  • Uhm, is there a reason why this clip is playing at a slow rate and has no sound and is such bad pixel quality you can't really see what funny thing the alien is doing?

  • The way she looked xD

  • Voyager had the most ridicolus looking aliens in Star Trek history

  • What episode is this?!

  • @scoobyrds counterpoint season 5

  • that alien dude looked like he was working on one helluva snot rocket!

  • man you cant tell me that they will ever end the startrek franchise...its as American as apple pie, baseball and porno!...i just wish they would come up with something new...Enterprise took a while to get used to cause it didn't have the flashiness and sleek look of TNG,but also didn't have the boring and bland look of Kirks show.

  • Really! I that it was a blooper!

  • ...and she's like wow like totally like wtf like ya know?

  • "WTF?!"

  • Janeway's face!!! Priceless!

  • LOL I loved that alien... so funny, makes me laugh every time

  • Apparently the actor figured out he could do that, it wasn't originally planned that way.

  • Oh, yeah I remember this. I love the guy with the inflatable nose! What episode was this?

  • @Calriec Counterpoint.

  • This clip would be so much better with audio, at normal speed.

  • I like how their isn't any sound in this clip

  • @danwat1234 thats what i was thinking... i still laughed though :P

  • Kate Mulgrew said she didn't know in advance of shooting this scene that the alien's face would do that puff-out thing. So what we're seeing is Mulgrew trying to suppress her laughter.

  • @MsTruNorth: Thank you for the tip about Mulgrew not knowing in advance about the puff-out. Watch her eyes go wide in shock for a moment.

  • @aardvark280 Yes, it's funy to watch, isn't it? I suppose the director thought that not telling Mulgrew in advance would elicit the most natural reaction from the Captain (as Mulgrew would recover and continue on in character, which she did). But the wide eyes and the quickly suppressed smile are quite natural, and I suppose that's what the director wanted. Brilliant idea, as on NG they'd keep a straight face and have no reaction if an elephant passed through the scene.

  • she's more of a "i'd hit that".

  • aha i love janeway's look

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology:

    (1) Why do we love space travel?

    (2) Why do we want to explore the space?

    (3) How does space technolgy benfit us today?

    (4) What should be included in a space ship to make our space journey more enjoyable?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

  • @applesweeter 1) Cause we love exploring. We are curious about what lays beyond the sky.

    2) For the same reason!

    3) Internet!!

    4) A Holodeck!!

  • @NLDavidXD

    What is a holodeck?

  • @applesweeter Did you watch any Star Trek at all??

A Holodeck is a room, where holoprojectors project light and forcefields. Those forcefields Can have the shape of anything. So in a holodeck you can create anything you want, only it's not real. Like a forest or a pub or a zoo if you wanted too. It's gaming or television, only you are part of it and you can interact with the caracters in it. It's not invented yet, but I hope it will!! Just watch some Star Trek and you will find out!

  • @NLDavidXD Your half true. Holograms use the same technology as transporters, Matter/energy conversion. Oh many episodes (Ds9, TNG, and VOY) they eat and drink in the holodeck, REAL FOOD. (sometimes its holographic but not always). The holodeck can replicate items like food for them to eat so they can actually visit Sandrines (VOY) and have a real meal (as 7of9 did when she attempted to eat lobster).

  • @mockhazzard

    Your reply is half true.

Holodecks can either use energy/matter conversion, or a hologram with a magnetic force field.

If you are going to eat something, or interact with something that requires more simulation than a standard hologram, or something you might carry off the holodeck, energy/matter conversion is used. If it's a person or an animal, or something where it doesn't require duplicating in that much detail, a standard hologram is used.

  • @Draknfyre i love talking to other trekkies :)

  • Janeway's thinking, "how can I violate the rights of this alien while also complaining about everybody else violating the rights of this alien?"

  • Haha this is one of my favorite scenes ever.

Would have been better with sound and normal speed though..

  • hahahahahahahaha!!!!!

  • Man, if that thing sneezes, it's head'll explode.

  • My favorite esp of this show is and always will be Tulix. It's the one that had Neelix and Turok go down to a planet to get some flowers and when they were breamed upto the ship, they were combined into Tulix. The actor who protrayed the title character did a pretty awesome performance. He did each man's duties but with the other one's emotional range. Tulix is my favorite Star Trek character. I had an idea to being him back. Q comes to Yoyager and he snaps his fingers and he brings Tulix back.

  • @Markel1970A it was Tuvix but yeah great ep lol

  • @Markel1970A Turok? Yoyager?

Do you have some sort of alien accent?

  • I think its funnier at the original speed lol... although watching it this slow truly brings out the nuances in the performance heh

  • I get the feeling Kate Mulgrew wasnt ready for that.

  • When the makeup guys forget to put holes in your nose piece you just go with it. LOL

  • shes like omg wtf!

  • i love how her eyes get all wide kind of. so cuteeeeeee! i love kate.......

    :)

  • The mere fact that Kate Mulgrew timed that expresion so timely and natural shows that she is not the reason so many people hate Janeway

Thanks authors for f*cking that one up

  • @TheStrayCross I second this. You are absolutely right. In fact, I will go as far as to say that almost (I did say almost) the actors in Voyager were talented and were not being used to their full abilities due to the dreadful script. Although Robert Picardo did get some good lines.

  • How bout 7 saying, That was a platonic gesture, don't expect me to pose for you.( after she kissed the doctor) I forgot the name , I just know the doctor was trying to learn to daydream and actually had to take command of the ship. He bluffed the bad guys with an imaginary weapon. LOVED that line.

  • kate mulgrews acting often saved the poor writing in this series.

  • @Thronsohn there was no poor writing in this series...best star trek ever.

  • LOL omg I never noticed her subtle face gestures in this scene! That's worth real money xD

  • I remembered when i first saw this episode i couldnt stop laughing at janeways reaction she is like dont laugh dont laugh dont laugh

  • i think the guy may have either needed a kleenex or on his world thats how they pick up women (hey baby wanna see whats up my nose? we can take your delta flyer and explore a whole buncha noses maybe even catch a cold or 2 together

  • I think Janeway finds it erotic.

  • Halfway through the clip, the look on her face is priceless. Who cares if it doesn't have sound. The humor in it is all visual.

  • What Episode Is This From?

  • @Stripe2848 Counterpoint

  • This episode is awesome. What was cool about this alien is at least he's different and unique! So many aliens on all the Star Treks are too similar, ridged nose/foreheard and a bad haircut, at least this alien was unique an funny!

  • I dreamed about janeway last night, and she asked if I knew star trek. And indeed I have all boxes :D :P

  • no sound?

  • I can only guess how many times they had to redo that scene, you can see she was almost ready to laugh

  • Very nice!!

  • Someone needs to come over here and clean the tea off my monitor STAT.

  • I feel like that any time I get a cold!

  • I would love to see the bloopers from this episode. :D especially from this scene.

  • She is so sweet when she smiles. :)

  • I bet if the alien did it one more time, Janeway woulda started laughing hard.

  • not even close 2 be funny

  • I must admit that she is absolutely phenomenal!

  • 0:10-0:12, 'must... touch... ahh fuck it lost my nerve.'

  • Best WTF? moment in Star Trek.

  • It's Janeway's expression that makes this so funny xD

  • Kate Mulgrew is such an awesome actress. She can communicate so much without even speaking. I love her!

  • Now that is one classic expression.

  • who cares about the logic of science, we love voyager!!! ahaha!

da vinci also had a lot of imagination... ;)

  • As an actor I recognize Kate Mulgrews expression. She is trying very hard to not laugh and break character.

She had likely seen that a couple of dozen times but something about it kept striking her as funny.

  • @vipersaim

But the character Janeway is making that expression, because she needs to remain tactful and respectful in front of the aliens.

  • She looks like she might not have known it was supposed to do that and thinks the mask is malfunctioning.

But your estimation is more informed by experience.

  • Though, i think that they wanted something like that in the show, add another flare of humanity into her

  • Gaw I love watching her expressions they say soo much!

  • She has such a beautiful expressive face!

    :)

  • lol the guy starts inflating his nose and janeway is like WTF

  • @taurnilancalimon After spending so long stuck with Chuckles as her most likely mate Janeway is probably wondering what else the guy can inflate.

  • ahahahaha luuuuuuuv it! Gets me every time!

  • lol

  • Love the look on her face. Priceless.

  • this was hilarious, I used to rewind this on the video and laugh like a loon1

  • It's funny 'cause my friends nostrils flare like that when she laughs!

  • I love this scene. Janeway, like most Starfleet officers, is used to seeing mostly humanoid aliens (what we know to be humans with a nose or ear prosthesis), so when she sees something genuinely unusual like that it catches her off guard for a second.

  • Omg, that tiny fraction of a second where her eyes widen!

    Dayum! x)

  • My sister, she's into Star Trek but as she is only young gets frightened at some scenes... lol, but she LOVES this one!

  • who got rid of the audio?

  • lol poor Janeway is like wat the fuck was that?

  • He jizzed in his pants X3

  • I met a starfleet captain and I JIZZED IN MY PANTS

  • Disgusting huh? I wonder how you would handle a first contact situation!!!

  • I can see it now, aliens stepping off a ship before a large crowd and someone shouting "Oh GROSS! What is that disgusting thing?"

    And then the war begins...

  • That was hilarious! I remember it so well. "Counterpoint."

  • Heha! Thatz funny as.. but I dont think that it was from "Counterpoint", wasnt that when Voyager kept getting boareded and searched for telepaths? I dont im confused! :~

  • No, I think that was the episode where the doctor got abducted and put on some medical station where the people with higher importance get treated for diseases first.

  • no it wasnt it was the one where they were traviling through a section of space where it is illegl to be a telapath and so janeway was smuggling a bunch of them to a rondevoue point and they keep getting inspected and she kissis that alin inspector person....it was epic

  • Hmm ... actually I think you're right now that I think about it.

  • lol well I know im right ... glad u agree

  • The name of the episode is 'counterpoint' it's the ...It's in season 5

  • Did he die?

  • Janeway's thinking "WTF"

  • Jane's thinking:

"There is coffee in that nose?" :P

  • He got killed on Runescape.

  • that is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo discusting

  • That's funny! By the way where is this clip from?

  • this cracked me up lol

  • i'd do Janeway

  • me too!

  • Janeway's actor does some of the best face acting I've seen from anyone in any programme - there are many moments in Voyager where she displays this awesome level of... Facial articulacy?

  • the word is "articulation," and yeah, she's GREAT at it. sorry, i'm just a stickler when it comes to spelling.

  • I completely agree. Kate Mulgrew is really able to say a lot without saying anything verbally.

  • yes. she is so subtle. good thing there is rewind to recapture her subtle facial gestures.

  • At least Genevieve Bujold quit because the job was "too exhausting". Being so boring must have expended all her energy -.-

  • LOL. Yeah, she had zero energy so it's amazing she was so exhausted. Obviously she doesn't have a lot of gas in the tank. Thank goodness she quit.

  • HAHAHAHA! I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS!

  • She does fantastic reations in different scenes!

I found this so funny when I saw it for the first time

  • It almost looks like he wasn't supposed to do that but adlibbed it and Kate was so brilliant not to just outright laugh at that little puffball routine.

  • captain janeways face HE HE

  • hahaha I was just lookin' at that! Her face's so funny!

  • LOL Mrs. Columbo!

  • lol ! yeah/i like the expression on her faice here!))

  • FAIL.

There was no audio. Total fail.

  • Throughout the entier series, the whole cast did a great job of really taking us into the Voyager world, but Janeway (Mulgrew) in particular had a knack for expression that made every scene seem that much more realistic.

  • You're absolutly RIGHT!

  • ur right

  • 0:05

  • janeway is a milf

  • janeway didnt have any kids then, making the correct term cougar.

  • You'd think being in Starfleet, she'd seen everything, that nothing could surprise her anymore. Well, it's obvious she was still unprepared for that! lol

  • LMAO oh Kate is great. If that was her first time seeing that happen she composed herself very well...until the end of the clip then she busts out laughing. XD

  • She's trying SO hard not to burst out laughing....

  • lmao when i first saw this i laughed pretty hard

  • No audio.

  • Janeway: CANNOT BELIEVE IT.

  • As said before, Janeway's face is funnier than the nose blowey alien!!!!

    CLASS!

  • Haha. You just can't beat Janeway's expressions!

  • LOL WTF

  • LMFAO hahahahahahah

  • Does anybody know what episode that is from?!

  • from the episode counterpoint

  • An amusing side effect the actor discovered after his nose was sealed in by the latex costume.

  • hahaha look at her face!!! It's even funnier than his! I wonder how often they had to repeat that scene at the set because I can imagine that she had to laugh a lot lol

  • This is such a funny part! LOL

  • LOL! Y does she make that face!?

  • haha! when my sister and I were kids we used to rewind and re-watch this part over and over again!

I wish my nose could do that...

  • Someone please make me an "O RLY?" picture with that Janeway facial expression, lol.

  • hahaha!

  • nice costume!

  • first time I saw this when we rented it 6 or 7 years ago my whole house fell down laughing, I re-watched this episode for the first time since the other night and this took me completly off guard :P

  • yep, same here, I completely forgot about it so it had me dying with laughter wen I watched it

  • Ahhhahahaaa!!!

  • Oh god! Kate is classic. That HAD to be the first time she'd seen that. Leave it to her to pull together before busting up though!

  • i reckon that was the first time she saw that you just cant fake an expression like that

  • You're right, you really can't! I honestly think maybe they hadn't given her the full rundown on how this whole nose thing was gonna work in the scene and she was just like "WTF?"

  • Counterpoint is one of my favourite Voyager episodes and this scene never stops being funny.

Such a brilliant choice - Thank you so much for posting it.

  • Kate is great... that expression... I dont know if she was expecting it or not. Oh.. good old times...

  • EPIC.

  • LMAO that woman is a legend!!!

  • i wish my nose could do that

  • LMAO........she's friggin' brilliant! This is one of my favs, it's hilarious. Her face is classic. Thanks so much for posting this!

  • that was a very good joke during a kind of interogation scene

  • I agree where is that hand going sliding up ......? oh anyways love the expression she was totally not expecting that I'm sure!

    **SS22

  • xDDD Niiiice.

  • What I want to know is, where is her hand going?

    Great expression!
