I've always liked this movie, being somewhat partial to teh Wehrmacht, but IMHO there are far too many scenes of Germans just losing their cool completely.
@BleedingDiamondz they didn't destroy them. Tanks are metal. Metal +Fire = very bad combination for tank crew. Smoke enters tank and remember tanks run on gas and have lots of gunpowder inside. It would force them to get out of em. Hell some cocktails can take out an Abram too.

@kis12134 they lost the first 5 million in 1941 in Operation Barbarossa were the Russians weren't ready for war with Germany from the Nazi-Soviet pact and yes STALIN didn't care about life but they had already lost Leningrad which was special to Russia and Stalingrad was very important as it linked the whole of southern Russia so if lost the Nazis could easily take it over, so Stalin made his officers kill retreating men so that no more Russian soil could be taken, it worked but it was heartless

You know how Russia evaded attacks in the past? They withdrew and burned down their own cities to starv the enemy out. Why would you not stick to a winning concept? The panther was a way beter tank , single panthers would take out 20 T-34's a day. The Panther could attack tanks at a range of 1500 meters , the T-34 had to close in about 500 meters. T-34's could not ram , they were destroyed before they came into firing range. Yes no diffrence between Tiger 2 en T-34

@EdgarEmigholz Roughly three millions of Soviet military deaths are due to POWs dying in captivity. You see, during Barbarossa the USSR lost millions of troops as POWs to Germany. Germany didn't treat these POWs well at all.
As the war went on, the Red Army better and better, both in terms of doctrine, equipment and troops. Read about Operation Bagration and Operation August Storm. Both of these major operations showed how goddamn badass the Red Army had become by 44'/45'.

No, I don't think I am underestimating the Wehrmact troops. In the scene, I didn't see any Panther tanks. In fact, I didn't even see a Panzer IV. No german armor at all. All I saw was an 10.5cm artillery cannon, which was not even an anti-tank gun. Not impossible to knock-out tank with one, but unlikely. All the rest was just regular infrantry. Potato mashers, MP-40s and K98k against a dozen or so T-34s? HAHAHA! Yeah, right. They would have either run in terror or would have been annilated.

The gun they are using is a 7.5 cm or 5 cm PAK antitank gun , secondly pay attention how they destroy these tanks , with so called Hafthohlladung also called the 'Tank Breaker' used primarily by Wehrmacht tank killer squads. @papawx3 its a pak 38 5 cm antitank gun, you can recognize it on the distinct angled metal shield of the gun.
look at the scene where the last tank gets shot and you see the gun from behind the gunners. that way the gun is easily identified. If you want to know what a pak 38 can do to russian tanks, look up Fritz Christen, got a knights cross for shooting 13 t34 in a more hopeless situation than even depicted in this movie.
I believe there were two T-26 besides the T-34s. These T-26 could be destroyed by molotov cocktails because the thin armour with several point of leak in the armor. Not sure about T-34s. However, because the numerical inferiority in tanks, Germans developed good anti-tank tactics with magnectic mines such in the movie, panzerfaust, panzerschrek among others.

@EdgarEmigholz I think the reason the primary reason why the russians suffered far more casualties than the germans was the fact that the Kremlin had absolutely no regard at all for the loss of men and/or material as long as they were takingback ground. Russian artillery routinely opened up on their own infrantry's positions as a way to motivate them to advance. This order came straight from Uncle Joe himself. Read the book:"Kruschev Remembers". Summary executions were also common by commisars.

@jasincl Gasoline won't EXPLODE or do any to penetration for tanks. And the amounts of the nitroglycerine were used in these bottles, were way too far to harm a tank. And those holes in front of the tank, are way too small that the flames or gasoline could cause any harm for to crew or any mechanical system inside the tank. Rule number 1 when using molotovs: to be used at the engine (the engine vent-exhaust pipe), bigger vents or to open hatch.

Schwachsinn. Erst der modernisierte Panzer IV war dem T34-76 ebenbürtig. Die folgenden Panzer V und Panzer VI waren überlegen.
Die einzigen Mankos des T34 waren die schlechte Sicht und besonders die fehlenden Funkgeräte (wodurch effiziente Manöver erschwert bzw unmöglich wurden).
Aber dann haben die Russen die Entwicklung echt verpennt und sich auf den T34 verlassen. Eine wirksame Antwort auf Tiger und Königstiger kam erst 1945 mit dem JS-3.

@kis12134 they lost the first 5 million in 1941 in Operation Barbarossa were the Russians weren't ready for war with Germany from the Nazi-Soviet pact and yes STALIN didn't care about life but they had already lost Leningrad which was special to Russia and Stalingrad was very important as it linked the whole of southern Russia so if lost the Nazis could easily take it over, so Stalin made his officers kill retreating men so that no more Russian soil could be taken, it worked but it was heartless

After launching second front in Normandie, about 15% of german Wehrmacht fought on the western front. The other 85% on the eastern front. Russian soldiers had to force the way to Germany. But the Russians won the war with material help of the United States. And they payed it with solid gold, earned by Boeing&Co.

The panther was a way beter tank , single panthers would take out 20 T-34's a day. The Panther could attack tanks at a range of 1500 meters , the T-34 had to close in about 500 meters. @EdgarEmigholz Roughly three millions of Soviet military deaths are due to POWs dying in captivity. You see, during Barbarossa the USSR lost millions of troops as POWs to Germany. Germany didn't treat these POWs well at all.
As the war went on, the Red Army better and better, both in terms of doctrine, equipment and troops. Read about Operation Bagration and Operation August Storm. Both of these major operations showed how goddamn badass the Red Army had become by 44'/45'.

No, I don't think I am underestimating the Wehrmact troops. In the scene, I didn't see any Panther tanks. In fact, I didn't even see a Panzer IV. No german armor at all. All I saw was an 10.5cm artillery cannon, which was not even an anti-tank gun. Not impossible to knock-out tank with one, but unlikely. All the rest was just regular infrantry. Potato mashers, MP-40s and K98k against a dozen or so T-34s? HAHAHA! Yeah, right. They would have either run in terror or would have been annilated.

The gun they are using is a 7.5 cm or 5 cm PAK antitank gun , secondly pay attention how they destroy these tanks , with so called Hafthohlladung also called the 'Tank Breaker' used primarily by Wehrmacht tank killer squads. @papawx3 its a pak 38 5 cm antitank gun, you can recognize it on the distinct angled metal shield of the gun.
look at the scene where the last tank gets shot and you see the gun from behind the gunners. that way the gun is easily identified. If you want to know what a pak 38 can do to russian tanks, look up Fritz Christen, got a knights cross for shooting 13 t34 in a more hopeless situation than even depicted in this movie.

I believe there were two T-26 besides the T-34s. These T-26 could be destroyed by molotov cocktails because the thin armour with several point of leak in the armor. Not sure about T-34s. However, because the numerical inferiority in tanks, Germans developed good anti-tank tactics with magnectic mines such in the movie, panzerfaust, panzerschrek among others.

I have read stories from veterans, and destroying 10 T-34's a day was their normal routine. 1 story about a panther tank crewmember wrote in his book , that the Russians would launch a frontal attack so many times and leaving their flanks open. @EdgarEmigholz I think the reason the primary reason why the russians suffered far more casualties than the germans was the fact that the Kremlin had absolutely no regard at all for the loss of men and/or material as long as they were takingback ground. Russian artillery routinely opened up on their own infrantry's positions as a way to motivate them to advance. This order came straight from Uncle Joe himself. Read the book:"Kruschev Remembers". Summary executions were also common by commisars.

I don't want to whine about but if u throw a molotov cocktail to tanks front side, the tank will not be destryed. Only little bit of gasoli can get inside the tank but russian driver will just laught at it and then rub his ass on it till it stops burning xD. But thought this is exellent movie. Perfeckt film von Deutschland, danke scön Edgar!

@silentk1ll well depends the t.34 frontal armour wasnt thick at all what amde it powerful was because it was sloped but fire could easliy burn the driver and radio operator

@jasincl Gasoline won't EXPLODE or do any to penetration for tanks. And the amounts of the nitroglycerine were used in these bottles, were way too far to harm a tank. And those holes in front of the tank, are way too small that the flames or gasoline could cause any harm for to crew or any mechanical system inside the tank. Rule number 1 when using molotovs: to be used at the engine (the engine vent-exhaust pipe), bigger vents or to open hatch.

Also das ist echte mega gewesen. Ne kleine deutsche Truppe gegen ne russische Panzerdivision. Okay die Russischen Panzer waren zu der Zeit eh schlechter als die Amerikanischen Deutschen oder britischen.

@ThalonVerus von der technik her waren die nicht schlechter....
Nur vom sichtradiuas her... deshalb kamen die relativ leicht an die Panzer ran..
solange sie nicht direkt vor dem Panzer standen
Durch dieses Problem rateten russische Panzer auch sehr oft in Hinterhalte....

Schwachsinn. Erst der modernisierte Panzer IV war dem T34-76 ebenbürtig. Die folgenden Panzer V und Panzer VI waren überlegen.
Die einzigen Mankos des T34 waren die schlechte Sicht und besonders die fehlenden Funkgeräte (wodurch effiziente Manöver erschwert bzw unmöglich wurden).
Aber dann haben die Russen die Entwicklung echt verpennt und sich auf den T34 verlassen. Eine wirksame Antwort auf Tiger und Königstiger kam erst 1945 mit dem JS-3.
