  • Matt mate, I think you really should do some freelance articles for Retrogamer magazine, I think they'd be very informitive and enjoyable to read

  • Awesome interview. I actually always wanted to became an game concept artist...now I'm a bit too old for it (still hoping hehe), but I enjoyed the interview and his perspective and all I have to say, hard work, patience and passion pay off in the end...and we all fail, but we learn from it and hopefully become better.

  • Thank you for these interviews. This one in particular, as an artist, inspires me greatly.

  • Thanks again for another awesome episode!

  • Awesome, thanks :)

Is part three the last one or will there be more?

  • Fantastic episode, as usual!

  • Happy new year Matt.

  • I really enjoyed this and Thank You! :-)

It is a pity Andrew Braybrook has chosen to stay on the down low and not do any interviews though Steve Turner probably would do one!

  • People often come into my studio and ask why I'm pacing about or gesticulating, I tell them I'm just getting a feel for the animation I'm working on, Now I don't feel like an idiot for doing it!

I really feel what Mark said about there being a limit to how much detail you should show the player, graphically. I rarely go above 320x200 res myself:D

    Fantastic interview guys!

  • What a way to end 2011... with a great episode of Matt Chat!

Fantastic episode, fantastic guest, fantastic interview, fantastic production values, and fantastic "performance" by Matt! I am totally uplifted by the Mark Soderwall episodes!

Everyone check out Matt's game "Thrust Lifter" on the Armchair Arcade site as well! It's well worth downloading! Not only did he do the programming and graphics, he also composed the music too, with some excellent real guitar riffs!

    Happy New Year, Matt!

  • Stoic quad! We had some of that for christmas. We got it because it was from Oregon and my mom lived there. It was definatly a mood lifter. We could tell because some were bummed from the trip from Oregon to here, and we took a drink and suddenly the plights of the travel were gone. She had that same expression you had.

  • I love these interviews with Mark! So interesting

  • Thanks for all the videos Matt. I wish you a Happy New Year!

  • Big, THANK YOU Matt ::) for this videos! Great ending ::) I wish you all the best for the New Year ::)......and after ::) All best, Demon ::)

  • Happy new year Matt!

  • What's that box in the background at the top right with OBLIVION on it?

  • @EdwardElric555 Looks like Space Station Oblivion.

  • I used to use Deluxe Paint II back in the day.

  • What a nice guy!

  • 30:45... damn, caught in the act

  • Matt, you're quite the guy! There is truly nothing else like Matt Chat, anywhere. These interviews are always better than the last. Donated you a tiny bit, all I can afford right now. But anyways, thanks again!

  • @l2ic3 Thanks and very welcome.

  • Great episode. I'll keep an eye out for that brew next time I'm looking for something tasty.

  • Another fantastic interview! Every interview is so casual, yet so informative. Keep it up.

  • Gold box DND games as a backdrop to the ale? Amazing!! This is a great interview and perfect for me who is looking to get into game concept art as a career, in fact I was drawing while I listened to this interview ;)

  • Nice one Matt...hey been re-playing a fair bit of might and magic 3,4,5,6 at the moment (not in any particular order :P) - any chance of getting an interview with JVC any time soon?

and Curse of the Azure Bonds for the win (caught looking :))

  • @abeheron I'd love to chat with him, but I've never been able to contact him.

  • Matt, sometimes your humor has a way of creeping up on me when I watch your videos and I always get a kick out of them.... warm.... cool... LOL!

Another great interview, this guy is real easy to listen to and I like his perspective. My mom used to do the exact same thing with me (5 dollars at the Fun and Games) while she went shopping to a T. I also remember the giant 3 screen display accompanying Dragons Lair when it first came out. Great memories, I can almost smell the arcade again.

  • @lordmangafee I hope it's a pleasant smell. :)
