  • i like this group so much

    i wish i was born in the 60's ='(

  • what year was this?

  • @dmuse1981 1978

  • СПАСИБО!!! БОЛЬШОЕ!!! ЗА SWEET !!!

  • you need to fix it-it's in mono-left side doesn't work-THANKS!

  • @DARRINCONNOR1 The camera never focuses on Brian's face here. Brian had been struggling with alcohol for a few years prior to this. E.G on a promo of 1976's 'Fever of Love' Brian's face looks bloated and he seems to have been drinking heavily ! After suffering a series of heart attacks in the early 80's his health declined again after a spell of illness which damaged his spine ;also he was then involved in a serious car crash that damaged his ankle. B C showed grit towards the end !!

  • Talk about a versatile band.Just amazing!!!!! I just watched the Brian Connolly Doc."Dont leave me this way" I'm tellin you it was one of the saddest things i ever watched.Dont think there is a worse drug than alcohol and its 100% legal

  • @SorBill07, i don't get what your point is.

  • LISTEN STEVEN FROM L.A. CALIFORNIA WHO WAS A MUSIC ARTIST PROMOTER OF THE 70'S DIED OF HIV AIDS..............

  • I find it sad to see Brian 'making up the numbers' here. This was due to the worsened state of his health .Andy plays some nice, Zeppelin influenced ,guitar work here but,for me, Brian was always the main man !

  • @TheHumbuckerboy A bad as shape Brian was in here you cant really tell yet, just by his appearence. He still looks good and healthy .Really a sad sad story

  • I LOVE YOU STEVE!!!!!!

  • thats a big ass guitar brian, sure u can keep it up?

  • steve has a very nice unique voice...they all did....differently.

  • does anybody have tabs for this?

  • I always thought Brian Connolly was the only lead singer - I couldn't tell when Steve Priest or Andy Scott were singing - maybe that's why I'm not a muso!

  • @RCbeastly in 1974 , Brian was beaten up by some guys , they kicked him several times in the throat by the words * kick em hard so that he can t sing anymore .After that accident his voice lost his power and some songs Steve became the lead singer ,

  • @walter4092 Are you serious? Not that I doubt you, only for musical curiosity because I'm a guitarist that obviously admires this group greatly, where did you hear/read about this incident?Any info who might have done it?Sounds like envious musicians maybe.Fuckers! What an outstanding group.Share their music with everyone that doesn't know of them.

  • @MrJohnnyDistortion it s written in the book * are you ready Steve *Brian decided to go out with a friend for a few drinks in Staines .It seems that some boyfriends took offence when Brian and his friends tried to steal their girls .The irrate duo it would appear , followed Brian out of the pub and proceeted to beat out the daylight of him.It happened when Sweet was working on an album .songs like Restless and you don t were must be sang by Steve

  • @walter4092 Thanx for the info. How his life ended was as tragedy not only for him but for music.Alcohol is a beast that should not be trifled with and can get you in trouble or injured as we know he was.Smame.Thank you very much for the info and your time.I ask folks if they know of Sweet. Some say Ballroom Blitz,Love Is.Some say never heard of them.I play some other great cuts and of course they're impressed, especially with the incredible vocals.Queen before Queen.Fortunate that we had them.

  • @MrJohnnyDistortion sweet had in the usa top 3 hit with little Willy , nr 5 with Ballroom blitz , fox on the run also nr 5 i think and Love is like oxygen nr 8.they were incredible in our regios , all their records became a hit , after action it was done , love is like oxygen was here top 10 .listen also too Wigwam bam , the first single they were allowed to play on .Brian s problems with alcohol became worser after the kick in the throat .

  • @walter4092 I remember Willy when I was a kid in Massachussetts. My Desolation Blvd. "album" is mint. They were one of the 1st groups that allured me to the guitar and have played to this day.I can only imagine that Brian got more depressed after the attack/damage.Unfortunately,he should have stayed away from other men's woman.I'm urprised and pleased with all the extra material and history here on YT.Fun.

  • Tower Records - I think Slash stole records from there when he was a kid and later worked there!

  • Excellent! I had no idea there was a video for this song. I wonder where this was shown?

  • love the shots of Sunset, LA used to be great...Beach Boys, Sun, Hot Rods, Hot thin woman.... now, its just a liberal, union greedy, illegal alien, food stamp using, EBT sh*thole..welcome to LA!!! ahh had to get that off my chest...

  • what a great band. Ive never heard most of their songs because they dont play them on the radio- only "ballroom blitz" , but a good tune nevertheless.

  • Great Song! That's my uncle, I'm so proud! Big Apple Waltz is another great one he does!

  • Nice one, nice lead turn from Steve Priest. And yes, a shame how Brian's health shut him down just as The Sweet were poised to reach greater heights.

  • I was a total fan

  • yay yay go Stevey ^^

i didn't know that Brian could play guitar :3

  • hey did he dis Miami?? I love it!

  • actually brians throat was injured in a barroom brawl in the mid 70's and he never sang the same after....he collapsed on stage during a gig and they had to finish without him... dont blame the group.

  • @DNRvideos

    D: poor Brian

  • Brian must have been totally out of it that he was excluded from any close-ups. Nice vocals from Steve though.

  • Steve Priest on lead vocal - sounds good. But pity that Brian left after this song, they never had the sane succes without him.

  • @Wolli1960

why did Brian left after this song??

  • Sounds like rain songs from zeppelin...

  • lets face it big fucking mistake letting brian go. He just needed more rehab and less andy scott,.... without him they became a jjoke.......

  • Tight..Can only imagine what might have been if they didn't part with Brian after this.

  • pretty good track, miss the sweet, really great band .

  • Have a great day!!

  • super

  • Could Brian's guitar be just a bit bigger?

  • sie liebt dich sweet

  • nice

  • Just like this song so much. Call me is another great sweet song. Tinker luvs Pamela Barny

  • Greatest glam rock band ever!

  • they all have nice voices

  • @tonlo92 They were all lead singers in their own right

  • @tonlo92

I agree with you - it is a common secret that Queen "took" alot from Sweet vocal

What is great with this Video is that you see all members of Sweet are singing

It is also nice to see Brian with a Guitar, but why in the hell did he pick the biggest guitar around ;o)

  • @isgren8 LOL I thought the same thing about the guitar, I think it means something........................maybe cause Brian isn't singing the lead they gave the biggest guitar to him to kind of make up for it...............?

    MUNTERBLEINEN!!!

  • What a f*cken song. This rocks and is very underrated. If the state of California was smart they would adopt this song as their theme song as Georgia adopted 'Georgia on your mind ' by Ray Charles.

  • Brian Connolly left Sweet in 1978 and the other band members continued as a 3 piece until 1982. In 1984 Brian Connolly formed a version of Sweet with new members that lasted until 1996 just before his death in February 1997. In 1985 Andy Scott and Mick Tucker also had their own version of Sweet with new members and Mick Tucker left in 1991 and Andy Scott still continues with his version of Sweet with new members. Steve Priest last year formed his version of Sweet with new members.

    Alfred

  • Are these guys still around? I just floated over here, just checking out old stuff I remember from years back, and this just popped in my head. This is really neat, I never knew there was a video for this. very nice.

  • Brian Connolly 51 passed away in 97.. basically drank himself to death..

Mick Tucker 54 passed away in 02 from leukemia

  • Warum wurde diese Single von Steve und nicht von Brian gesungen, bzw. warum hat die Plattenfirma einen von Steve gesungenen Titel ausgekoppelt? War das schon so eine Andeutung, auf das, was kommt?

  • That is one BIG guitar that Brian is playing

  • THAT IS IT!!! The guitar is huge. I was wondering why Brian looked sooo small.

You know how sometimes something looks wierd but you can't put your finger on it? I love this song. Steve rocks!!!!!!!!!!!

    xxooxxoxoxox

  • I LOVE STEVE'S VOICE!!! There's something very awesome of a tonal quality in Steve's voice which reminds me alot of ROBERT PLANT, like when Plant used to sing kind of low to midrange & not scream...(Like in Tangerine, The Rain Song, Thank You, All of My Love, Fool In the Rain & Sea of Love!) I'm really surprised (considering how appealing & great Steve's tone was) that they didn't have him singing more leads!!!! He's right up there, quality-wise! I love it!!!!!!!!! :) A++++

  • SEAOFGREEN you should listen to "No You Don't" by Steve -- he's sounds even more awesome!!!!!!! Then there is my favorite "Sixties Man"

Check 'em out!! I love Steve!!!!!

  • letzte gemeinsame single der sweet.war auch

chartmäßig nicht mehr der renner.aber trotzdem

guter song von der level headed lp.brian stand

im abseits, tat mir als großer sweet fan weh.

  • mir auch :-(

  • The Drummer Is So Underrated He Deserved Alot More

  • Thank you. I am so happy that someone else knows how great Andy Tucker was on drums!!!

  • Mick Tucker...he´s name was M i c k Tucker

    (Michael Thomas Tucker *17. Juli 1947 + 14. Februar 2002) R.I.P. Mick and Brian...never forget you !!!

  • @ ScottAnderson

  • Oops, sorry. I drank too much Saki, when I posted my message, and my wife and I, we're listening to Desolation Boulevard, while we we're drinking the Saki, and while I posted that last message. I know His name is Mick Tucker. Brian Connolly, Steve Priest, Andy Scott, Mick Tucker. "THE SWEET". We love them. Rest In Peace Brian And Mick. Please excuse my stupidity. Sincerely, Scott Anderson!!!

  • hey dude, don´t forget to invite me to your next Saki-Session ;o)

*big hug* from Germany to you and your wife !

  • No problem there guy. You are invited to our next Saki-Session, which should be any day now. And while we are all getting blasted on Hot Saki, we will listen to all of our "SWEET" LP's, and 45's. Wait until you hear them through our Klipsch Speakers. Love, Irene and Scott Anderson!!!

  • .....and Mick with the Mullet - now HE'S a CUTIE!!!!

he's seriously missed - along with Brian!

    R.I.P. you guys!!

  • I can NOT get enough of seeing this video!

    I love you, Steve!!!

    xoxoxoox

  • How great to see the spotlight on Steve Priest for a change.

In all other vids, he's hardly ever shown.

    He's such a cutie.

  • YES, he IS a cutie!!!!! I wished I could see him touring now. He's just as awesome as EVER!!!!!! ....are you ready Steve? Uh huh

    xoxoxoxoxoxo

  • Brian is standing apart. It's a shame

  • Opening shot is great. That famous Tower Records on Sunset recently closed down. Too bad.

  • that shot appears in the movie, 'aloha bobby and rose'....i think.

    it looks familiar.

    yeah, sux about tower records.

    i loved that place!

  • How amazing is steves voice? hes amazing, just like andy, mick and brian! The best band i have EVER heard!

  • wow been listening to this tune for like 25yrs nice to see it done,,,,,thanks youtube..fuccck yeahhhhh

  • Brian is always in the shadows - never a good face shot, huh?

    Steve, YOU ROCK!!

    Love Mick's hair-do.

    I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!!!!!!

  • Brian and Mick have passed....but I can still LOVE THOSE GUYS!!!!

  • sounds like robert plant of led zeppelin in my opinion.

  • great song..love theses guys

  • Wow but look at Mick with a mullet in the 70s! Ahead of his time that boy. Pretty much the best band of the decade.

  • This song is awesome!!!

  • Too bad Cali is just a shit hole these days :(

  • No, it's not.

  • The MIGHTY SWEET... including the now defunct Tower Records on Sunset Boulevard. The music world is now in a sad state. Long live The Sweet!

  • Great bass work by a great bassist.

  • I love this band. Andy Scott is great guitarist. I have seen Andy Scott´s Sweet in Prague. Their concert was amazing, but Brian Connolly and Mick Tucker don´t were here and I feel bad about it. R.I.P Brian and Mick.

  • Just love this song....

  • thnx some much for this..i love steve a lot hahaha...Sweet were such a talented band.. But sweet died when brian connolly left..and andy shouldnt have kept going.

  • And how cool is Steve? He is the most brilliant artist I have ever seen on stage. Coooooool

  • Steve playing a Gibson Thunderbird.

    How Cool!

And yes...They whole band could sing lead.

  • There was NOTHING that wasn't COOL about Steve!!!!

    Awesome. Sexy. The Best!!!

    xoxx

  • yeap yeap yeap the blue eye man wasn't he IS cool and awesome i luv

  • One of the few songs Steve sang lead! Thanks so much for posting this great video of SWEET history!

  • I think the reason it wasn't as great a hit is because it didn't have that "hook" nor the urgency of their characteristic hits. Nevertheless, it is a great song... Heck, the best songs of LOTS of groups were never hits.

  • Pure and moresome I just feel so cheated that those two are not here-pisses me right off.

  • Just such a K@@L song, It just OooooooooZes a cool summer vibe. Steve had an amazing voice as did all of the boys. Summer sun cooling breeze open top cars surf boards waves & babes. Yeah i'm still living the dream. My mp3 cd & dvd i-pod etc all are filled with sweet songs & vids. Soooooooooo glad my memory is still as it should be. 44 going on 16. Glam it up & escape lfe before life escapes you!

  • I like this song.

  • I still don't understand how this wasn't a bigger hit in the states. I mean its about California for thing, and it had that late 70s sound that was so popular at the time. Instead it hits #23 in Germany. Go figure.

  • Steve Priest on lead vocals - sounds good. What a pity that Brian Connolly (R.I.P.) left the band a little bit later.

  • at 2.58 Mick Tucker does this great drum fill,Totally underated drummer I don,t think He,s ever been featured in Modern Drummer MAG,To me the Sweet were better than Queen,I never thought freddies Voice was that Great anyway.all of sweet sang and andy scott is a very Versatile Guitar Player

  • God. Didn't even know there was a vid. But then again, over here in the US the only song that ever got played was "Love is Like Oxygen." Love this album.

  • Hey..TigerliluLoamsdown..you know that Brian May is the guitar player in Queen...pure genius. The sweet and Queen....They're just the best!!

  • Too bad they are both gone now.Anyway the wind blows...

  • Nothing like a little Sweet debate to clear the air. I think any voice trouble Brian may have had was from that attack he suffered. Listen to the differences, they are pretty obvious. Steve had to do lead on "no you don't' from DB because Brian was still recovering at the time.

  • And if you give his "Level Headed" vocals a listen, he made a nice recovery by then..Too bad it would be the last album with Brian.

  • check out the demos they did, his voice was trashed but still Brian, you are so right, but i have to say i know for a fact he didn't lose any of that classic power he had

  • none of them were limited with what they could sing...in the six teens it was the way brian was singing when he entered that verse that defined the outcome sounding like he was testing the limit and as we're all SWEET fans here, i say STOP ARGUING and PAY ATTENTION to the BEST Band in the WORLD...focus on that and (to quote) 'you'll never go wrong'. <3<3<3<<<

  • i'm a steve buff but i don't 100% agree with your comment, yes i like to hear steve lead but my favourite sweet song has brian on lead and yes although steve had a synth voice and could reach definatively higher and lower notes than the rest they ALL could reach high and low notes in some form and therefore

  • Tower Records RIP (1970-2006). It's the end of the world as we know it...

  • NOOOOOOOO, tear. I managed to buy all sweet records from 2 stores. b4 they closed.

  • I first saw this video back in a Mexico City rock video bar back in 1980! I almost fainted when they showed my favorite band, The MIGHTY Sweet! I loved seeing the Tower Records store, just accross the street where they shot the Desolation Blvd cover. Great stuff!

  • I love hearing stories about where folks heard Sweet songs/vids, or saw them play. I always thought this one should have been bigger, having only cracked #23 in Germany. But to hear/see it Mexico City 1980? Awesome!

  • This is a GREAT song AND video! It's one of the few where Brian has a guitar (for obvious reasons here)... In most videos I want to run in there and hand him a tambourine or something ~ even if the bells have been removed! *grin* He keeps (or kept, rather... *sigh*) great rhythm during the songs, but I always thought his thighs had to be sore the way he pounded on them! =) *LOL*

  • Love this song, but my favourite one that Steve did lead on was Big apple waltz.

  • I think this was the best one Steve ever sang lead on.

  • Yeah, it's the best one Steve sang lead on--but that automatically makes it one of the lesser Sweet tunes. There's a reason Brian was the lead singer: He was far better a vocalist than anybody else in the band.

  • You think so? Brian did have a unique voice for sure. This just happens to be one of my favorite Sweet songs all around. And I think that Level Headed could have paved the way for something entirely new for them had things worked out, sharing the leads and a different sound. Wasn't to be though...

  • No doubt Brian had a beautiful voice in his prime but he did have limited vocal range compared to Steve or Andy. If you give "The Sixteens" a listen, Brian is maxed out when singing "Cause you're all!!" part of the six teens. You seem to be a big fan of Brian but he didn't sing lead on many songs for legit reasons aside from who wrote them.

  • I disagree with your contention that Brian's range was limited as compared to Steve or Andy. His voice was--in his early days--more pure and wide-ranging by far. Yes, I'm a big Brian Connolly fan, but I am one because he was so immensely talented a vocalist.

  • Pure? Absolutely! Control? Excellent. Wide ranging compared to the others? Not from what I hear. Brian was never able to hit the upper registers that the other band members did but he did have a clear melodic tone while singing in his element. Make no mistake, his voice control was usually the best in the band.

  • this was my suprise fav on the album.

i still have this album in my collection.

haven't had a turntable for years...

sweet and foghat live and april wine.

    I wore it out...

  • One of the most versatile bands EVER.

  • never realised that steve sung the lead, thanks for posting the vid.

  • is this from the level headed album?

  • It is! Great album tho too...

  • thanks, i´m going to get me that album.

  • yes this is from 1978 level headed

  • Great video & great song.

  • This was from a "non-official" compilation (ie possible bootleg) I bought on ebay. I found a goldmine of Sweet performances this way. Bit worried about uploading too many for obvious reasons.

  • We have looked everywhere...THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

  • How did you find this. LUV IT!!

    Thanks

  • Dude-where DID you find this? Great late 70s sound from the gods of glam. Thanks for posting.
