Uhm, is there a reason why this clip is playing at a slow rate and has no sound and is such bad pixel quality you can't really see what funny thing the alien is doing?
For a good laugh try " The Star Trek Bible " parody treatise, read by scholar Robert M. Price on ' The Bible Geek ', 18th September. Are some Bible verses actually reporting sightings of UFO ? Did humans travel here from another galaxy ? Was Jesus an alien spaceman ? Was the sighting of Jesus going up in the sky [Acts 1v9] actually him being teleported ? Or just dreamed up ? Were the living dead people seen in Jerusalem [Matt 27v53] actually imperial guards beamed down to save Jesus? Fiction ?
man you cant tell me that they will ever end the startrek franchise...its as American as apple pie, baseball and porno!...i just wish they would come up with something new...Enterprise took a while to get used to cause it didn't have the flashiness and sleek look of TNG,but also didn't have the boring and bland look of Kirks show.
Kate Mulgrew said she didn't know in advance of shooting this scene that the alien's face would do that puff-out thing. So what we're seeing is Mulgrew trying to suppress her laughter.
@aardvark280 Yes, it's funy to watch, isn't it? I suppose the director thought that not telling Mulgrew in advance would elicit the most natural reaction from the Captain (as Mulgrew would recover and continue on in character, which she did). But the wide eyes and the quickly suppressed smile are quite natural, and I suppose that's what the director wanted. Brilliant idea, as on NG they'd keep a straight face and have no reaction if an elephant passed through the scene.
A Holodeck is a room, where holoprojectors project light and forcefields. Those forcefields Can have the shape of anything. So in a holodeck you can create anything you want, only it's not real. Like a forest or a pub or a zoo if you wanted too. It's gaming or television, only you are part of it and you can interact with the caracters in it. It's not invented yet, but I hope it will!! Just watch some Star Trek and you will find out!
@NLDavidXD Your half true. Holograms use the same technology as transporters, Matter/energy conversion. Oh many episodes (Ds9, TNG, and VOY) they eat and drink in the holodeck, REAL FOOD. (sometimes its holographic but not always). The holodeck can replicate items like food for them to eat so they can actually visit Sandrines (VOY) and have a real meal (as 7of9 did when she attempted to eat lobster).
Holodecks can either use energy/matter conversion, or a hologram with a magnetic force field.
If you are going to eat something, or interact with something that requires more simulation than a standard hologram, or something you might carry off the holodeck, energy/matter conversion is used. If it's a person or an animal, or something where it doesn't require duplicating in that much detail, a standard hologram is used.
My favorite esp of this show is and always will be Tulix. It's the one that had Neelix and Turok go down to a planet to get some flowers and when they were breamed upto the ship, they were combined into Tulix. The actor who protrayed the title character did a pretty awesome performance. He did each man's duties but with the other one's emotional range. Tulix is my favorite Star Trek character. I had an idea to being him back. Q comes to Yoyager and he snaps his fingers and he brings Tulix back.
@TheStrayCross I second this. You are absolutely right. In fact, I will go as far as to say that almost (I did say almost) the actors in Voyager were talented and were not being used to their full abilities due to the dreadful script. Although Robert Picardo did get some good lines.
How bout 7 saying, That was a platonic gesture, don't expect me to pose for you.( after she kissed the doctor) I forgot the name , I just know the doctor was trying to learn to daydream and actually had to take command of the ship. He bluffed the bad guys with an imaginary weapon. LOVED that line.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love space travel?
(2) Why do we want to explore the space?
(3) How does space technolgy benfit us today?
(4) What should be included in a space ship to make our space journey more enjoyable?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
applesweeter 10 months ago
@applesweeter 1) Cause we love exploring. We are curious about what lays beyond the sky.
2) For the same reason!

But the character Janeway is making that expression, because she needs to remain tactful and respectful in front of the aliens.
