@Dalek44 There were several reasons why. The howling wind, some of the music ditties, the gritty and seemingly deserted Vicarstown, James spinning on the turntable and some of Ringo's narration (like at 1:25 and 4:13.)
This is the American version of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, because Ringo Starr refers to the Fat Controller as "Sir Topham Hat" in the episodes and not "the Fat Controller", don't know why?
@aceattorney1989 Yes they are. The Rev W. Awdry just didn't include that information in the original book because tender engines need to turn around to do other things besides get in their sheds.

Ringo was the best voice. I remember him and Carlin. I miss the old Thomas when I was a kid. Hence why I LOVE THE BEATLES!!

@RobertMProductions Ringo's narration at 1:25 and 4:13 is much calmer in the UK version of this episodes incase u didn't know.

@Dalek44 Yep.
I actually like the UK versions much better than the US versions because even as a child, I could tell they redubbed the episodes for the US. -.-

Aren't turntables also used to turn the engines around so that they can get in their sheds?

Yep. You're absolutely right. But we also know that this turntable is closer to a windy place close to the sea.
