I have one. It's fun to plink with, but more for self defense (feel sorry for anyone coming through a window at my place). Use a good strap (they have a Kel-Tec made one) for accuracy. Keep it WELL lubed and it's mag lubed and you're good to go. I put the factory strap and fore-grip on and a decent brake/flash sup. & it fires true every time. No misfires as long as oiled VERY well.
Kel-Tec can't call it an assault anything. However, you've got to be blind not to see this is used in close-quarters combat. The .223 has enough knock down power at that range to take a man off his feet. And it is very light weight too.

Ok for the haters these guns have chrome lined barrel with a 1:9 twist, I have a red dot on mine and at 200 yds am getting at 1.5 to 2 inch grouping. Now this may not be a great gun for home defense because you will go def, but If I were to go camping, trailing, or anything in that setting this is the absolute perfect gun more accurate than a standard pistol and way lighter/less bulk than traditional rifles. Looks like you ran into the same problem as me the metal mags jammed, get the pmag.

Seems like it's too powerful to be a pistol. Without a stock it would be difficult to aim such a weapon when firing in succession, and women wouldn't even be able to take the recoil.
@Bob6500ify Combat Handguns magazine author D.K. Pridgen reviewed the PLR-16 and noted that the optional muzzle break was very effective. "Quickly emptying a 20-shot mag into the center of a target was surprisingly easy."
The AK design makes for a unique & useful pistol setup! Forward mag, side bolt handle (yay!), long barrel, optics options, barrel options... I like it. I am not really into pistols at the moment, but this is cool. It's basically a beast of a pistol.
@cdcase16 The PLR16 is not made in full auto, because it was never meant to be full auto. Besides, you need a ClassIII to purchase and fire full auto anyways, and Kel-Tec has never been in the Class III market with guns like this
@Mrcaffinebean Yes you can. Any SU-16 stock will fit in place of the pistol grip. As you stated, in order to be legal, you have to get the proper NFA paperwork first.
technically it's a carbine because of of the ammunition caliber and barrel length, but most people call it a pistol because they don't know any better, The same reason as if you took a Mini 14 and put a Tapco stock on it most people will say it's and assault rifle but it's not because there is no select on fire rate (Safe, semi auto, three round, auto, ect.) and the barrel is too long too

If he were to swap the pistol grip for an SU-16 rifle stock, it becomes an NFA short barreled rifle. If he were to leave the pistol grip, and add a fore end grip to the picatinny rail, it becomes an NFA any other weapon. In fact, PLR stands for Pistol Long Range. In no case is it a carbine. Nor could it ever become one.

Have you seen the PTR91inc pistol variant? Basically a HK 91 with a 7.5 inch barrel and no stock. muzzle blast much? lol. Wouldnt want this PLR-16 as a ccw weapon, you lose so much in area of ballistics with this short a barrel that it would not be an effective man stopper and you would be deaf as a post if you had to fire it. stick with 45s for CCW, this thing looks fun as shit. take that flash suppressor off and it will be a flame thrower.
And as far as customer service is concerned? They're better than any of those companies mentioned I'll promise you that! I walked in with my SU16, PF9, P32, dropped them off, and waited in the waiting room. 20-30 minutes they were done. Replaced worn or updated parts, polished ramps, test fired...... for FREE!
What 30 round magazines are you using? I am running a PMAG and it fails to feed in my PLR and I need to replace it... my stock mag from Keltec works with mo problems.

@girlofrock311 Putting a folding stock on would take it out of the pistol category and would classify it as a SBR; you would be running into legality issues. A silencer would be pretty cool though.

It doesn't bother me if an individual does not like like this gun. But what does bother me is when people spread disinformation. There are no spot welds in this gun.

Have you seen the PTR91inc pistol variant? Basically a HK 91 with a 7.5 inch barrel and no stock. muzzle blast much? lol. Wouldnt want this PLR-16 as a ccw weapon, you lose so much in area of ballistics with this short a barrel that it would not be an effective man stopper and you would be deaf as a post if you had to fire it. stick with 45s for CCW, this thing looks fun as shit. take that flash suppressor off and it will be a flame thrower.

And as far as customer service is concerned? They're better than any of those companies mentioned I'll promise you that! I walked in with my SU16, PF9, P32, dropped them off, and waited in the waiting room. 20-30 minutes they were done. Replaced worn or updated parts, polished ramps, test fired...... for FREE!

What 30 round magazines are you using? I am running a PMAG and it fails to feed in my PLR and I need to replace it... my stock mag from Keltec works with mo problems.

WAH!!! Is that steel case you are shooting at 0:45 ? Kel tec strongly discourages steel cased ammo in all their products. If it is working for you, awesome - but you might see some trouble down the road if you continue to use it - just a friendly warning :D Awesome firearm though, I really want the PLR16 or PLR22.
