But if the lion wanted the badger dead, the lion WOULDNOT be able to just fit it in his mouth and call it a night. There is documentation of lion and badger fights including one which ended in a draw, the hungry lioness released its bite becuz the injuries it was suffering wasn't worth the meal.

It was sad to watch but you really see the respect that goes with this species becuz the cute HB literally fought til the end. The point of this incident is that the 5 lions were trying to play tug of war but the HB skin was soo strong that it wouldn't tear.This is the reason why the HB lasted over 30 minutes fighting 5 lions before it died.

The photographer talked about the incident, the lion was by a lake taking it easy and along comes the HB. The HB realizes that the lion is blocking his path so hesitiates and starts to backtrack then he stops turns around continues his path; Right to the lion, this is when the pic was taken.
