I dont mind Rob (Kid Rock) saying he's from Detroit even though he's not. He brings a good spotlight to Detroit unlike those pussies ICP. I used to see their truck roll through Novi on 9 mile all the time, that's a long way from Detroit.
HA! HA! U go homeboy! I grew up in E. Detroit=8 mile and East (Gratiot area). Just because you build a starbucks, don't mean you're movin' on up. Grosse Pt. (ooh-la-la rich) borders E. Detroit. Hence the name change to "East Pointe" to disassociate from the negative DETROIT connotation.
Ok, listen Cool...East Detroit (Eastpointe) Does not and NEVER did border Grosse Pointe. It borders St Clair Shores, Warren, Harper Woods, Detroit and Roseville... So, I doubt you grew up in East Detroit...
Lol east Detroit class of 95 and yes I was there when they changed all that shit it's still east Detroit always will be when I was there there were 5 black ppl all cool now it's horrible
We aren't part of Detroit, we're just a suburb of Detroit. East Detroit was its own city, but they changed it to Eastpointe to sound more distinguished. Stupid, right?
Eastpointe actually sounds a lot more like a hood than East Detroit. I'm from CT myself. Saying that East Detroit sounds like a hood and changing it is like saying West Hartford is a hood, whereas it is reletively wealthy.
I live in Eastpointe and It used to be called East Detroit , The city renamed East Detroit to Eastpointe to keep the property value up and they tried to keep the blacks out! Hmmm 20 years later Im the only whiteboy on my block and I pay 600 a month for a 3 bed room with a garage and bacsement (brick ) It dident work still East Detroit to me!
@MCBucky4 It's super run dow in some parts and full of life in others...it is a shit hole, and an amazing place at the same time. It has a high crime rate, but with just a bit of street smarts, you'll be fine. Home of the Detroit Lions who are playoff bound this year, and it's known as (it's ok you can laugh, your from canada) Hockey Town, and home to the Detroit Red Wings. Tons of music, literally at least 100 different places to hear live music from bars to old churches to stadiums.
my high school! 20 years ago this year i graduated. will always be east detroit to me. never was ashamed of detroit and that's still the case today even if i live in nyc...
Kidrock did that song for the very small percentage of metro Detroit people who remeber when a small city named East Detroit changed its name to Eastpointe. Eastpointe is the gayest name for a city ever.
@pitchblenda yeah, they wanted is to be associated with the Gross Points. The REAL Points hate it though, cuz East Detroit is really fucking white trash and Gross Point is nice as hell. Old money mansions. Can't blame the trailer trash for wanting it to sound classy I guess.
@katelovesyou666 Not even one trailer in East Detroit. The name change had nothing to do w associating East Detroit w Grosse Pointe (Speaking of white trash, learn to spell Grosse Pointe and why the f bombs?) The name change was all about disassociating the name with Detroit. There was a vote and among the other names were Erin Heights, its name before East Detroit. Get your story straight before you go off on a topic you clearly are uneducated about. For the record, I still call it East Detroit
@miaphoto Wow, my phone auto-corrects pointe to point and grosse to gross. Eastpointe IS white trash, as is South Warren. I went to EDHS for a year and a half, trashiest area of Macomb county. Why did they choose "pointe" if not to only get away from Detroit but to also sound like the Grosse Pointes? They didnt choose "Erin Heights" because Sterling Heights didn't want trashy eastpointe being associated with them. And, you can be trailer trash without living in a trailer.
This should have been on Polyfuze. I really wonder why he had all these bootlegs and other recordings, but never officially released them! I think he would make a lot of money today by rereleasing the bootlegs, which I would love. I cannot find any bootlegs for sale! Interesting with Kid Rock doing punk rock! He should have continued it, make an entire hardcore album!
ha ha yeah, cuz i lvoe this song... i jsut cant really understand what hes yelling when it gets hardcore... if he rereleased the bootlegs or w/e i'd LOVE that too
oh my......he sure has come a long. i couldn't hardly understand him. but i'm sure he had fun lol

Detroit is as bad as New York and Chicago.
It's a big city, so it's of course very high in crime.
But I still love it. It's got amazing stuff there.
(I was born in Canada too)
