one of my favorite old hyms, i sing this alot and it holds a place it my heart, what christian at some point hasn't felt like that in their christian walk....then do we wonder why other's prosper living so wicked year after year..... thanks for the good description i've often wondered what the author was goin through when he penned this historical poetic work of art!!! thanx so much for posting. it was a blessing!!
my parent's church this would be considered a 'new' song. you'd love it there Raymond, from a historical perspective. picture 700 people singing songs dating back to the 1600's in perfect 4 part harmony.
Your rendition here was so genuine and performed with a sense of sincerity and hope in your voice as well as your guitar strumming, that I feel renewed in my faith after listening.
This is one of those songs I've known since I was a child. For some reason, I heard it as "father-in-law" instead of "farther along" and was very confused.
The other one I mangled was Bringing in the Sheaves which I heard as "sheets" and couldn't figure out what laundry had to do with anything.
I think he may have felt a bit ripped off after it became a hit. Oh, well, we're not in it for the money. I'm happy if people just enjoy my original songs. Thanks for your comments.
Great song Raymond. One of my old favorites. It also was done by the Carter Family and provided the tune for Woody Guthrie's I've Got To Know. Maybe I'll do it in a few days and post it as a response...
Interesting song for sure Raymond, it was a popular one at singings and such in my parents church. I agree the popular proverb "what goes around, comes around" doesn't really pan out in the real world. Not sure if we're ever really going to understand it though ! lol. great singing too.
A most sterling and passion-driven rendition of this haunting ballad of a story song. Crisp, pure and direct vocalizations properly married to equally straightforward guitar strumming make for a sealmessly enjoyable presentation.
Nice version of my favourite song !

Thanks, Max. But, perhaps it's undermined a bit by the "Pie In the Sky" video that follows it.

That means Fletcher has made $2.00 more than I have in the songwriting biz. I am jealous lol
A very powerful song though I like it very much. Thanks for sharing Raymond!

It's all about faith, I guess. Not one for the sceptics.
