One of the biggest problems I see is that Fedor seems to be uncomfortable in the cage. In a rope ring you cannot pin people against the wall, so to speak. For smaller, faster fighters, that is a huge weakness. Fedor has been fighting in open rings most of his career. I personally don't understand the point of the cage - many fighter cling to it illegally and use it a pinning technique in a "cheap" way.

The ring is still awesome, don't get me wrong. But the cage is much safer and more suited for MMA. Fedor chose not to adapt, he said so himself. I wish he would update his training, but oh well. @dt089 - Silva is a beast and right now he dominates his division like Fedor "DID" his. Right now they both have the same fight record. Fedor was a complete fighter w/ ground and striking game before most fighters were.
Competition among the hvywts. has picked up dramatically over the years since Fedor dominated. I think he needs to keep up. Unfortunately i dont think that is going to happen, he is too loyal to his training team. A admirable characteristic, but maybe his liability too.

Silva is just unbelievable. I haven't seen a fighter that can put his hands down with such great head movement in so many fights and then TKO a top contender the second after. Silvas downfall is wrestling but hes so quick and has such good BJJ he can counter the wrestling a lot of times like Sonnen, Hendo, and Luter.
