Hey!!! ur vid is nice!! why do we actually feel some wierd senstaion like some one is pressing our head... or like that... when we are @ take off?? Especially... when the jet engines at the ground begin to operate at full power.. (before running fastly on runway) we tend to feel something wierd... Also the same was felt by me during the bankings(i.e. to turn left or right) made by the plane.. (onto my side. i.e. when the side where i am sitting is lowered and the other is lifted..) ??
Takeoff during a flight is the best part. I love how the airplane goes slow and then just accelerates down the runaway and then goes airborne. To me, too, it's a thrill.
As a tall person who can't afford First Class, flying tends to be an unpleasantly cramped experience, but I do love the take-off and ascent! The visceral surge of power and climbing into the sky is a rush that never seems to get old for me. Of course, there's also a lot to be said for landing gently and coming to a controlled stop too...
@TheHarrish18 - I guess he didn't have time to go the bathroon before take off - well the vibration of the engines lead the captain to use his last sorce urgently - he opened THE FRONT WINDOW and took a piss rapidly as a flash - then the "water" transformed itself in "human vapor" because of the speed over the wing - I guess that "cloud" was stinking beer; maybe.
Oh, ok cause i hear the noise more on D.C., N.Y. shuttles then on other flights. I thought that the airlines may have used older aircrafts for the short flights. The buzz freaked me out!
I want to see the video of you and the flight attendant in the bathroom together... and the expression on your face when you discovered that you should have paid more attention to her Adam's Apple... Too Funny!
Idk if this is full power but i wonder what it felt like aboard Air Force One sept 11 when it left florida. that was most definitely a full power takeoff and climb
Unless it's some sort of emergency, modern jetplanes don't use full power, not even during take off. If possible, regular T/O are even milder nowadays, than they used to be, in order to save fuel and maintenance cost for the airlines, plus for abiding with existing pollution and noise regulations.
Iam sorry for not knowing that planes do not use full thrust on takeoff.... thank you to the 20 people that sent me messages correcting me thanks to you now i know :)
It's true that modern engines don't sound as good as the old ones in the 60s and 70s - but those RR Trents sound pretty cool. You get a different sound up front, all turbine engine, while at the back in cattle class it's mainly exhaust noise.
@emiratesa380man I've been to the United Arab Emirates and let me tell you there was PLENTY of fat Emirates puffing out there garb/robes in the malls! I had a tour trip with an camel farmer Emirate who took us SUV four-wheeling in the sand dunes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai and he was very overweight! I liked him, he liked me...but he was drinking camel milk in a bottle that was still warm off the teet! I tried it and it was fatty. You have plenty of fat Arabs in the UAE too!
This is the apreciation of a pasenger estimating the aircraft was taking off al full trottle. I dont see anything special in this take off that leads me to think it is taht way
i thought mobile phones had to be switched off in an airplane the frame rate on the video suggests it was filmed on a mobile phone lol get an iPhone 4s (the camera is much better)
@jimamia77 It's called buzzsaw noise and some engines do it worse than others. Some new engine designs attempt to minimize it. You mostly only notice it when you sit in the front seats or close to it. If you sit on the wing or behind the wing the noise is different, more like wind or rumbling.
@CirrusPilotsr20 no there not, a pilot does a calculation at which he can reach V1 on minimal power without running off the runway, this is done so he/she can increase engine life. Full power is rarely needed. and saves the airline money, how the system works :)
@CirrusPilotsr20 No. Jets usually do not. They bring the power up usually between 80-95 N1. This helps reduce stress on the engines. Small prop planes will usually do full power like piper warriors or a cessna.
@CirrusPilotsr20 No, Take Off power is usually a reduced rate, This allows for extra power from the engines should one fail. Usually takeoff power is about 96% full power.
@CirrusPilotsr20 No, Jets rarely use 100% thrust at take off( preventive maintainance). It would wear the engine out quickly. less than 70% is used. How often would you use 100% of your car engine's power ?
@CirrusPilotsr20 No, most aircraft dont exceed 95% N1 on takeoff. Only on such occasions should a full power takeoff be used. Normal takeoff power should be around 70-85% N1.
@jonathan97s well that's nonsense because the pilot needs to know that 100% is achievable.. how else would they know if there is a power issue with an engine?
Uploader comment got me to chuckle. FULL POWER!!! Zowie!! If truth be known, transport category aircraft are to 'throttle up' to full power from the start of the T/O roll until the [designated] first power reduction altitude. Depending on aircraft design and local noise abatement, it's usually between 500-1,000 ft. AGL. What you 'sperienced was an aircraft taking off light. It will fool 'ya! Nice video! Best.
How do you know it is a full power takeoff, commercial planes rarely do full power take offs cuz it causes major wear on the engines. Only commercial plane to do Full power take offs was Concorde. When Concorde took off you literally had to "slam" the throttles forward to set the engines to take off mode + they used re-heaters on all four engines.
Thanks for throwing in the pop up window telling us that the pilot is reducing the power setting a little. Up until today I always thought that the engines on all airplanes had only 2 speeds, idle and full. Thanks a million.
@DannyBoySmith i reely dont care how loud the engines r personally (eventhough it is annoying sometimes) as long as i know im getting somewhere pretty fast and the engines actually WORK. /;D
People here are so stupid, takeoffs are always FULL POWER the aircraft needs ground speed to rotate and when it has surpassed V2 speed, at a safe altitude, then minor power is reduced.
@HoldElevatorBro that exactly was i was going to say aircrafts always take off on full throttle then the bring the power back to cruise at the desired speed
@HoldElevatorBro That's not quite true mate, commercial jet aircraft will 'derate' their thrust whenever possible to save engine life. It is a safe practice and is efficient which means it is done very often, only at high outside temperatures and high takeoff weight will aircraft use their maximum available thrust.
You're correct in that once at acceleration height the thrust will be reduced to the 'climb' rating, and even the climb rating can be 'derated'.
@HoldElevatorBro actually, the engine power at takeoff is rarely set at full power... the EPR necessary for takeoff is calculated based on conditions and the throttles are set there...
@HoldElevatorBro They do not take off at full power, that puts too much stress on the aircraft and generally take off at the most economical power setting. Generally they use between 80-90 % to take off and then they cut back on the throttle once they get airborne and are climbing at the prescribed rate. Also there are noise restrictions at various airports and thus the aircraft cannot use full power.
nothing intense about that any halfwit knows that planes take off with full power i like how the uploader of this video delights in telling us how he is a 1st class passenger what a snob,i flew in a 777 to dfw and got there cheaper than him
@shanondor Aircraft rarely rake off with full power. In the last year, only once have I been on a full power takeoff, that was on an A321 that wasn't even near to full load of out LHR, bound for MAN. Even when I was on a fully loaded A380 for Tokyo we still used a derated takeoff. Much more economical to use a derate/FLEX.
@shanondor so beacuse he mentioned that he filmed it from a first class seat he in now a snob? You must be sufferering from some kind of inferiority complex.
Piece of shit airline. Congratulations American Craplines to the one star award in the latest Skytrax awards 2011. 2012 aim for a non star rating. AA= i rather walk, faster, better service.
That's over a HUNDRED THOUSAND HORSEPOWER (and a $24m price tag, for that matter...) right there. Amazing. I fly 16 legs on these every year (AKL-HKG-LHR and back x4) and this never ceases to deeply impress me.
is it just me or dothe engines get louder when it powers down? Seems strange but then again I know a lot more about car engines than aircraft engines! :P
@MADdrummer971 Maybe it's intense seeing 186,000 pounds of combined sheer, unadulterated thrust out of an engineered beast :) at least, it is to us enthusiasts...
OK.. I gotta admit this..I nearly freaked out twice by the slight powering down of the engines. Once, flying from Miami to Port of Spain and again from Miami to Chicago. lol.. Oh man I thought something was wrong with the engines.. Good thing I had a friend on the side of me who told me that usually happens after take off and when it reaches cruising altitude, bcos I was getting ready to bawl..lol..
hi.....i,ll never seat at long time ago in front of the turbines......these are the loudest place in the plane....i hate these place....behind the turbines the best places ever...8).......greetings from germany
I'm a A & P mechanic for 30 years and I've flown so many times. But This is a loud flight. Was it just like that or just your camera pick up the high pitch comming from the engines? I would think if it was that loud during that long flight to Dallas / FW I would have gone nuts.
@Hatchetman6971 yes i was just going to comment how loud it was for a first" class flight which i ve never been ,but can say that sounded abnormally loud for an engine ,wow im stoned
The guy filming the engine is thinking....."wow, that thing could surely make some monster margaritas!" The blonde stewardess walks by the engine thinking...."big deal, that engine's got nothing over ME!"
that engine didnt seem healthy

That's over a HUNDRED THOUSAND HORSEPOWER (and a $24m price tag, for that matter...) right there. Amazing. I fly 16 legs on these every year (AKL-HKG-LHR and back x4) and this never ceases to deeply impress me.

is it just me or dothe engines get louder when it powers down? Seems strange but then again I know a lot more about car engines than aircraft engines! :P

Whats so "INTENSE" about this? Its way more safer to fly then drive, don't be a pussy.

I'm a A & P mechanic for 30 years and I've flown so many times. But This is a loud flight. Was it just like that or just your camera pick up the high pitch comming from the engines? I would think if it was that loud during that long flight to Dallas / FW I would have gone nuts.
Hatchetman6971 1 month ago
@Hatchetman6971 yes i was just going to comment how loud it was for a first" class flight which i ve never been ,but can say that sounded abnormally loud for an engine ,wow im stoned
demshion23 1 month ago
@Hatchetman6971 Thats why its a good idea to buy yourself a pair of noise-cancelling
headphones for long flights. I have a set of Sennheiser PXC 450s.
They are expensive but worth every penny.

The guy filming the engine is thinking....."wow, that thing could surely make some monster margaritas!" The blonde stewardess walks by the engine thinking...."big deal, that engine's got nothing over ME!"

How do you know it was a full power take off and not at reduced ("flex") power?
