  • Visionary

  • one of the smartest man in the world today

  • if only i have half of LKY's intelligence..

  • been in his country for 3 years, they say it is strict and no freedom. I would say that Singapore has the most freedom. Human being need restrictions and rules and Singapore balances that. Its a lovely place built buy one man and one man alone LEE KWAN.

  • incredible man, incredible human being. i think the best CEO in the world, he took a country with no resources and turned it into the best corporate houses. Is corporate good, dont know. Is this man the greatest leader the world has ever seen in the modern ERA. yes 100 percent

  • I came here by chance and I've to say that as an Arab, this is the first time to see a man who truly understands the reasons of the West vs East conflict. This is my first time to see this man (Lee Kuan Yew) but he is defiantly a wise man.

  • I think Lee Kuan Yew should talk on TED.com He would be such a nasset to the world.

  • ""I will make him crawl on his bended knees, and beg for mercy."

    -Lee Kuan Yew.

SINGAPOEANS SHOULD AND WILL STILL SEEK JUSTICE FOR ALL ACCOUNTABILITY & WRONG-DOINGS AGAINST YEW EVEN AFTER HE (YEW) RETIRES OR QUITS FROM POLITICS! PAY BACK TIME!

  • @makpuki99 - pay back time , yes , we own him too much. Singapore have achieved less than 3% unemployment , 1st class education voted with top in english, science , math. More than 90% home ownership, world 3rd most competitive nation, best airline - SIA, world busiest port - PSA, safest city in the world, so many first and yes I agreed , its payback time to him ,we owe him alot. So makpuki gong gong , you too owe him way too much, so pay him back with interest

  • @rockyboy467 LKY didnt work for free, He was paid very well to do his job and please dont mix up credit and accountibility. The past ministers and all Singaporeans suffer did contribute to Singapore success, please do not assume Singapore own by LKY. The line has to be drawn.

  • my goodness, i didn't know we were in so much danger with the car bombs...

  • @DemocracySingapore Because he raised a country out of the slums with no resources and made it succeed. The fact you can sit in the comfort of your home typing this comment.... you are living the fruits of his success...

  • I have never seen such a Heart in politicians as in Lee

    A man with a long-term vision....

  • how is Lee Kuan Yew compared with Churchill or Lincoln?

  • how is Lee Kuan Yew compared against Churchill or Lincoln?

  • Hi michealwithdtand , if mr LKY is what you commented , a murderer , a thief , a psychopath and blah blah blah , then who will be the opposite of Mr L K Y ? Osama bin laden ? Saddam hussain or yourself ?with your shallow mind and dumbness , I doubt you will understand what I'm putting across . However , in simplest words , get your facts right before you need to comment anything about any body and stop making a fool of yourself that upset and disappoint your parents or love ones ,

  • Lee Kuan Yew is a murderer, a thief, and a compulsive liar and a psychopath with superior syndrome. He is a human rights abuser. Largely a thug and a cowardly collaborator. A man without principle but to serve himself and his family. This is no great man this is a dwarf.

  • @MichaelWithstand

Sorry I do not agree with you- Michael. Mr. Lee is the most brilliant PM ever. Look at the progress Singapore enjoy and you know the truth. You are a liar.

  • @utube3888 I'm not a liar and I'm saying Mr Lee Kuan Yew is a liar. He's not a brilliant man. He's a psychopath with massive ego to satisfy.

  • @MichaelWithstand -you are a mother fucker, sucker , bastard, shit asshole and you are a human right supporter? Dont brag about human right, now tell me what do you know about it , blur vulgar words from you , a human right activitist? Go and screw a spider and you are a man with no penis not to mention principle

  • @rockyboy467 I settle my case Haha.

  • i cant stand that goofball host keep trying to interupt Mr Lee Dmn annoying

  • I have been working in a government office for 17 years, during that time there are no Malay graduates who have years of working experience within who had been promoted or given the opportunity to become a manager or a director. Incidentally I worked in CPF Board. Cut the bullshit.

  • This is sad, why didn't LKY appear in a REAL Interview , Hard Talk ?

I don't think he dares face any hard questions, put straight to the point and very bluntly.

Shimon Peres, Hugo Chavez, Dr Mahathir were amoung those who had the balls to do it.

  • @lieberat

LKY was interviewed on BBC Hardtalk, and I saw it when it was broadcast in the 1990's, but have never been able track it down since, he was given no quarter and he became visibly angry towards the end

  • @steve4656

Really, wow we should track down that video. I would imagine that he would have been frustrated.

  • the guy who interview should learn how to interview

  • @LinksRoyal

I agree. He sound like he is interrogating Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

  • I think there is no doubt he has had an iron grip on Singapore and it can seem dictatorial in certain ways. But we always think the grass in greener on the other side. Look at the French Revolution. So much fight for liberalism and when the regime was put down, there was so much anarchy. We have to thank this man. Although i am critical of him at times, we have to respect his ability.

  • hello Singaporeans!!!!! Much love from Jamaica

  • Who's that arrogant interviewer? Leaning over with his elbows on the table and wild gestures?

  • @WeToldYouSo1 i thought that too! perhaps Charlie desperately wants to feel as if he belongs among the people he interviews.

  • @WeToldYouSo1 Yes, I totally agree!!! He's horrible!

  • @solucerne All that China needs is a leader like Lee Kuan Yew and that'll be the end of Western wisdom, hehe. Singapore is a fantastic place, so smart and sophisticated and hard-working. :-)

  • @WeToldYouSo1 I wouldn't exaggerate too much about their sophistication... they still have caning as a form of juridical punishment!...

  • @solucerne Yeah, it isn't a democracy in the Western sense, and Lee isn't denying that at all but kind of proud of it. It's more like democracy with Confucian characteristics. :-)

  • @WeToldYouSo1 wake up kid, I went to singapore and to my horror, the Taxi driver told me he wasn't able to take a break to have CNY with his family.

The government is controlling the businesses like transportation, yes they cant own their own taxis.

The government is confining you, no chewing gum, ridiculous fines.

  • @Thetrollmaster2000 He aint controlling us, the laws are, as opposed to what you believe, decided by a parliament of ministers not a single personnel. Sure our laws may seem harsh but it has proven effective, has it not provided us with peace and stability? No. Plus, the taxi driver you met was probably struggling to meet ends meet OR wants to earn more money, tell me, if you will, is there a country without poor people?

  • wow...such an intelligent graceful and powerful man...he has so much old man power...love ya lee

  • I would love to know about his past....i mean how he started PAP and all....doesnt anyone wanna know??

  • the most realistic man...incredible, im a muslim, i hope Allah open his heart and except Islam. He done so many good things to human race in Singapore

  • Comment removed

  • he's simply amazing.. at 88 years old, his mind is still so sharp and powerful. a lot of 88-yr-olds are senile...

  • This guy is brilliant.

  • Each time you listen to LKY you would learn something new...

  • the host is incredibly irritating and disruptive.

  • WE NOT CHINESE NOT MUSLIM NOT ENGLISH WE ARE SINGAPOREAN!!!

  • @AniMaTheEarth yes, but you are still under English syllables.

also you all of you came from China.

    so??

  • LKY understands the issues well. Lets see how he deals with it.

  • it seems that Mr Lee kuan yew very cultivated concerning arabs and muslims problems .. this knowledge made him create the stability in Singapore

  • There is nothing wrong with pro-American, but Mr. Lee does not have to put other people down to show that. He can do whatever he wants with Singapore, whether it is setting up a Lee dynasty, or completely westernizing it which he probably already has. However, it is very inappropriate to use almost racism-like language to describe other people.

  • I have noticed that the most accomplished or intellectual individuals (e.g. Lee Kuan Yew ) tend to have a pro american out look.

  • Some of Mr. Lee's comments in the interview are pretty derogatory. He said the Chinese youth are like sausages because of their lack of individualism, and that the West is more creative and innovative than China. It does not matter how much a Anglophile or what a great nation builder Mr. Lee is, he ought to keep his comments about other people a little more respectful, It's simply good manner to do that.

  • i think he meant that the chinese system suppresses the creativity and dreams of its people.

  • because the US has intervened brutally in other countries 243 times since jefferson.

  • under his control, Singapore is a peaceful, stable and a progressive country..Without control on Iraq, look what happen..This thing is too intellectually high for you,so back off..and,btw what you mean doing it your way? terrorist wannabe

  • hey faggot everyone have the right to see it his way and that is mine! what makes YOU think you can come in here and tell anyone that he is not smart enough to comment? u outta back off and mind your own backyard bitch!

  • @qawserftgyuh:True that under his control,Singapore is peaceful.I ask u one question.Does it benefit it's citizen? He is using an OLD way of governance that is control the country by restricting human right and freedom.People's mind are constantly changing. Will this way of governance last forever?

  • hmmmmmmmm..maybe not..but i think that the way of governance is different now under Lee Hsien Loong as the PM..I mean, we have casinos and F1 now..LOL..wat do you think?

  • I predict that the social issue will worsen but they think that economic benefit is more important than social unrest."money is not everything" is an appropriate sentence to use

  • @duperman172 the old way of a strong central executive tended to use more violent mechanisms to retain power. Under LKY, centralised power has tended to be nonviolent and successful economically, one of the first to do so. Not even China or Venezuela can make such a claim.

  • @duperman172 - DARLING , we love it , its the best to govern singapore and do you think we have no freedom of speech? We have great internet access and so much freedom unless asshole like you tends to make cock and bulll stories , tell grandfather lies, then such liar need to have his tongue cut out. Singapore have been going overseas in millions and this is not wealth, happiness, then in your perception, its not freedom, please keep your human right ,freedom perception to yourself,we want this

  • @rockyboy467 BOY.Can u explain me why their votes count drop this GE.If U dont know the reason, just shut the hell up.Thank u

  • you sound pretty much power hungry to have that "control" in your hands.

  • what is he crapping about?
