I am all against 4x4's being only used in towns and cities, BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE DON'T SHOW THE SMART CAR AS A ALTERNATIVE. They are so over priced, cheaply built and crap, a couple of years ago scientists discovered crumple zones, and the designers of the Smart car didn't get the idea of this technology. So the result is that the Smart car is the only car on the market, which is as safe as being in a metal animal cage while falling down a cliff!!

I love the incrementalism of socialism. Don't like chelsea tractors or SUVs, then get them banned. Once those are banned or severely restricted, go after the cars. Ten speed bikes might cause and accident or worse, injure a child, so only one-speed Chinese-style bikes will be allowed in cities. Fret not, the progressive middle class socialists will then find a new target.
Hold on these guys arnt thinking straight,now i have 2 land rovers a 110 for towing my vintage tractors, i go off roading both for pleasure and my work i live in the contry but go through towns what about me HEY i need a 4x4 and it wont just be the people in the town who get taxed and extra charges . It will be people like me too. CANT WE HAVE ANY FUN ANYMORE, what is your hobby? making dasiy chains well shall we ban that incase you get stung by a bee?
They take up far too much space on small roads, the people that drive usually own one because they see it as fashionable, but really who cares?
I personally don't think that a RAnge Rover Driver is particularly cool, so who are they trying to impress? Obviously, they are all compensating for something
they seem to forget that there are 4x4s on the road more than 20 or 30 years old, think of how many normal cars have been produced and scrapped in that time? the slightly higher driving cost of an old 4x4 is majorly offset by the fact that it has saved thousands of pounds in raw materials in the normal cars you may have had instead
