, auto immune disorders, diabetes... all linked to meat and dairy. we are the only species that cooks it's meat, that's because we would get sick from it if we didn't. like herbavoires we don't possess the enzymes or the acidity to digest meat. we are the only species to drink the milk of another species after we've been weened from our mothers...vegan diets taste better.. i became vegan in 2009 and it's gonna be till i die. best thing i ever did.

  • @thatbitchonskates I couldn't agree more on all points..... especially tastes better.

I just wish I was raised as a vegan. Most people won't change their diet as their ailments and various illnesses take years to manifest. The amazing part is, stop eating animals, processed food and maintain a vegan diet, 99% of the diseases are 100% reversible. Three great reasons to go vegan 1) Animal Rights & Welfare 2) Our Environment 3) Our Health - It's a win-win.....

  • @thatbitchonskates Cool comments! I would like to see all these manly meat eaters actually run down an animal and devour it whole, without tools, including fire. Or milk - I would like to see them out there suckiing the milk straight from its source, just like I can pick an apple straight from the source. Eating rotting flesh is unhealthy and destroys the environment. It is just not natural! And the kicker?? All this bickering over what we know to be a better tasting diet! Cheers and peace!

  • When the meat institute guy described the beauty of factory farming as "low cost, high volume pig and cow processing plants" which provide americans with an abundance of LOW COST meat... he sounded proud of this fact. the truth is factory farms should be ashamed of how cheap they price their tortured/killed animals. all thru overcrowding, painkiller free mutilations or not spending even a penny more to slaughter in less stressful ways... that man is evil. this industry is goin down.

  • @thatbitchonskates Sadly "low cost" seems to be the driving force. Most people have no idea to keep prices low, the government subsidizes these corporations to the tune of Billions of dollars per year (meat & dairy). I've heard without subsidizies, beef would be around 33.00 per pound. Either way, the public is paying for it, this is just indirectly. Animals and processing are two words that don't belong together. The very thought of what any farmed animal endures is beyond belief.

  • @UMakeTheConnection Since I've been vegan for years I don't read store flyers and purchase simple whole foods, and I'm not concerned about price because it always works out far cheaper than people that buy meat, dairy, cheese, processed/prepared foods. I did happen to catch a front page in store flyer last week with T-bone steak on sale for 4.99 / lb. regular 11.29 / lb. I was shocked - I had no idea just how much people are paying for dead flesh. Veggies far cheaper and healthier !!

  • @UMakeTheConnection wow, $4.99/ $11.29 a lb, that's way more than i expected. you're absolutely right about the subsidies - going to huge agbiz - much of it to pesticide laden grains 70% of which go to feed factory farmed animals. Yes the words "animals" and "processing" should never go together. I believe that many humans are on the verge of letting go of their reliance on animal products - i have devoted myself to seeing that this happens!

  • @thatbitchonskates Many people are getting the health message and avoiding animals and their by-products, but what is truly needed is honesty in the reporting media. Too much misinformation and if others hear the truth, the science, rather than the repeated cover-ups we might see a swing toward helping ourselves and the world around us. For most people, old habits are hard to break, especially if you were raised that way. Good for you and all you are doing to help!

  • Thesis, antithesis, synethesis. Thats all this programe is about.

  • @imtheuser12345

i know it's not a complete science and the fact that 2 people can thrive on opposite diets further backs up the concept of metabolic typing.

  • @imtheuser12345

there lots of people who in the low carb community who also went there after a vegan diet didn't work for them. its also not so suprising if you look at the science.

  • @imtheuser12345

pizza, meat sauce and bacon is just processed junk anyway, not real meat. its great that you have found a diet that works for you but i have seen many people who couldnt thrive on it.

  • @imtheuser12345

so you dont eat cookies, cips, cake, candy etc.

my point is. can you say thats its the lack of animal foods that is giving you good health or is it the lack of processed foods ?

what type of animal products were you eating before ?

  • @MrBabo91

You can make cookies, cake, candy, etc with eggs you know.

  • @imtheuser12345

but are you healthy becuase you have cut out refined carbohydrates or because you cut out animal products ? you don't know.

  • @imtheuser12345 So true - ALL animal protein (meat/flesh) is a problem in the human diet. If we were in fact meant to consume meat we would be able to run after it, catch it, and dismantle it with our hands and teeth and consume it. I somehow doubt this is remotely possible, yet, here we (no me) are eating animal products at least three times per day and it's in every processed food/box. People wake up, it's killing us, it's the root of all diseases known to man. Say no to eating animals !

  • why do people still think one diet fits all ?

I eat meat up to 3 times a day with lots and lots of vegetables. I am healthy as can be. I know healthy vegetarians who eat loads of nuts, fruits, seeds and vegetables. In my opinion most people will severely struggle with a vegetarian or vegan diet.

  • @MrBabo91 Well, a 19 year old would have no clue about the "long term" effects of a meat / dairy based diet.

I'll tell you what, keep eating your flesh, doesn't matter what type - flesh is flesh and it's dead, but keep eating it, drink lots of milk, and call me in 20 years.

Maybe then you will understand that this is accumulative.

I guess it's true, that ignorance is bliss !!!

  • @UMakeTheConnection

You need to understand biochemical individuality and stop preaching your "one diet fits all" solution.

"One mans food is another mans poison"

Read the metabolic typing diet and biochemical individuality and then you can try to talk to me about nutrition.

  • how much meat does the typical american diet provide? how protein and cholesterol does that provide? any studies on that? most americans eat too much fat and meat and processed food. i eat meat daily but only for lunch. i eat loads of fruits and vegs and take soy and low fat milk to make sure i get enough protein.

  • any studies to quantify how much protein and cholesterol americans take per day? if people would abstain from meat 3 days per week and take soy instead, the would be much healthier.

  • i knew the rebuttal to the cheap food argument before i started looking into veganism: cheap food leads to more health costs. how many people on a fast food, junk food, processed food diet, etc.... spend money on Pepto, Alka Seltzer, and much stronger medicines? lose money by missing work? if you want more money at the end of the month and year, spend a little more on food. it is an investment with a 100% rate of return

  • @eatpigsnot It's definitely "by design" - we are only good to them sick, not healthy or dead.

The best health insurance money can buy is clean (organic preferably), whole grains and plant based foods.

  • umaketheconnection - it is BAD not BAY

  • The question is, do we have it in us to kill an animal? or do we have the strength to kill a cow? Don't ask other people, ASK YOURSELF! -- Also, did you know that pesticides are made from PETROLEUM(AKA gasoline)?? Eat organic!

  • To me it is Dr Cambell,s insult to bring him for discussion among such a low profile people.

  • 1 in 2 males and 1 in 3 female will develop some kind of cancer in his/her life time here in U.S. Dr. Campbell's book has been the #1 bestselling book on "diet and disease" categories on Amazon.com for a reason. The point of views on CNN news media are well known for being conservative, not objective.

  • My great-grandfather was the only vegan in the family, and he lived the longest most healthiest life out of everyone.....he was fit, lean and alert. He died when he was 97 years old!

  • Saying that this is a problem of modern farming is just stupid. Can be poison healthy and non-healthy? Or maybe organic poison? Who care if you finally die? My grandparent had their own family farm for their own needs as all other people 30-50 years ago so cows ate grass in fields and all hens ate walking naturally in the garden. All their neighbors did the same way. They lived far away from towns near the forest. Cancer and all western diseases were common and not surprise.

  • And the problem here is not meat or saturated fat, but the way they've been bred and mishandled. You can have perfectly healthy lettuce, but if they're mishandled, you can get food poisoning. It's the same with fish and eggs. Are we going to stop eating mayo (which uses raw eggs) and sushi? Meat in and of itself is not bad, but factory farmed meat is bad. The healthiest meat would be grass fed meat from animals allowed to roam on pastures. Similar to what our ancestors ate for 2.5million years.

  • @Eyecandy4u I agree that meat was much less toxic in earlier times, however, animal protein, is truly the cause and promotion of all degenerative diseases known to man. I encourage you to look past what is being promoted. Of course factory farming is wrong and unhealthy... no one should be eating sick animals, but from my research, we should not be eating animals at all.

    /watch?v=3P3kIJk-Ga4

The China Study backs up this statement 100%.

  • @UMakeTheConnection Please go to the wilderness and try to survive without meat or fat for a year and see how long you'll live. Man vs Wild is a good example of how difficult it is to survive on plants alone. Are you going to tell hunter gather societies not to eat meat that they hunt because from your "research" that humans shouldn't be eating meat at all? Google & find the actual study "China Monograph" GO study it and develop some critical thinking!

  • You people need to do your research before committing yourselves to diets proposed by Campbell. His China Study has been disproven. He lied about the results. Go check the facts for yourselves by googling the original study. The results showed the opposite of what he says. I don't like Nancy either but what she said about the studies is true. And no I'm not working for the meat / dairy / egg industry. I don't even drink milk. All I'm saying is, check your facts first for your health's sake.

  • the chef is a moron. he doesn't know anything about science. and the woman is a liar who is being paid off.

  • The fact you have to spend "hundreds of millions of dollars" to make something safe to eat means that it is emphatically unsafe to eat in the first place.

  • Dr. Rodriguez is nothing compare to Dr. Campbell...He knows way more than she does with all his research experience

  • And you are going to take the advice of a chef over A DOCTOR/Scientist! Righto!

  • Dr Campbell! You are "CASTING PEARL BEFORE SWINE." They who by the Natural Laws that we are all subject to. Must! eventually pay the price for the slaughter and consumption of Meat and All food and drink detrimental to Health. SIMPLE!--WANT HEART DISEASE, CANCER, DIABETES, STROKE. -- EAT THE STANDARD AMERICAN DIET- S.A.D. TERRORISTS HAVE GOT IT WRONG--THEY NEED ONLY TO TAKE OVER THE MEAT INDUSTRY and GIVE AWAY FREE BURGERS. Essene

  • Dr. T.Colin Campbell is the only actual scientist... And has over 40 years of research.. Tell Nancy to shut up, she has just read things from other people.. Campbell actually researched it... I'm totally team Campbell

  • HERE IS THE PROOF SHE IS BEING PAYED BY THE MEAT INDUSTRY!:

Dr. Rodriguez has an active research program that has been extramurally funded by agencies including USDA, NIH, the American Heart Association, the National Dairy Council, the National Cattlemens Beef Association, and the Egg Nutrition Center

  • @1fiyero GOOD WORK! I should have known.

I see it says just that on the University of Connecticut web page. Isn't it amazing what money can buy? ;o)

  • @1fiyero

good work man ! classic example of scientific bias

  • @1fiyero She's a cunt!

  • Nancy Rodriguez is a stupid biatch! She doen't have the facts about anything, and is probably being payed by the meat industry. Plant-based diets provided everything we need to live a happy healthy life. You look back at Adam and Eve, and God wasn't like here is a little lamb and then Adam killed it no! THEY USED THE GARDEN TO EAT!! Plant- Based diets can reverse type two diabetes, and heart disease. Annnd prevent cancer! MEAT can't do that!

  • Throughout school, vegetarians and vegans were a population they really wanted us to pay attention to. Point being, you seem very knowledgeable on the topic but sadly not many are. It is a problem when individuals begin depriving their child from obtaining nutrients from an animal source and then not substituting it. This episode of larry king started off with e.coli and then changed into eliminating meat completely. Maybe they should talk about cows being fed corn which causes the e.coli

  • I think more research should be conducted and possibly in other demographics. You also don't see a prevalence of osteoporosis either in asian women even though their diets lack milk. (i.e. they have low calcium and Vit D intakes). Yes I know that you can get calcium from plant sources but seriously to meet recommendations ... thats A LOT of spinach which I'm sure they are not consuming. Again... MORE research needs to be done. I'm sure MANY vegans consume recommended intakes but alot don't.

  • @KatinaT143 There are loads of studies supporting veganism, they are just a well kept secret thanks to the industries that have the most to lose. It's amazing what billions of dollars can do. You may be interested to know that high consumption of protein, particularly animal protein causes an acidic reaction in our blood. Calcium neutralizes this acid to create the ideal alkalizing effect. Dairy has both calcium and animal protein. The more you drink, the more you lose.

  • Consuming leafy greens and almonds, to name a few are far better calcium choices. Protein is very much required but in far less quantities and there a many plant based sources. Do not be fooled by the food guides and "recommendations" as those are put in place by the very people selling them. When you dig deep, it is truly an eye opening and jaw dropping learning adventure. Question everything, I do now and thankful for it.

  • Don't be fooled by recommendations given by the USDA? United States Department of Agriculture? Apparently our government is out to get Vegans too eh? I'm done with this topic. I went to school for a very long time and none of my professors would agree with you. Again, if you don't want to eat meat that is your deal but do not provide false information to people because you are closed minded and only one sided

  • Sure, where are you getting all this information? I would love to see your credentials. Firstly, Our body makes acids three ways. You are correct about amino acids, they are particularly Met and Cys (sulfur Amino Acids found in meat) but our body also produces acids through incomplete oxidation of glucose and fats. Also too much exercise! BUT, our body is amazing in the fact that is prevents acidosis by buffers, our respiratory system and our kidneys so we can be happy and be at equilibrium.

  • @Katina I am referring to Blood PH Levels. The human body works at it's optimum at approx. a 7.3 PH level (Scale 0-14). When the body is in an acidic state - from the food we eat, it uses stores of calcium to offset the imbalance. Google PH levels and charts. A lot of what ails people is directly connected to this PH level. You mentioned earlier that Asians lack dairy, they also don't eat the quantity of animal proteins, but do enjoy calcium rich greens. It's not quantity its quality.

  • I'm completely aware of this.Ever heard of bicarbonate? Guess what that does? Ever heard of alkalosis? Yeah guess what... acid is not bad! Guess what? Our body regulates our pH levels when it doesn't . You obviously don't have a background in human anatomy. I'm done with this. Go Hyperventilate you'll raise your pH levels! OH NO. I'm not interested in giving an Acid/Base class.

  • Oh I made a mistake

    Hyperventilation--> decrease CO2

    Hypoventilation-->increases CO2

    pH too low--> you hypoventilate

pH too high--> you hyperventilate (produce acid to lower pH)

  • @KatinaT143 Don't take this personally. I am only sharing information.... I have nothing to gain here. Wow, chill out.

  • @KatinaT143 I realize bicarbonate is "the" most alkalizing of all, (aluminum free of course). Acid is okay when the mix is 80% alk 20% acid. Yes our body does regulate - that is my point right there ! The way it regulates is by destroying our bones - our bones that store calcium. If we don't eat enough alkalizing foods, the body will use calcium to restore balance. The body is truly amazing, however the Western diet is stressing it beyond repair.

  • If someone is a vegetarian or a vegan, that is their personal decision and Im not against that, but based on our genetic makeup and the essential (meaning what we need to consume in out diets) nutrients that our bodies REQUIRE, plant based diets don't cut it. I'm sure Dr. Campbell knows this since he is a researcher and he takes plenty of multivitamins but I'm sure about 50% of vegetarians and vegans don't and do not consume the daily recommendations.

  • Vitamin B12 is found in foods that come from animal sources. It plays a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. Deficiencies can include neurological damage and anemia. So if you are a vegan especially, I hope you are taking multivitamins because in no way AT ALL you are consuming B12 through your diet.

  • Before making a decision of becoming a vegetarian or vegan please look at what essential nutrients you may be more prone on being deficient in. Point being- we are omnivores, we eat both plants and meats for a reason. This discussion should be more about how to get laws passed for preventing contamination and how to cook your foods properly and wash your hands, etc!!

I've worked with Doctor Rodriguez during my undergrad, she is an amazing researcher and person.~~~~From a Registered Dietitian

  • @KatinaT143 I have been a vegan for many years and have done much research on the health implications of an animal based diet. Sorry, I am not a fan of Dr. Rodriquez, in fact, I found her to be an embarrassment on this clip. Heart disease wasn't even listed in the medical journals until the 1930's and what changed was human kinds consumption of animal based products.

  • These diseases are increasing yearly without cures. The cure does exist, stop eating animals. I suggest you investigate all the nutrients readily available in all plant life. It is surprisingly remarkable & in fact that is where theses "food animals" receive their same nutrients. I am cutting out the middle man & getting mine straight from the source without the horrors of slaughter, disease, saturated fat, cholesterol, antibiotics, growth hormones, pesticides, herbicides, mad cow, & so forth.

  • @KatinaT143 You really need to do your homework. B12 is certainly one vitamin that a vegan should take, no disagreement there, other than that, vegans receive all the calcium and protein and other minerals necessary for a healthy life. Consuming "animal protein" is far more detrimental to health - in particular dairy "casein" which has been proven to promote cancer cell growth. You should read "The China Study", the longest study ever conducted in history on human health and diet.

  • can't stand this Nancy Rodriguez.

  • This whole segment is silly - there's like 7 guests talking, or something (I don't know, I don't have the will to watch all of this), and random people are calling, one is a distinguished scientist, another is just some guy from a cooking show that get's to give a counterpoint against him, television is silly. No more meat, no more television. No more refined sugar, no more refined carbohydrates and heated fats. We will all have more bowl movements that way and be happier.

  • E. coli 0157:H7 is elimanted at 160 degrees fairenheight. If the consumers would actually cook ground beef to that internal temperature we would never have this debate.

Also, cross contamination with meat is a huge problem for spreading E. coli. Wash your hands, wash the utensils, plates etc that is used while preparing meals. Never put a cooked product back on a plate were raw product has been.

Dr. Cambell, nothing more than a biased professor pushing his own agenda. No sceince.

  • Anyone reading this can see you have "agribusiness" interests. Take a hike buddy, you have nothing more at stake than profit at any cost. I know your kind. This is not only about food safety it's about health. Meat causes many illnesses, fact ! There is science out there, but the fat agri-business execs and lobbyists ensure this is kept quiet. Isn't that YOUR JOB ! Money talks and there's not subsidies in fresh fruit and veg. like there is in meat and dairy.

  • Of course I have 'agribusiness" interests. It seems to me you want to destroy animal agriculture, therefore that is your interest.

Peanut butter, huge illness problem and it did not come from E. coli as the "experts" stated, it was actually Salmonella that did not originate anywhere from the livestock industry.

You state, you know my kind. That seems rather ignorant of you, and shows your true inteligence.

    Have a nice day,

    Fast Farmer

  • Animal farming = number one cause of climate change. There's simply too much animal abuse, poisoning and pollution involved in factory farming, and there's not enough space to feel the world with affordable organic farming. There's no need to eat meat; it's in FACT healthier not to do so, and one can sleep at night knowing they did not pay for the horrid animal abuse that goes on.

  • Not to mention that it's gross to eat putrefying flesh.

  • No food should be cooked above 105, except mushrooms, but I agree, if you're going to mess with industrially farmed meat, you've got to char that stuff, otherwise you'll be full of parasites and other nasty stuff. You'll still get the heavy metals, pesticides, antibiotics, and hormones, though - if you insist on eating meat, go shoot some deer or buy some grass fed bison, but industrial meat has to go. Campbell is actually a pretty cautious and humble scientist, I think.

  • I used to eat meat three times a day. Since turning veggie I havent looked back. I feel healthier. And my meals are far tastier. People just need to give it a try and find out for themselves. Dr Campbell is awesome!

  • This is so true. I am always amazed how meat eaters criticize vegans/vegetarians as if they know. How would anyone know the improvements they feel unless you've tried it.

Dr. Campbell is a true hero for standing up and helping others see through the media and corporate lies.

  • @Mastershaitan Curious minds need to know....how is the veggie lifestyle going ----

I`m guessing better than ever !!!

  • That guy Anthony is a TOOL he's being presented with a scientist that is talking about YEARS of research and all he has to say is MEAT TASTES GOOD????

OMG Somebody please slap some sense into him!

  • Thanks porolita22... I just knew it was worth presenting this interview in it's entirety, because, the ones with brains will see through this nonsense.... Anthony is a real tool and I agree with you 100%. He did mention that perhaps we should consider eating more like the Chinese, less meat. Dr. Campbell nailed it ! He is a true warrior on this subject.

  • Is there a part 4 on this? :-0

  • No that's it...

  • yes, that's why every meat eater eats meat... it tastes good... but with everything else that it comes with... it's not even partially worth it.

  • I ate meat and yes I said at one point it tastes good, but most people pour seasoning and salt and sauces on it. It's been years, but if I smell someone cooking raw meat now, I want to gag.... I can't stomach it. No raw meat in my house... meat free for years and I love it. I have problem going to others homes where I see meat preparation. I usually bring my own food now.

  • Dr. Nancy, I feel sorry for you... and for your family.

  • These "authority" figures have never had to endure the suffering of a lost one. I don't wish harm on anyone, but sometimes these individuals need to understand what they are promoting to others. Perhaps if they walked in someone elses shoes, instead of spewing nonsense to the masses about how safe it is.

  • Yes absolutely. People are so blind. I will never feed my children meat EVER!! This health risks are just more reasons for me not to. And when you add up to all the other atrocities, to animals, humans and the environment, it's just the logical thing to do. It's so simple and easy, I don't get how people can just dismiss it. Ugh!

  • I know I'm replying to a comment you made three months ago but I was just informed that my professor was on larry king and I had to see it myself. I think before you start feeling sorry for anyone you should look at yourself and possibly consider taking some courses on biochemistry and learning about essential amino acids and vitamins (especially B12).

  • Sweetie, I've been vegan for more than 2 years now. Of course I've researched essential amino and fatty acids, nothing to worry. My husband and I take care of ourselves.

I feel sorry for her never the less because she is prejudiced. And in denial. I have no interest in discussing this, it was a long time ago. Cheers.
