  • I used to listen to Robbie on a Saturday morning: he played the real cream and occasionally some of the more unusual ones. I recall him playing Manhattan Transfer (Twilight zone Twilight tone) and the Pretenders version of Grace Jones Private lives.

    BTW, do you remember a Sat night / Sun morning soul show on radio London (I think), which would rundown the latest singles in the "Disco chart"? I think it was on between 11pm and 1am, during the early '80s. Does that ring any bells??

  • The Royalty in Southgate, with Froggy and Greg Edwards? Can't really remember, but I remember dancing to it....... Saw the Jacksons there (without Michael), but they weren't that famous back in the day..... they had bodyguards in the upstairs bar, but no one was that bothered... how weird!

  • Well remembered. Spelling was slightly different though (US spelling). It was Tony Rallo and The Midnite Band.

  • This was one of the tracks played at the first club I ever went to in '79/80. Always remember being completely knackered by the end.

    Love the way this track takes me right back to being 16. I'd go back in a heart beat if I could.

  • Oh Ysanne... u are SO right. I teened on Tamla... danced to disco/jazz/funk in my 20s til I was mental... and then House became my passion. (My fave time for music is 86-95.) But all without drugs. Just got high on the music and dancin away the evening. Young 'uns just don't get it, do they?
