I was at this show. This was a couple months before Nevermind came out and no one had heard of them. It was so packed and so hot people were passing out and wouldn't fall over.
@reck1111 You're memory fails you. Nirvana played the TLA in Philly just prior to Nevermind's release. This particular show was 2 years before Nevermind. Dave Grohl isn't even in the band at this point.
@sirmelancholia It was 20 years ago so my memory of those days is pretty blurry to say the least. I'm positive I saw them at this show. I may have seen them at the TLA too and the two shows are just blending together in my mind.
@sirmelancholia Your memory fails you. Nirvana never played the TLA. They played J.C. Dobbs three times, which is actually on the same block as the TLA.
@livegreenday I'm 34 so my memory is still pretty much intact. I went to A LOT of shows at both Dobbs and the TLA. I do know that Nirvana played Dobbs twice; in 89 & 90 I'm 99% sure that they played at the TLA. I distinctly remember seeing "NIRVANA" on the marquee out front for a couple of weeks whenever I went down to South Street. I personally saw them at City Gardens right around the same time too which was a common tour stop before or after the TLA or Troc in Philly.
@sirmelancholia With all due respect to you, they played a third date at Dobbs on October 1st, 1991. The US "Nevermind" tour was booked before the album took off, so they were still playing a lot of the same clubs they were during the "Bleach" era. That photo above shows their name on Dobbs' calendar, and the show definitely was not moved or anything like that. After this date, their next stop in Philly was at the Armory in '93.
@livegreenday I'm going to have to take your word for it, I'm not seeing any TLA shows anywhere on a Nirvana Live Archive website I found. I had two friends back in the day that said they went to the TLA show. I haven't talked to them in 12 years and would like to ask them about the show. It makes no sense at all that they played Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill, 9:30 Club in DC, City Gardens in Trenton, the Marquee in NYC, and NOT the TLA in Philly. They played all those clubs even back in 90'.
back in the time jason and kurt were friends , man . And that´s just awesome how they moving together on stage . I think this was the fucking greatest gig on the bleach tour
