What could be more wasteful than destroying functional vehicles? That hurt the used car business by decreasing their stock, and thus made used cars more expensive for poor people. Who does that help?

Those guys have an agenda against Obama; Cash for Clunkers was a huge success. It singlehandedly rejuvenated car buying and encouraged car manufacturing. Before that, major auto retailers were closing their doors. Instead, manufactures now are building better more reliable cars that attract even the most hesitant of shoppers in this economy.

I'm blessed enough to say that I've been in this world long enough to remember 8 Presidents, and 7 of which I was of voting age. Although I served under President Reagan, I have never been more pleased in my President. All of Obama's policys does not benefit me, yet I feel secure in believing they greatly benefit the masses of those more deserving of help.

@seyiitoldya To go into further detail on Cash for Clunkers though, if you look at the boost in car sales in that month, the "boost" was actually pretty much the same level as the year before, and conversely car sales had a steep declines in the months before Cash for Clinkers, and especially after. If an industry is failing, it makes no sense to take sales away from other businesses to artificially inflate another. It hurt the used car business, and made cars more expensive for the poor.

Secondly, during Cash4Clunkers, you could buy a $40k Yukon for $25k before the over $2.5K trade-in adjustment. Plus, finance agencies encouraged credit challenges, since they knew there was already equity in those purchases. Everybody won and anyone in a position to car shop walked away with rare deals. PLEASE argue another example of a "bad" Obama policy. THIS IS NOT IT.

@TheRealAkaRai This is not a supply and demand discussion. The low number of cars on the lots weren't due to cars not being made fast enough. The numbers were due to fewer people buying them, thus eliminating the need to replenish on-lot inventories.

@TheRealAkaRai I said this is not that discussion because the scarcity of cars did not happen due to them being sold out; it was because dealer declined to order more and returned most of those they had in their inventory. When cars sit on lots, owners have to pay taxes on them. If they are not selling, they lose money. I have no idea where you got your information. All cars during C4C were being reduced to rediculously record low prices. There was no less cars/high $ thing you're talking about.

I believe that is what happened there, and if so, do you rather condemn him than support him? Especially, since its basic purpose was to protect the American public. Guantanamo Bay is still in process, but its closing has also been delayed by GOPs and not Obama. The War is over in Iraq and we NEED to be in Afghanistan.

@TheRealAkaRai I am a firm believer that we can cut a lot of the US budget by closing most prisons. It was said there are 7.3mil. in the US prison system, costing over $6.8 billion year. Imagine us being tougher on crimes and streamlining our death row execution dates? And military benefits are disgusting. Why do we foot the bill on housing for troops and their families? They get a pay check. What job do you know of who pays you then give you a place to stay? Imagine cutting that budget.
