Their theme sounds like the theme from WTAE Ch. 4 Action News from 1999-2003!
Their other song sounds like the NBC/ABC College FB theme song from our area when it was first heard during, I think, the 2001 Rose Bowl Between Washington St. and Purdue (who had future NFL star and 2010 Super Bowl champion Drew Brees)

@sportsguruisme It's called Image News. It was used by a variety of stations (including WUAB/WOIO in Cleveland before going with Enforcer). It's been deemed as very popular because of how upbeat and "newslike" it is.
WOWK and WCHS switched networks for the first time in 1958, then again in 1986. WOWK was originally a CBS station as it is now and WCHS was a ABC station as it is now.
@Buckpenn - WOWK (then WHTN) was an ABC station from 1955 to 1958 when it switched with WCHS to be the CBS affiliate. In 1962, WOWK became an ABC station again. Then in 1984 WOWK became a CBS affiliate and WCHS be an ABC affiliate.
Yeah. WUAB in Cleveland (and I think WOIO in Cleveland, as well) was using the same music around the same time, and Raycom (I think that's the name, Ray-SOMETHING) owns both those stations (or did at the time).
These graphics are by Gecko Productions in Virginia Beach, they used to have a website, I don't even know if they're around anymore. I think they did WVEC's 1998-2001 graphics package.
What a ripoff of Hearst-Argyle's graphics package from that era...
It's so weird to see an anchor and co-anchor in different cities. They should have just built the studio half way between Charleston and Huntington...
I know. WOWK is now owned by WV Media. WOWK doesn't do the two anchor thing anymore. WSAZ TV 3 in the market does. WCHS/WVAH don't... I think it was kinda neat having an anchor in each city. Charleston/Huntington covers a wide area for TV. I have WSAZ opening I will be putting up soon.
That cut of Image in the tease was off the chain good!

In the KY part of the market, evreybody watches WSAZ. Probably because they're the only station that actually covers Kentucky.
I personally watch whatever station Tom McGee's on. I even watched WHCP's sorry attempt at a newscast.

Does anyone know when WOWK and WCHS switch networks? I remember WOWK (originally WHTN)was previously the ABC station there, and WCHS was CBS.

I've heard a rumor he is in law school at WVU, but it's just a rumor.

He's just a little drunk. ;-)

yeah WSAZ kicks WOWK's butt here in the Charleston-Huntington Market. WSAZ is simply better.

They were really trying make a drive at WSAZ. Didn't work too well, now did it.

Just because a T.V. station(as in WOWK)had that music doesn't mean that WOWK had to be an H-A station. And by the way, that music ROCKS!

Apparently KYW-TV in Philadelphia is using that music too. It is one of the CBS O&O stations from the Westinghouse family.

@Buckpenn KYW-TV in Philadelphia doesn't use Image News by Gari Communications.

WTAJ-TV 10 in Altoona used the "Live, Local, Late-Breaking" slogan as well.

I have the WHCP WB 30 news and anchor talent. I also have WSAZ from same time period as the WOWK clip.

It didn't have to be like what H-A had. H-A's graphics were good and they were better than what they have now.
