I still hold the line that Carpenter is an underrated filmmaker. He beats the other Hollywood genre directors of his generation (Spielberg, Lucas, Walter Hill, John Landis) hands down. There's just something about the mood of a good Carpenter film... Even the not-so-good ones have great moments.
