I'm a computer addict right now and am hoping to maybe get rid of it.. It's funny how a small bit of homework I have to do to research internet addiction made me come to such a realisation

oh, one more thing - I used to be addicted to the net too - and it's really hard to break the habit if you dont MAKE yourself look for something else to do. For me, I cook, draw, work on my truck, paint, and read a lot. Reading is very important. Find a good book and just read all day long. I do. And then, I come back and watch your funny videos. LOL

Hey :) I used to be addicted to the computer to and could focus on it all day and was so smart when it came to how to do practically anythin on it, but I couldnt do or focus on anything in school. It turned out I had A.D.D and thats what made me like the computer so much. Now that it makes more sense Im only on the computer for two hours on week days and a little longer on weekends. I also find im alot happier with my life since Ive controlled my addiction. Thanks for sharein your story :)

It really clears out that an addiction gets people so obsessed that they care more about getting some, then about their own family's wellbeing. I too, cared more about my computer then spending time with family and friends, I guess it's the same for her parents and the drugs =(

Great job it does affect you more than you realize as having social skills using words articulately. You need real people in the real world to communicate with, the interaction is crutial. You are beautiful you have much in common with my 18 year old son. sure he can relate to you. his video is meazy tut dancin. . isolation is dangerous because you need to learn how to respond in real life situations and the only way to do that is through practice. I've learned a lot from you

Yes, it's very crucial, and I can't believe I could only find myself spending my time fun or useful on the computer. It's very twisted, but I used to be convinced of spending my time more useful then other teens my age who went on dates and to parties.

I know exactly what you mean about computers being addicting, I've been on them since I was about thirteen and it's been about sixteen years now. You just have to know how to juggle the computer time and the non-computer time.

For a good number of years I wasn't doing that and all my time pretty much went just to the computer and the friends I had online.

I'd like to think that it kept me thinking young (in a crazy having fun way, still responsible!) and now I'm trying to make up for the time I didn't go outside. I ended up getting a job designing games and you wouldn't believe how many people in that industry are just like us! It's more and more common these days so don't feel bad about it.

It was a lot more difficult starting high school back in 1995ish to be a computer addict cause it wasn't as accepted as it is now.

Well that just clarifies the severeness of the trend.

It means people need to be aware that they would most likely lose themselves in the computer world. Especially artists and creative people, for they are more tended to isolate themselves

You're right, it's hard letting go of the computer, but as long as you're not addicted it's alright to give in =P I still computer a lot because there's simply not much else to do except for homework (which i make on the computer) and hanging out with friends or shopping.

Yeah that's definitely a problem, especially because ones they're gone you'll feel bad about not fully spending time with them.

I would say, wake up and stop before fate wakes you up and takes away someone you love the most.

It will make you appreciate the moments you share with your family more.

I agree with you though, thanks! Now that mom's been gone for a year I realized what a special person she was, and that she was the reason behind everything, she was basically the sun that fed the plants and kept them growing, I'm really proud of her!
