I've played Panzer Dragoon Saga (i'm one of the lucky bastards who has one :D) and FF7. You can´t compare them since they are completely diferent. I consider FF7 to be way more challeging to complete at 100%. But PDS was incredible at the time, they already used actor voice for the game, while FF only started that with FFXI? Anyway, they are both great RPG´s and if you can, play them both, you won't regret...at all.
I wish I could find this game for a decent price! I could NEVER find it in stores back in the day (they were ALWAYS sold out). I bought a SS again a few years back and really want to experience this game, but I can't justify spending $100+ for a copy!
Sega could be the most successful game company today if they would rerelease games from the Saturn and Sega CD library. Would love to play this game, along with Shining Force 3, Fighters Megamix and Bug! and countless others.

Forgot to tell the uploader nice vid... so, nice vid! hehe. A friend just gave me PDS so I'll be playing it once I head out to mom's house next weekend and grab my Saturn. I have a ton of games I bought (dating back to the SNES) that I never had the chance to open or play and this is one of them. Since I am a collector of videogames it shall remain that way too hehe.
All game consoles have their merits, folks. And there's no need to bash someone because they prefer one game to another, either.
I missed out on most of the SS games. I was a PS fan (NES/SNES before that) and I missed out on a TON of fantastic game Sega games. I just didn't have the time to SS and PS. I had a SS, just wasn't used much unfortunately..
I didn't make that mistake with the DC tho! Ahh...the DC and PS2 days were great, weren't they? In fact, Imma go play some CrazyTaxi right now!

this game works great with the 360 controlled, its a shame to those without money that its only easy to emulate from your disk drive with the real copy.
when I was a Kid I had the demo, which was the first disk and it would bug me like hell that I couldn't play the rest. about 12 later I finally got the money and the ball's to spend that kind of money on a game. the thing is this game had such an impact on me, just the first disk alone.
If I could rewind history and own all the disks as a kid I would say no because this game ran rampant in my imagination, plus the pure satisfaction of playing it even now.
i think sega should do what castlevania the dracula X chronicals did which was remake this game and have both the original panzer dragoon saga and panzer dragoon zwei as unlockable games.
I love this game, I'm glad that I still have a working Sega Saturn and a still perfectly condtioned copy of the game. I really wish that somehow the developers would be able to find the lost source code so maybe we could atleast get a remake for Xbox live and PSN
i didn't know anything about consoles when i bought my saturn. i just knew most people went with playstation so i went the other way. i got the system in '98, pretty much just before it was discontinued, and i felt kind of ripped off. i got this game online for about 30 bucks... totally redeemed the entire system for me. turned what might have been a forgettable system into a priceless one.
I got this game for christmas. FUCK YEAH! Was up until 2am trying to beat the game, spent around 3 hours (Just beat the Craymen Airships and that one girl's oversized dragon before I went to bed).. However, I only completed disk 1. I still have 3 more to go. One of the best games i've ever played.
Actually, parts 1, 2 and 4 are shooters; this video is from part 3 (the only rpg in the series). There are only four games in the series (the last, "Orta", was on Xbox).
This console was far superior to the PS1. Just imagine how incredible Final Fantasy VII would have looked on this system! The cut-scenes would have been more mind blowing than they already were. And with the ability to add up to a 4 MB RAM cartridge you could really pump out graphics that were only available in arcades back in the day. Just check out X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter and see what the added RAM could do.
You are absolutely right. Graphically the Dreamcast could handle games as visually stunning as Resident Evil 4, but the games were too difficult to write. They had an incredible system that could render 3 million polygons per second. This rivals the current next-gen systems we have. 16.7 million colors and 32 bit sound that could simultaneously articulate 64 sounds. This rivals current systems. The graphic effects were mind blowing. Shame it couldn't last.
Even being a die-hard fan of the Saturn, the truth is the system was better than the Playstation on 2d graphics, not 3d. On 3d, Playstation was far better (if you play Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy 8 you'll see this). But since I'm really into 2d games, Saturn will always be my favourite console! =]
Are you planning on selling them in the near future? Not that I am buying, but I have come across several copies of this game myself. Doesn't seem to be ultra rare or anything. The sealed ones maybe. But not the others.

actually 30.000 sounds quite a lot, but if that was all world wide and you consider how many get damaged split up etc ? I wonder how many complete Saga`s there are left?
I recently bought Saga complete too , outer box 2 main cases manual and of course the 4 discs that were in mint condition btw ,I paid £65 plus about £3 P+P ,a very good deal IMO, Im happy !
MUCH better. I am playing FF7 right now and can't understand why people think this game had good graphics. Saga is better in every single area (not only graphics, but story and gameplay too).
@CervantesXV It's a matter of aesthetics, obviously, but if you like a lot of muddy textures, then Saga is your game. FF7 was generally stunning in every respect, even if it used a lot of prerendered elements in its visual presentation. With that said, I never thought Saga was a PRETTY game, but it was both very awesome and very much ahead of its time.
@randomartist01 I think I just don't like the pre-rendered graphics used in that era. ;-) I think while Saga has just "right" graphics when you are without the dragon (the "on foot" segments); but when you are flying, especially in areas with a lot of water effects (like when you are flying above Uru), the graphics are outstanding. But what really turns this game beautiful is the art direction - you see a lot of creativity in every environment, character and creature.
@CervantesXV: WHO said that FFVII has good graphics, exactly? It had good graphics back then, but it was heavily surpassed by later PSX games like FFVIII, FFIX, Legend of Dragoon. Comparing one of the best looking game for Saturn, that even came out a good year after it, with a game that isn't even near the peak of PSX graphics, isn't fair. The PSX best in terms of 3D graphics were Tekken 3, Soul Blade, FFIX. All of those honestly steamroll PDS in terms of graphics (not in gameplay, tho).
@Shendue Just to contextualize: I and a few people were discussing rpg's aesthetics and gameplay from the PS/Saturn era, and then someone made a comparison between Saga and FF7 (because they are the most famous rpgs in each console), saying FF7 was much better in every area (that's why I made a comment comparing them both). But yes, Saga's graphics don't compare to, let's say, Vagrant Story (although I prefer Saga's artistic direction and unique designs).

sure I agree with you, I did get a what I would say was a fair deal beacause I useually see it sell for at least £95 . £99, & more so that is definatly closer to the $250 you mentioned .I had only literally bought it the day before ,and was still feeling pretty happy so that is whay I put how much I got it for ;-) Mabey give people hope that if they keep looking they could get lucky.I readon another vid that a guy got a copy fron a goodwill store for $10 !!! Actually, parts 1, 2 and 4 are shooters; this video is from part 3 (the only rpg in the series). There are only four games in the series (the last, "Orta", was on Xbox).

This console was far superior to the PS1. Just imagine how incredible Final Fantasy VII would have looked on this system! The cut-scenes would have been more mind blowing than they already were. And with the ability to add up to a 4 MB RAM cartridge you could really pump out graphics that were only available in arcades back in the day. Just check out X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter and see what the added RAM could do.

You are absolutely right. Graphically the Dreamcast could handle games as visually stunning as Resident Evil 4, but the games were too difficult to write. They had an incredible system that could render 3 million polygons per second. This rivals the current next-gen systems we have. 16.7 million colors and 32 bit sound that could simultaneously articulate 64 sounds. This rivals current systems. The graphic effects were mind blowing. Shame it couldn't last.

Even being a die-hard fan of the Saturn, the truth is the system was better than the Playstation on 2d graphics, not 3d. On 3d, Playstation was far better (if you play Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy 8 you'll see this). But since I'm really into 2d games, Saturn will always be my favourite console! =]

I think I loved simply HAVING this game much more than playing it. IT eventually got way too hard so I gave up and eventually sold the game.

@strykah92 as much as i love Suikoden 3, and i do love it to death, the graphics were terrible (the story was godlike, Soldier Of Fortune Gold Edition on ps2, just...no, there's one or a few bad looking games in every console (mileage may vary) but to say there's none whatsoever i find it hard to believe...still i respect your opinion

I recently bought Saga complete too , outer box 2 main cases manual and of course the 4 discs that were in mint condition btw ,I paid £65 plus about £3 P+P ,a very good deal IMO, Im happy !

@CervantesXV It's a matter of aesthetics, obviously, but if you like a lot of muddy textures, then Saga is your game. FF7 was generally stunning in every respect, even if it used a lot of prerendered elements in its visual presentation. With that said, I never thought Saga was a PRETTY game, but it was both very awesome and very much ahead of its time.

@randomartist01 I think I just don't like the pre-rendered graphics used in that era. ;-) I think while Saga has just "right" graphics when you are without the dragon (the "on foot" segments); but when you are flying, especially in areas with a lot of water effects (like when you are flying above Uru), the graphics are outstanding. But what really turns this game beautiful is the art direction - you see a lot of creativity in every environment, character and creature.

@CervantesXV: WHO said that FFVII has good graphics, exactly? It had good graphics back then, but it was heavily surpassed by later PSX games like FFVIII, FFIX, Legend of Dragoon. Comparing one of the best looking game for Saturn, that even came out a good year after it, with a game that isn't even near the peak of PSX graphics, isn't fair. The PSX best in terms of 3D graphics were Tekken 3, Soul Blade, FFIX. All of those honestly steamroll PDS in terms of graphics (not in gameplay, tho).

@Shendue Just to contextualize: I and a few people were discussing rpg's aesthetics and gameplay from the PS/Saturn era, and then someone made a comparison between Saga and FF7 (because they are the most famous rpgs in each console), saying FF7 was much better in every area (that's why I made a comment comparing them both). But yes, Saga's graphics don't compare to, let's say, Vagrant Story (although I prefer Saga's artistic direction and unique designs).

I got to the end of FF7, then lost the memcard.never got to the ending again, it bored me
I finished chrono trigger, am trying to get chrono cross in my laguage(spanish) because I feel that is a great game
I will finish this one instead of your overrated FF7
and also, play FF 3, 5 and 6, they are better (in my,and some others, opinion)

lol nah.. ii only payed 110 because i wanted it to be complete.. you konw discs.. disc cases manual.. and the cardboard box the cases are in.. if you dont care about the box you can get it for 80 or maybe even 70€ but i wanted the box too so i started a little bidding war that ended at 110 :). id rather consider myself lucky for getting dragon force for 18€ :D

sure I agree with you, I did get a what I would say was a fair deal beacause I useually see it sell for at least £95 . £99, & more so that is definatly closer to the $250 you mentioned .I had only literally bought it the day before ,and was still feeling pretty happy so that is whay I put how much I got it for ;-) Mabey give people hope that if they keep looking they could get lucky.I readon another vid that a guy got a copy fron a goodwill store for $10 !!! (lucky beeeeep)
