i have pc with 256 mb of ram and processor dual core @ 2.80 GHz 2.81 GHz and in my computer works Windows XP pro SP3 , Windows Vista Ultimate , Business and Ultimate - But it works and Windows 7 - Ultimate , Home Premenium and Starter :))
@preludefan fail 1: fista. not a word. fail 2: sim city is not a bad game, so thats more of a compliment, instead of an insult. fail 3: telling someone to suck the dick of a person that clearly doesnt have one.
@nelizmastr oh yeah, there goes that "fail" shit that 15 year old e thuggers use as an attempt to insult people- get a fucking life vista is a shit operating system, it hasnt and never will have dick on xp or 7, sim city if for limp wristed fags with no actual life of their own, i guess your going to tell me that justin bieber is not a bad singer now? move on mr "vista sim city power user"
@nelizmastr and you tell me my comments dont add up? you cant even spell, its stupid programs like vista that make it easy for idiots like you who cant even spell to use computers, keep on with your tit for tat shit, im onto more important things than conversing with you, like taking a shit.
You cant its a limitation of 32-bit software. it can only address around 3.5GB of RAM. the only way to use all 4GB is to upgrade to a 64-bit version of windows
The recommended minimum for Vista is 2GB, because It's so resource hungry (I recommend 3GB from personal experience), but people have gotten Vista to run under 48MB.
i have 3GB of ram. why don't they make better RAM or a fast CPU. it would be awesome if they made a Terabyte of RAM, or a CPU with 1000 gigahertz. lol
I have an idea. Ill install vista on my (other) shittie computer with only 192mb of ram (using your technique) and then ill strip it down with vLite and get a cheap 4gb usb stick and use the readyboost feature to keep it up to speed! =D
Haha, you don't have to upgrade. I still have a 256MB of RAM PC (laptop), and I use it with Linux everyday... As long as your running an OS where it doesn't consume a lot of memory, your fine... And running Vista with 256MB of RAM is not recommended... Not even with 1GB is recommended by a lot of people... I'm using about 1.2GB right now. But I have lots of apps open... ;)
I use ram bus which costs an arm and a leg to buy yet runs at 1066 compared to 506 of normal ram, yet when I try to emulate it on VPC I cant cause of the lack of ram.
I just don't get who in their right mind would want to even install vista with less than 1GB of RAM.. even if it's possible, xp offers better performance for crappier PCs.
Hi I have a Dell Dimension 8200 PC with the following Specs:
120gb Hard Drive
64MB NVIDIA GeForce 3 Ti200 Graphics Card
256mb RDRAM
Intel Pentium 4 Processor
This machine runs the ful version of Windows Vista Home Premium really fast as if it was running on 2gb RAM! The only thing that does not work is my sound Driver because when I install it it keeps on bringing up a blue screen and crashes (Restarts) and every time it restarts it brings up the blue screen and restarts again!
There's an issue where compatiblilty comes into play. If you get the BSOD (blue screen of death), it's usually caused by a hardware failure. For you it's your sound card... I would find exactly what your sound card is, google it in the following way, "**Sound Card Title/Model #** in Vista"...
I would believe so. It deletes the memory check completely. But, I'll warn you, it will be slow... :) Even with stripping it down with VLite. If you doing this for a fun, great! If it's going to be your main OS, I don't recommend that... For that computer, I would run a small version of Linux on it. Like PuppyLinux... :)
Yes, it will be my main OS but I plan on installing 4GB of RAM (the max it supports) into the machine within a month. I currently use a machine with 384MB of RAM with Windows Vista Ultimate, it runs fine, but no AERO. I wonder if it would be much slower with only 192MB of RAM.
Your welcome! Yeah, Vista would run find on that machine if you get rid of some things with vLite. ;) You should get some more RAM though. You're specs are not that bad, actually. You could use it for everyday computing... XP is faster than Vista though... :)
I have not tested it with SP1 yet; but in reality, it should. Because SP1 just has some modified files, the installer files are not changed much. I just put in my Vista Ultimate CD SP1, and winsetup.dll is still there. It should work! Just compared the two files (my Home Premium, and Ultimate SP1 DVD's), and they are the same file. All checked out lee021021! It should work!
Download Winrar (link in YouTube description). Then extract the file. And overwrite it with the one in the sources folder. ;) Then, run the setup file in the main directory on the computer with 256mb of RAM, or what ever amount you have... Or, if you did this on a different computer (one with more ram for a example), you'll have to move the files over with some form of media. ;)
i dnt understand wut 2 do i downloaded the file and the vista file i have is an ISO file when i use vlite it tells me the files arent where i put them help plz i dnt understand wut to do w the file u had me download do i burn my ISO file and the .dll file onto a cd-rom and how do i do that
Well first of all, having a ISO of a Vista proves to me that your copy is most likely not retail, and you probably did not buy it. But, I will help you anyways. You have to extract the ISO you have, then put the DLL file into the \Sources directory of the CD-Rom. In other words, extract all the files of that ISO (WinRAR can do that), replace the DLL with this one in the Sources folder of the extracted ISO, then move these files to the computer with 256mb of RAM. Hope this helps you.

GCS2K8 2 years ago
Hey, it's not necessary to copy the DVD files to a flash drive, goto vLite and when it copy the files
just go to the folder where vLite copied files, and then copy the patched "winsetup.dll" to that folder.
so then vLite will copy Windows files and the patched winsetup. (it will make it bootable)
Good video :)
