I remember the first time I saw this in the theater, Me and my friends were watching, giggling like morons when he did the whole "Shhhshshshsh" part, even the people around us were chuckling a bit...then came "LOOK AT ME" at everyone just stopped. That was the moment when shit got real, not just in the movie, but when everyone watching realized that this Joker was far from the lovable madman of the cartoon and 89 movie, but a much darker and more evil Joker then ever before.

I work at a movie theater. Every time this scene was about to come on for the first week, I went into the theater. Every single time, the audience would be chuckling, then "LOOK AT ME." It's loud, and it comes from ALL the speakers at once. It sounds like the theater itself is the Joker. Instant, total silence. You just don't get how powerful this sounds watching it in a Youtube video. In a theater, it was pants-shitting.

I read an interview where the guy who played Brian Douglas tells the story of when he met Heath a few days after filming this. Heath comes up to him and asks"Hey I recognise you...we did a scene together, didn't we?" And the guy laughs back "yeah, we did alright, and i don't think I'll forget it for the rest of my life!"
