The only "GM 80's Muscle cars" that I'm aware of would be the 5.0 & 5.7 IROC 5.7 Firebirds - Am's - GTA's - Nationals & Vettes ,the best part is the 3.1 TCIC Trans AM being the fastest production TA up until that point ...including the 455 SD's
The El Caminos and/or the Cutlass were not really Muscle Cars.. Check the debate below on the Cutless. Also, notice that right at the begining of the video it says "SOME of the cars that dominated the streets in the 80's, not ALL of them." You should make a video of all the cars I forgot and I'll post it on my page.
The revised package lasted only three years, and the last 442 in 1987 came with the aforementioned 307 rated at either 170 hp or 180hp at 4,000 rpm, depending on the source. While this was a reliable engine, it was no drag strip terror, with quarter-mile times of 16.6 seconds at 83 mph; zero-to-60 mph times of 9.5 seconds were also reported, and weren't impressive figures then, either.
All this information is coming directly from all the internet sites. Prove me wrong and send me a link
yeah 307 roller cam. absolutely no aftermarket performance parts beyond an intake manual and main drawback was their rods. broke easier than ford crap.
Those cars will never get old I know the grand national is already a big collectors item and is pretty valuable and i can see the rest of the g bodies very valuable in a few decades.
The body of the Grand Prix definatly qualifies but they never did anything with it,, I mean can you honestly consider it a muscle car unless the engine was changed?
Since they turned Grand Prix into a front wheel drive, GM never had any intent to make Grand Prix a muscle car! They did something stupid, watched too much Mad Max and asked the Aussies to make them a muscle car and then they disgraced the GTO name with Aussie roots! In order to be a muscle car it must have American roots engineered in it! I own a Grand Prix GTP Comp G its fast and a great car but saddly its still front wheel drive!
I agree with you, I also really like the GTP; awesome car! I think I'd even consider it a modern muscle car... but the Grand Prix of the 80's wasn't. Know what I mean?
Thanks for the response vinny the t-types and grand nationals were only good in a strait line but these monsters still comand respect to this day.Think about this if G.M. hadden of killed the rearwheel drive 3.8 S.F.I turbo v-6 and let it's popularity grow the nissan's twin turbo 3.8 G.T.R would have its hands full with a real american contender.Zr1 corvette yes,I would like to see G.M give buick lover something to cheer about, Pontiac does, Chevy does,Even Saturn does, why not Buick.
I agree with you; even Ford is coming out with one sick Mustang after another, it's time that Buick came up to date with some kind of Muscle Car tribute. I know I would be interested.
thanks for that video vinny it brings back some good old memories of 1983-88 crusing in the ss monte carlo, cutlass 442,chevy camaro Iroc-z,poncho trans-am,and of course the buick t-type and grand national,Ive got 2 regal T-types,and a 1984 turbo riviera in the garage right now. Daly driver is a 98 regal gs supercharged. back then g.m. rocked now it looks like theyre going the way of the dinosars.
Yeah unfortunatly I think you're right.. I have a 94 Mustang GT Supercharged that I drive everyday but my heart is with real muscle-cars; you know, the ones that are monsters going straight but can't turn or stop. =]
Yeah I hear you, I've thought about selling or trading my car a few times "the 1st, 2nd, and other random pics in this vid." BUT I've never met somebody that didn't regret selling later on so I'm probably just going to hold on to it forever. =]
Nice rides, brings back memories of high school, being an '80s child I remember these cars very well, and had an '87 442 later, sold it in 2005, regret it ever since.
How about the Mopar turbo 4's? most of this vid is about the Buick GN...Lame....
