Nine out of ten movies that are originally korean or japanese will scare me more than the American remake. However, the Ring and the Ring 2, although interesting and entertaining, were not as scary as the American Versions.

Japan: Psychological and mostly physical horror that will ACTUALLY scare you.

America: Blood, Gore and comedy, most horrors include dumbshits that almost cannot defend themselves anyway.

the American version doesnt suck! Sure this original one is WAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY better but the American one is Amazing! Even though the original one was better in MY opinion its not as scary as the American one. And the US doesn't have terrible acting.

@lolitylols I don't know that that's entirely fair. While I'm no expert on J-horror in particular, I've seen just as many sub par Asian horror films as I have American ones. I think English-speaking audiences give cheesy Asian flicks a little more slack because nothing sounds quite as stupid in Japanese. XD

The American remake plays a lot on not knowing what's there, but for the Japanese original, it plays on fear of hallucination as well.
