  • 11 Al Quedans hate freedom

  • Sir EJ apparently likes the sound as well. Seems pleasantly surprised. A bit of orchestral punch. Interesting, ...this came to me by a friend of a friend, so please don't quote me, but they said the Live performance with full orchestra for this single song, was a 1st try. If true....that rocks!

  • @setoncidolem73 ....as in....the orchestra played it many times before, but that night was the first, with Elton, together....maybe, lol. ::))

  • This is my favorite....great rhythm and beat......that's what makes great music!

  • Go Philadelphia! And Elton! Long live both :) Oh and as of 2011 Philly is growing! And Center City just had a baby boom!

  • What an awesome performance

  • the Philadelphia Freedoms were a World Tennis Team back in the 70's Billy Jean King was on the team and she and Elton were good friends so he wrote this song for her.. well he and Bernie !!! also this song came out as we were gearing up for the Bicentennial :)

  • A wonderful performance. Elton absolutely nails it.

  • a stunning re-creation of the original

  • Fuck Philadelphia

  • @ImSiriusB Why don't you go bend over and sit on a broken broom handle you fag....FUCK PHILLY?? FUCK YOU!!!

  • @RealAmericanHero420 ur man elton john is a Fag haha Yall had a Fag make a song about Yall shitty city

  • @ImSiriusB Lmao you're funny! xD pretending we're in 3rd grade now, aren't we? Because it's quite obvious that his sexual preferences are FAR less important that his musical writing. Which he is actually quite Godly at.

  • @RealAmericanHero420 Our city can kick the living shit out of whatever city that you are from my friend......i bet you are from that fraud of a city New York.....have you ever been to Philly? The birthplace of the U.S.A??? The most historic city in the United States.......I'm just dying to find out what city you are from......

  • @RealAmericanHero420 Philadelphia isn't the most historic city in the U.S. That'd probably be St. Augustine, Florida. The oldest city in the U.S.

  • @RealAmericanHero420 You fucking ignorant ass. Because i am sure you will think it i would like you to know that i am in fact straight and i am not gay. It is because of ignorant people like you that this world is so messed up. I dont agree with people being gay but if that is how they chose to live I dont care. You are a total idiot and prick though if you critisize one of the greatest artists in the world just because of his sexual prference. So i think the proper thing to say is Fuck You

  • @Ms123412341234 Why you yelling at me, I did not post that comment? Why don't you read the comment that I posted, you got the wrong person!

  • @Ms123412341234 By the way, ImSiriusB is the user that said Elton John is Gay...read below..you owe me an apology!

  • @Ms123412341234 YOU ARE STUPID FOR POSTING THIS INSULT AT THE WRONG PERSON....I DEMAND AN APOLOGY RETARD, LEARN HOW TO READ POSTS IF YOU'RE GONNA WRITE AN INSULT TO THE WRONG PERSON

  • @RealAmericanHero420 <------This dude has his dad suck on his baby dick while listening to Elton john, fingering his own asshole and wearing a Flyers jersey.

  • Agreed Indeed

  • I'd love to know who ACTUALLY wrote this for the orchestra. Any ideas? was it Gu Dudgeon, George Martin or someone? , cos he must have been very good to interpret this as it is. Brilliant.

  • I'm an African American male from the inner city. And when I was a child...........this song sarinaded me. I LOVE IT!!! I so remember playing as a child in the ghetto while this song would play on the radio. thank you for making this song Elton John

  • One of my favorite tunes!

  • This is beautiful the orchestra is amazing wow and of course he is AMAZING great video thank you

  • 4 July 2011, I'm glad we got our independence all those years ago, but there are no better friends in the world than in Great Britain. Love Elton, love this song. Simply wonderful.

  • @ctbill actually the song is about a tennis team. The Philadelphia Freedoms.

  • how can people dislike this?

  • @wesselpinballwizard prob cos their mad

  • @wesselpinballwizard Kewl...enjoy!

  • @wesselpinballwizard ....since perhaps they are unfamiliar with the original arrangement which was written too quickly? Not meaning Tempo, ....but if they had taken their time....this could have been the original arrangement. Funny, ...a friend told me she thought This version was a bit (slow)....when it's actually stepped up in tempo by a micro-second, just barely, with french horns, and maybe just a few, violins. LIKE :)

  • Going to be a his concert in Hannover, Germany tonight! Yipee! =)

  • great song, makes me want to turn it up when i hear it. also, awesome video!

  • Not many people know this but (from Wiki)...

"The song was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin as a favour to Elton's friend, tennis star Billie Jean King. King was part of the Philadelphia Freedoms tennis team. The song features orchestral arrangements by Gene Page."

    Si

  • Awesome!

  • Point is not whether Karenengswallows espouses garbage, which I believe he/she does, but simply whether he has the right to do so, or to advocate selling heroin to children, exterminating homosexuals, or Jews, or whomever , having sex with minors, or any other topic he sees fit to speak about. It certainly isn't a waste of people's time if you took the time to read and comment on it.

  • @Alikah1 quite overly dramatic, don't you think? Gonna send down the constitution on this thread?

  • @Alikah1 hey? Are you karenengswallows lawyer?

  • @MercuryAquarius Nah. Just someone who believes the best way to put an end to karenengswallows' comments is to ignore them.

  • @Alikah1 Well you did a lousy job conveying such "message" with your over-the-top drama queen antics.

  • The man's name is Elton John.

  • YouTube needs to get rid of karenengswallows

  • @MercuryAquarius Are you espousing censorship?

  • @Alikah1 you call that freedom of speech, alikah dear? Then you are an idiot. and btw....the scumbag is gone and good riddance. And now we have the likes of you who pretend to be intelligent by wasting peoples time and this thread's space over trash.

  • @MercuryAquarius Keep in mind that the minute Youtube can get rid of her(or more likely him), they can do exactly the same thing to you.

  • @Alikah1 are you just bored?

    GEE! R E A L L Y? Youtube can do the same to me??? WOW!...what SHOCK!

Imagine that Youtube can do the same to me!

Where've ya been? Youtube takes stuff off all the time.

I see you choose to keep foul garbage on video threads that serve no purpose - garbage you consider "free speech" ... in that case you are on the same sub-level as karenengswallow.

  • Thank you Sir Elton John

  • To 76juno. I think that he is actually being backed up by musicians from the Royal Academy of Music. Notice how youthful the performers are in the video. But those kids were surely cruising man.

  • Great song.

    Still one of my favorites.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • @Bdozer67

When the song was written it was intended to be performed with full orchestra although for logistical reasons that hasn't happened too often! The musical arrangement was by EJ with Bernie Taupin providing the lyrics. The song was written as a favour to Elton's friend Billi Jean King who was part of the Philadelphia Freedoms Tennis team.

  • @76juno AMEN to that Eh? the architects of that buildign if they could be here. would be thinking " i didnt think this old house would ever see somethign like this, but me likey"

  • song might have been about a goofy tennis team but Elton John shoud have hust lied and said it was about Philadelphia, Pa.. USA. it makes much more sense.

  • @fishfan67 c/o fishfan...hey, good post. But is IS kind friend...."about" Philadelphia, USA, yet not solely about a Sir Elton's great friend on the Philly Freedoms tennis team. It is also a Tribute of sorts. To the Music of Philly. A tribute to Huff, Gamble and Bell and their Band productions - the awesome music of the Spinners and Delfonics - so it's a mixed bag. Either way - just an awesomely arranged song (orchestrally) by G. Page in '74. I like your post - makes you wonder about story

  • One of my favorite Elton John songs... very underrated!

  • too quick

  • Many of his songs are my favorites , but this was amazing for me with the Royal House O. I would have loved to have seen this live . It wasnt just the french horns that had the best part, i can hear the baritones right along with them ! Actually every instrument had a great part in this wonderful piece

  • i would like to do this for talent show, get like a high school orchestra, me as elton john and go!
