  • Lol Crysis and FEAR on PC have far superior water effects.

This looks more like Half Life 2.

  • every crysis geek STFU, crysis has amazing water but is it interactible? NOPE, gears has cool interactible water too! its not 3d waves its a reflection in shader trick, this is full on 3d waves! thats why its so cool, each games good in there own way!

  • @SBWaffelmann I'm still not too sure about GeoW having 3D dynamic water, though Unreal 3 does have support for it now.

  • @SBWaffelmann Just because it reacts to the player does not mean it's 3D. From what I've observed, it's 2D, with a very nice surface shader to give it that 3D appearance.

  • @mobius1aic

if thats a shader than i'm santa clause :P

  • there is almost no physic processing going on.

  • Resistance 2's fluid affects aren't tied to just the surface, but throughout the fluid environment, and I don't think that Crysis uses actual 3D fluid like Physx. Crysis might have the best looking water, but I think Resistance has the most Interactive.... aside from Cryostasis which does actually use Physx Fluid

  • The best water effects so far. The wave simulation is incredibly realistic.

he water in Resistance 2's ocean monster level has been criticized by some but that's actually precisely how water behaves in the ocean. This is the only game that accounts for surface tension in it's wave creation physics.

  • @ihamoitc2005 Halo Reach water have waves that are affected by the wind

  • Resistance 2 has the best fluid effects I've seen so far, but they are based on the surface of the water. Crysis actually has the ability to calculate real 3D fluid physics (note the difference between effects and physics), as demonstrated in user created mod videos experimenting with CryEngine's fluid simulation. Resistance 2's water calculating seems to be directly tied to the surface of the water, not the volume itself.

  • @headshotjoe101 Gears 2 uses 2D surface effects, a la Bioshock, Fallout 3, Oblivion, not 3D based water using 3D Fast Fourier Transformation like R2.

  • I also have a gaming PC that plays crysis maxed out my friend, the specs are on my empire total war video. and a ps3. Killzone in immense dont gte me wrong, but crysis is much better graphics, physics detail wise. Cryengine 2 is incredible. Killzone has laughable textures in comparison to crysis.

  • of course crysis beats hands down in any graphical test. But the water physics in this i.e the water reactions are second to none

  • i have a gaming pc that can play Crysis on ultra high and also a PS3, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 for raw detail, effects and frame rates "hands down" beets Crysis and Crysis Warhead.

  • crysis owns all, you know it, but maybe best water on consoles. if halo3 had reflections it would be amazingly real just like kz2 (cheap fake reflections) while farcry2s water reflects but is completely static. so far no console game has really put a focus on making "realistic" water.

  • pretty impressive comment, apart from the "fact" (ever heard that word?) that the latest rumors about a ps3 port of crysis are as old as mid-2008.

crytek has developed cryengine 3 for consoles and someone from crytek has been quoted saying:

"if the game is shader-heavy it runs a bit faster on 360; if its compute-heavy with physics and particles, then the SPUs take over and its a bit quicker on PS3."

and noones gonna take your opinion on halo 3 serious anyway. being a fanboy is outdated.

  • @nsewx

being a fanboy is overrated..seriously,just stop.

  • R2 = best water EVER (although the jello effect is funny)

  • if its funny its not realistic

not realistic = not the best water effects

  • Gears 2 water is better.

  • gears 2 water is goo.

  • hardly.

  • right....
