As you fire, it loads the next bullet by spinning the cylinder so that the next bullet lines up with the chamber. Also known as a six shooter, since it usually holds six bullets. The thing she's holding in the picture looks just like my old Army sidearm, which was a 9mm Baretta, but it could also be a Colt 45 (can't see the whole thing in the pic). Neither one is a revolver.
