Man, am I glad I got through high school. I came near dropping out in 10th grade but seeing the future I was wasting really opened my eyes. I soldiered through to graduation and I felt very proud receiving my diploma. Now I'm in community college and the future looks good. Thanks for the inspiration, Mr. President.

I look down on dropouts. I think they're lazy, and I think it's hilarious that they say school is "too hard" or complain about having "lots of work". Yes, there are people who get great jobs and have dropped out, but I still look down on them. Those people are also not the majority. You cannot get as far with a GED; most colleges take those with diplomas before they start looking at GED aps. Not to mention many managerial jobs that don't require a college education do still require a diploma. A friend of mine who dropped out and got a GED lost their job when it was discovered the didn't have a diploma.
