A secret for this strumming -to have the same sound at the end of each chord just remove all the fingers immediately after playing the last down stroke in each chord .

Just learn the normal strumming first, then when you get the song down, the other up or down strums comes naturally. No point forcing these extra strums by learning what he does. Its like adding a personal touch to it, like what marty is doing.
